pocopico
Does anyone know if Enabling SSE/SSE2 would show any improvements in performance?? Yamcha i'm not sure what u mean by "enabling". You dont just enable or disable it. It is a capability of your processor either you have it or not... of course your has SSE2 AND SSE3 instruction set extention... Please check : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSE3 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/139-sse2-and-sse3-information-please-read/page/7/#findComment-583104 Share on other sites
bronxboyXXX
System profiler says nothing. My system seems to be running okay (however a little more speed would be nice). How do i know if I'm running on SSE2 or SSE3? This is Jas OS 10.4.8. Also I noticed that when i go into iTunes/ preferences /advanced / importing and look under details it says optimized for MMX/SSE2. Anybody know if this is normal? The info below was copied form system profiler Hardware Overview: Machine Name: Apple Development Platform Machine Model: ADP2,1 Processor Name: Intel Core Duo Processor Speed: 1.6 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache (per processor): 2 MB Memory: 512 MB Bus Speed: 533 MHz Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/139-sse2-and-sse3-information-please-read/page/7/#findComment-583235 Share on other sites
Slice
We don't need to bother about SS3. Have - good, don't have - no problem. Do not patch any application! OpenGL, CoreGraphics and so on always SSE3. They works! Close? robydream
ok...people say that for full unmodified vanilla kernel you need SSE3 cpu...ok that is true..but have maybe tray someone Intel Pentium 4, socket 478, Prescott , this cpu has SSE3 instruction set and i think that this must be full compatibile to run vanilla kernel....i have 2.80c GHz Northwood witch does not have SSE3, so could someone with Prescott try run vanilla kernel ( in CPU-Z is showing SSE3) Waiting for you post.... thanks..
