MacManX
SOLVED: Turn on "Restart automatically after a power failure" in Energy Saver -> Options. Credit to Jan Bird for this solution Sorry if this has already been posted, but I haven't seen anything. I've been running 10.5.5 for a week or so without any issues. Yesterday I patched DSDT, removed IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext and rebooted, and sleep continued to work. I then updated to 10.5.6 and now the system won't sleep. I choose Sleep from the Apple menu and the system goes through the usual motions (eg. signs me out of Adium) but then it just powers off completely. As mentioned I tried it on 10.5.5 with the DSDT patch so it doesn't appear to be directly related to that. Has anyone else run into this problem? Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3 Install Method: Boot 132 with retail 10.5.0 DVD Boot Method: Munky's EFI partition trick Third-party kexts: dsmos.kext, patched AppleHDA.kext. Also have OpenHaltRestart.kext (although the sleep issue persists if I remove it) and tried reinstalling IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext with no effect. Video (9600 GT) and sound (ALC889a) using EFI strings. Thanks :censored2:
ApexDE
What happens when you remove the DSDT.aml file from the EFI Boot Partition?
walterav
What happens when you remove the DSDT.aml file from the EFI Boot Partition? Also have this problem, fresh install update to 10.5.6, no sleep, the machine starts to get into sleepmode but then it stays on... Sleep has been working great since 10.5.0-5 all versions... munke efi partition 6.1 method. DSDT.aml xp/darwin/vista tried all... Natit.kext, AppleAzalia.kext, LegacyYukon2.kext, Openhaltrestart.kext No need for cpudisabler anymore Gonna try 10.5.5 just with and without DSDT.aml Maybe old way and install CHUD + poweroff fix... MacManX
What happens when you remove the DSDT.aml file from the EFI Boot Partition? Won't that stop 10.5.6 from booting?

ApexDE
@macmanx Thats not confirmed. I read of a ga-ep45 user who doesn't use DSDT.aml, so thats why i ask you

Guest ѕиоѡ
Grrr, I need sleep on my rig. I never shut it down. I just came back and in idling state my screen image was nothing more then noise, like you get on a regular tv when there is no frequency. Bloody hell. dabla
Same problem here on my ls8-based installation, everything is working except sleep, seems to be a general problem in 10.5.
MacManX
Well, I suppose it's good that it's not just me, and if it's a widespread problem then it's more likely that someone will figure out the cause
xboxdude
Same on my Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3 too. Appears to sleep but is actually powered off. Was working perfectly fine in 10.5.5 with DSDT enabled.
sheeplover
Boot, Reboot and Sleep work for me with 10.5.6 on a GA-EP45-DQ6 and a GA-P35-DS4. I'm not using any disabler or DSDT-patch at all. MacManX
Interesting. I'll have to have a dig around when I get home and see what's different about your installation.

Was working perfectly fine in 10.5.5 with DSDT enabled. Same here, worked perfectly in 10.5.5 with and without DSDT enabled, weird that it still works for sheeplover though... For info: I'm using OpenHaltRestart.kext for shutdown but I don't think thats the reason why it doesn't work in 10.5.
MacManX
OpenHaltRestart isn't the problem; I removed it and the system still powers off when it should sleep.
Smoc
I had the same sleep issue that was caused by IOUSBFamily.kext. I just replace that by the old 10.5.5 IOUSBFamily.kext and sleep now works again

maroder
Here's the 10.5.5 kext to temporarily "fix" sleep. -Stell IOUSBFamily.kext.zip Thanks a bunch Stell. I'll try the Kext when I get home from work today and keep you postet if it solves the Problem. Could the Problem result from the new USB-Driver (no Jailbreak-iPhones), which Apple included in the 10.5.6-Update?
Guest ѕиоѡ
DO NOT TRY THIS! It broke (panic) my install with both mine and Stellarola's. Returned to 10.5.6 and all is good again.
