i have a 3.06 imac which i have just purchased 4gb memory for in form of 2x2gb kit mine came with 2gb in 2x1 gb sticks question is can i use the memory i took out to upgrade my macbook which is approx 7 months old core 2 duo white just the base model no superdrive or {censored}

iMacs use notebook memory. Indeed you can use it in your macbook. Don't worry about the Memory running faster than that of the macbook either; if the logic board can't handle that memory's speed, then it should underclock it automatically.

WrenBird is actually right as far as I know, I both replaced memory on my iMac and Macbook and they are equal with exception of clockspeed which should be no problem since it's possible to run the memory at a slower speed as long as it has the same pinstructure and no difference in voltage (i.e. between DDRI and DDRII) which should not be the case with your models.
