See my sig....227

I'm happy withe voltage to temp to performance ratio so I kept it here...have gotten it to post @ 4 Ghz and boot (for a few seconds at 3.8). I get it to run OK @ 3.6 but requires a lot more V on the CPU and mem.

I didn't notice a very significant increase in performance from 3.2 to 3.6...but that's my personal results.

My score above is without HDD test. But with HDD test(354.72) is much better.

PS: Maybe is your graphics card's problem?!

You must be running the HDD test with RAM disk or something...I've never seen OS X get scores like that with a real HD.

Your Xbench screenshot has the drive removed...it should show up in the list just below "Model - P5K-E" and above "CPU Test"

What is being hidden or changed? An "Uncached Write" performance of almost 3GB per second?

Sounds suspicious to me. :D

Not to hijack the thread - but if I have a working duo core (Pentium D930?) with working DUAL DVI Card, in theory (TIGER), could I upgrade the motherboard and CPU to what you have and just have it boot up? I'm thinking since its OSX, that this might work.

I would love to get a tiger system (for now, then Leopard when 10.5.2 (macworld?) comes out)) as your bench marks are the closest to a Mac Pro...and the rumored displays would be tight with a mac hack.

Thanks for the advice. Also would appreciate where you would find instructions for Leopard - although I have a mac and leopard, but not installed, pro tools (not supported) and some say Logic uses more CPU with Leopard - still, I wouldn't mind getting a score close to yours, very Mac Pro - also, if you don't mind me asking, what cost would the motherboard CPU be? newegg?

Peace and Happy Holidays an New Year.

That are real HDDs with ZFS format( Two HDDs: Seagate 7200.11 500G) , you can google it or look at this link: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/whatis/If you want to try it with Leopard, just go to apple developer website to download the file for ZFS.

Try running Xbench with your boot drive and post the results then. Your System Profiler shows your boot disk as being "Leopard" and the disk you tested with as being "zfsn"

I bet your Xbench will be in line with the results being posted by everyone else.

I'm going to dig into it some more...I had read about ZFS some time ago but it is interesting to see a Mac implementation of it and those are some brutal numbers. I'll probably install on one of my machines to play with...

In fairness, most people here are benchmarking the boot drive. Thanks for adding to the post and clearing it up. I'll be watching the ZFS development more closely now...I may have a new idea for my media storage.

Leopard shipped with read-only support for ZFS volumes. The guide below shows how to get r/w but this really is experimental and not something I'd include in a stable daily-use machine:

http://www.lildude.co.uk/howto-create-a-zf...m-os-x-leopard/

I've installed the ZFS Beta Seed 1.1 from the Apple Developer Connection. It has some impressive speeds, even with a single SATA drive. I'll play with the RAID-Z setting in a few days when I get a matched HD cleared off to use.

We'll see how it goes...maybe Apple will get a full-blown implementation of it in a bootable form.

Thanks to Wesley8 for tipping me off on this version...something to play with now. ;)
