SO i backed up my x86 machine before the 10.5.6 update which killed my machine, then i loaded up my dvd and restored, but got a chain boot error! Is there any damn way to restore my copy? Its saved on a bootable WD 500GB external drive, but the drive wont boot, its seen....idk...any ideas?

You could try booting with your install DVD and the parameters:

rd=diskXsY

at the darwin prompt. Replace X and Y with the appropriate identifier values for your Leo partition. If you have no idea what the identifier number of your drive is, then boot with your install DVD and input this in the terminal:

diskutil list

It will show you a list with all of the drives/partitions of your system including their "identifiers".

hello, if your using hackingtosh than do this.

 

1. Back up using CarbonCopyCloner Free

2. to make back up drive bootable (in my case) i had to install the bootloade Charmilion or EFI_9 in to the back up drive and works like a charm

 

it seems that everything is copied except the Bootloader!!

 

I use the Retial Leopard methord with boot132 i'm not sure if it will work with keelway and iatkos etc.
