hello cVaD

i love your kext utility.

i test it in 10.6.8

but keep showing this message. i cant use your utility

2.6.1 is working all os x version

but 2.6.2 and 2.6.3 are not working old osx verision. ex snow leopard

Test this build - Kext_Utility.app.v2.6.3a.zip

With v2.6.2 I updated the tool for developers, but v2.6.3a made with the old version devtool.

also appleboot.plist not added flag. it just added when using kext utility. after finish kext utility, i check appleboot.plist. no have flag.

 

it's good :)

 

i'm waiting for your new kext utility 2.6.4?

  • NEW! Unbelievable! Now KU can work with NVRam too.
  • Fixed incorrect work with national characters in the file paths with the updated developer tool.

but 2.6.4 is not work in snow leopard 10.6.8

also drop any kext for install on kext utility 2.6.4.

still keep showing message.  i'm sure 2.6.3a is perfect all osx. 2.6.4 still have problem

i redownload 2.6.4 in insanelymac and your homepage.

but still shown message.

 

i think you still not change 2.6.4 like 2.6.3a

I hope this is the final 2.6.4 version. :)  Specially for owners of older versions of Mac OS.

Hi, i have error install kext in elcapitan, what is the problem?

kext-dev-mode=1 and rootless=0 - Unfortunately, these keys are no longer working for future versions of Mac OS X starting with El Capitan GM.

You need disable SIP with Clover Bootloader.

Currently, it is not required - you can just disable unnecessary arguments in the KU configuration file.

Thanks I missed that config file.

 

For El Capitan and SIP, in my case, I have SIP file system protection on and kext signature off, and I put all extra kext to /L/E,

so I would love some new options if possible:

 

Install to /Library/Extension instead of /S/L/E

Option for skipping repair permission for /S/L/E

i found something in 10.6.8

 

chameleon bootloader use Extensions.kext long time ago.

 

clover not use Extensions.mkext

 

Clover Bootloader needs /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/kernelcache_x86_64.121AD149 file for booting 10.6.x

 

but Kext Utility only make /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext in 10.6.8

 

 

As result

i install kext in kext utility

then

i have to rebuild kernel cache like this

 

 

sudo chown root:admin /

sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel

sudo kextcache -system-caches

 

then reboot, i can boot.

 

 

Kext Utility is no problem in 10.7~10.11

 

Kext Utility make /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/kernelcache in others OS X 10.7~10.11

Hi, sherlocks.

KU does not make any cache files itself. The program only initiates the call system function to update cache files.

Unfortunately, for OS X version 10.6 standard cache file is Extensions.mkext.

I think KU surely make kernel cache file.

Because i checked cache file 10.6~10.11

 

In 10.7~10.11, KU works first permission and remove System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/kernelcache and make System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/kernelcache.

You can check this file. This is good. Because clover read this file when booting. So KU is no problem in 10.7~10.11

 

In 10.6, also KU works first permission then remove System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/ all files. And make Only System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extenstion.kext. i surely checked it.

 

 

Yes. I know Extention.kext file is Snow leopard Cache file.

 

Long time a go, when booting SL, chameleon bootloader read this file, when end Setup Asistant, put in kext file throughout KU. Because Chameleon Bootloader doesnt have fly to binary patch and inject kexts. Should place patched kexts in Extra/ or S/L/E. So extensions.kext files is no problem.

 

Clover bootloader read Extentions file. But we cant use Clover Features(Asus AICPUM, KextToPatch, others) with Normal boot. If like cameleon bootloader, i put "patched kext" in S/L/E. Extensions.kext load is no problem.

 

So, Clover needs System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/kernelcache files.

 

Can you add this command for 10.6 to use clover bootloader?

 

First i think clover issue. But my think is wrong. I sent many times. Also can see clover discussion thread my history about it.

 

We need terminal command in 10.6.x, after put kext in s/l/e throughout KU.

but

rebuild cache more time than terminal command.(installed SL on SSD)
