blackosx
Or, can you post your DSDT patched by koalala's patcher? You may be to add LegacyHDA.kext into /S/L/E or /Extra/Extensions. Don't forget to remove HADEnable.kext. Hi tmongkol, thanks for trying to help me. I am at work at the moment away from my hack, but I have some files with me which I am uploading here. I have attached 2 attempts. (I can't seem to be able to upload here, so I have hosted them elsewhere with links) AZAL has DSDT.aml for AZAL and screen grabs of settings used in koalala's patcher. HDEF has DSDT.aml for HDEF which used the same settings other than the audio section which there is a screen grab for as well. Now these are from koalala's patcher a couple of weeks ago and I haven't gone through your guide with them. One thing I have never tried is removing HDAEnabler.kext.. maybe I need to do that! Thanks

Thanks @blackosx Both DSDT.aml for AZAL and DSDT.aml for HDEF are OK. If you are using DSDT.aml for AZAL, you need patched AppleHDA.kext (or any legacy for GA-ALC888 & unpatched AppleHDA.kext) and HDAEnabler.kext. If you're using DSDT.aml for HDEF, you need only patched AppleHDA.kext or any legacy for GA-ALC888 & unpatched AppleHDA.kext.

Koplimi
Im having some trouble getting the sound device detected. I have a EP45-DS3R with 889A. As I have it now I have a DSDT.aml that has a HDEF-part exactly as the one in the guide. And I also have a AppleHDA.kext from your downloads. I have the "1.6.2a37 3outs2ins digital HDA headphone". (Since that is the desired config) So what I need is for someone more experienced to point me in the right direction of what I'm doing wrong. Thx in advance, and here are some pics. Koplimi
I actually did that, once i found the notice next to the download. But I still have the same result. I would also like to correct that Im using "1.5.7a24 3outs3ins digital HDA headphone". If I'm not mistaken this is the one to use för 10.5.7 and the one I said I used before is for some version of snow leopard? Any more ideas? To calarify my install i have 10.5.7 installed using Chameleon v2 RC2. And have the AppleHDA under EXTRA/Extensions along with some other kexts not related to audio. Otherwise, you may use legacy, it can be installed into /S/L/E or /Extra/Extensions and unpatched AppleHDA.kext is in /S/L/E. You don't need HDAEnable.kext if your DSDT.aml has HDEF code. Try install 1.5.7a24 AppleHDA.kext and HDAEnable.kext by using KextHelper. Also remove ALCinject.kext or Azalia???.kext if you have them before installing. WinstonAce
It's a little off topic but... the lan section in your dsdt could be better this: Device (GIGE) { Name (_ADR, Zero) Name (_PRW, Package (0x02) { 0x09, 0x03 }) Method (EWOL, 1, NotSerialized) { If (LEqual (Arg0, One)) { Or (GP9, One, GP9) } Else { And (GP9, Zero, GP9) } If (LEqual (Arg0, GP9)) { Return (Zero) } Else { Return (One) } } } will not cause the famous error upon boot: _CFGetHostUUIDString: unable to determine UUID for host. Error:
Vital
@Vital Assumimg that you are using 10.5.7. Try install 1.5.7a24 AppleHDA.kext and HDAEnable.kext by using KextHelper. Also remove ALCinject.kext or Azalia???.kext if you have them before installing. I have tried all 1.5.7a24 kexts, no luck. I get same error "0 == fInterruptSource". What I did: 1. rm -r /system/library/extensions/AppleHDA.kext 2. rm -r /system/library/extensions/HDAEnabler.kext 3. using Kext Helper I installed AppleHDA and HDAEnabler kexts from upacked 1.5.7a24 4. reboot Ins and Outs I have: out, in, mic, c/sub, rear, side
Cheezmen
This is great thanks I finally got 6 Channel out in osx :censored2: IS it possible for me to edit 1.5.7a24 888.zip to give me headphone out aswell?

I will add my guide for another option. However, I still got "_CFGetHostUUIDString: unable to determine UUID for host. Error: 35" if I did not add UUID.kext. I didn't have UUID key in smbios.plist. IS it possible for me to edit 1.5.7a24 888.zip to give me headphone out aswell? @Cheezmen The one you're using has Headphone if you plug in a headphone. It will change automatically from Speakers to Headphone if your front audio is supporting HDA/AZAL, not AC97. You may try LegacyHDA for ALC888, it's in How to patch DSDT...including LegacyHDA.zip. I am not sure about this. Can you get OSx86 Tools Utility (please search it, I will not make a link)? Run View PCI Device/Vendor ID and the result will be in root. Post your lspci.txt, I will see what I can do.

omatix
@omatix Did you try 1.5.7a24 888.zip and 1.6.2a37 888.zip on the first post? They should be installed into /System/Library/Extensions by using KextHelper. If AppleAzaliaAudio.kext is in /S/L/E, remove it. AppleHDA.kext cannot be in /Extra/Extensions or /Extra/Extensions.mkext. Sir, you rock. All outputs are available now, as far as I can see. Thank you very very much. I'm struggling a bit with the Aggregate Device setup, but hopefully I'll be able to google around to figure it out...
Opes
Hello. I have GA-EP45-DS5 motherboard with 889A sound, but I can't get it to work with Mac OS X 10.5.7. I have vanilla, and I am using Chameleon 2.0 RC2. I also have 1 headphone jack, and 1 mic jack in the rear of my case (P182), and I would like to get that to work too, if possible. I have tried many kexts but none of them are working. I remember when I was doing this half year ago I found something that worked, but can't seem to find it anymore. Can anyone help me? I attached my lspci file. lspci.txt
