ssprod
Acer 5315-iATKOS latest release (April 09) Thanks a million! After a million tries, finally got it happening! Followed your instructions specifically. Went into System Pref's Network settings and had Apple assist me, found my network, and Kismac didn't. Connected as I write this. Thanks again. shine-away
When I just used the IO80211Family.kext on my iDeneb 1.4 install I got dreadful kernel panics. But when I followed the tutorial that jasballz posted, I installed his kexts and those dreaded panics have gone Though I do need to restart and shutdown in alternate patterns until KisMAC Finds networks. KisMAC sometimes does the following errors: ~ Won't scan, when I authenticate the spindle doesn't spin. ~ Scans but gets stuck when it's scanned 75%. (on the number 4) ~ Scans all the way through but just doesn't pickup any networks. To correct the errors I need to turn off Airport (it's works best when you turn it off and the airport icon still stays on), then all I have to do is Shutdown, Power on and run KisMAC. If it still doesn't work and does one of the above errors, I turn off airport and Shutdown and Power on.
vjrngn123
OK here is my attempt at a guide: First, make sure the card is on in another OS and restart. Those of you hoping to not have to dual boot are out of luck right now. 1. Starting from 10.5.5 and a vanilla kernel. 2. Download and install the Airport Update 2008-004. Reboot. 3. Download and install the IO8211Family.kext at the beginning of this thread with Kexthelper unless you feel like doing all of the permission repairs and stuff. 4. Download and install Kismac trunk r319. 5. Reboot. You have a 40% chance of getting a boot without a kernel panic. Just retry, it will eventually reboot fine. 6. Open Kismac before you do anything. Go to prefererences and find the tab for drivers. Add the Airport Extreme Passive mode one. Active mode does not work. Exit that menu and then click start scan. You will start to see networks. Once you see networks quit Kismac. 7. Now go the airport icon in the top bar and click on Join Other Network. (if the icon is not there you need to go to network preferences and enable the icon.) Then click on show networks. Your network will come up. Click on it, click join and then it will ask you for your network password. Enter that and then it will connect to your network and be stable. You will have to set up a network in the networking preference panel for the airport card just like normal. On my Presario C771 the WIFI lights are not on blue but the card still works. When you restart you will sometimes get a kernel error. Just try again. When you restart you will only have to do steps 6 and 7 and will not have to reenter you network password if you put it in your keychain when prompted. It works everytime I boot now as long as the hardware button on the notebook is not pressed. The network stays on all the time and is fast. If you also get it to work please let us know. Pictures attached. hey thanks a lot!!! i am running kalyway 10.5.2 leaopard on my compaq presario c773tu,core 2 duo, and your method worked like a charm...thanks a million!!!! gbish
Hi guys, How do I start fresh without any drivers? I used to see the Airport Application and the card in stalled but now it says no airport card detected no matter what I do, the drivers are still installed? How do I go back to a clean slate? Cheers, Raz EDIT: Got it working after screwing around with installing and reinstalling .kext files and repairing permissions, I used the 2.1.2 .kext file in the end and now it is all working. I have no disconnects and it seems to be working good. Thanks to all that helped in this thread. I'm single booting OS X 10.5.6 on Aspire One A110 with a modified 30gb zif ipod drive (8gb ssd was slow as a dying snail). WORKED like a charm!! hagisbasheruk
Yep, it is working on the Acer Aspire One (A150). http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=Glxv8XzeOVY pci.subsys_vendor_id: mine is e008 pci.subsys_product_id: mine is 105b pci.vendor_id: mine is 168c pci.product_id: mine is 1c Windows: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C&SUBSYS_E008105B&REV_01 pci.subsys_vendor_id: mine ise008 pci.subsys_product_id: mine is 105b pci.vendor_id: mine is 168c pci.product_id: mine is 1c Linux4One (Ubuntu 8.0.4): sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install gnome-device-manager String: <string>pci008,105b</string> <string>pci168c,1c</string> I have attached IO80211Family Aspire One A150.kext I currently have the kext from the first post working but i would like to replace it with your one. I have only been OSXing on my AAO A150 for 2 days now so i'll ask some silly questions now What is the correct procedure to remove the current kext and replace it with yours (silly question no1 ) Silly question No2 to follow some other day Forget what i asked above i renamed the IO80211Family Aspire One A150.kext toIO80211Family.kext ran it in Kext Helper b7 made. The Wifi with that method: then sudo pico /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist (edit and just add -f flag): <code><key> Kernel </ key> <string> mach_kernel </ string> <-- (if you have Voodoo kernel string will be different) <key> Kernel Flags </ key> <string>-f </ string> </code> <<< change here (Restart) Download and install Kismac trunk r319 CLICK WIFI ON Run Kismac (Add Airport Extreme Passive mode driver in KISMAC > PREFERENCIES > DRIVER and close Prefs window) Then click scan and you should see networks , close KisMAC now. Click Airport Icon and you should now see networks coming up Don't forget switch off Airport before system shutdown procedure (after reboot you must switch on airport, next go to the Kismet and run network scanning - after this procedure WiFi networks will be available in the Airport icon each time). This has worked for me on every successful boot , i had 3 kernel crashes on boot out of 20 and those 17 succesfull boots resulted in wifi working , YAY Thanks every one !! shadow28b
Hello everyone I have updated to 10.5.5 downloaded the modified IO802011Family.kext from this thread Installed Apple Airport Extreme Update 2008004 (requires 10.5.5) I now have a working Wifi in OSX 10.5.5 It IS CONSISTENT now. Here's what I do Always turn off AirPort BEFORE you shutdown Turn Airport on when you boot, then scan LET IT FINISH! Run KisMac (driver AirPort Extreme passive mode), networks should start appearing close KisMac and scan using the AirPort Icon, connect to your wireless network If it does not work, SHUTDOWN (not restart) and start over. Remember to turn off Airport before you do I have it working 99.99% of the time Thank you all

Sylux240
Well this may sound Crazy but i tryed running Kismac and it didn't find any networks on my Acer aspire One. So i Kept Trying and Trying no luck ... Well i was working with kismac And in the Preferences i noticed that you cant fit the whole window in the Resolution Use on the aser Aspire 1 (1024x600) So i plugged in my external Monitor and Moved Kismac over to that display and looked at the Bottom of the Preferences ... well i changed hopping Frequency over to 0.40 and Ran it and it Found my network... i was happy. but the next time i tryed it with out the External Monitor Plugged in and it woldint find networks so i plugged the monitor back in Move kismac over to is and hit scan and it Found it. so im confused, but it works. i Tryed it 5 times each with Same Result So You all That Cant Find Networks Plug In an External Monitor And Move The KisMac window Over to the Monitor and Hit Scan And See if it works. Please Post if It Works

i2planet
I found this tutorial and was able to get my Atheros AR5007 to work. But then after reboot could not replicate success. Kismac wouldn't even scroll thru the frequencies - it would just act like I didn't push the button. I reinstalled the drivers, tried different versions of Kismac, rebooted 100x but could not get it to work again. So, I reinstalling iDeneb 10.5.6 w/ update - again Kismac only worked once. So, I downloaded and installed iAtkos 10.5.7; installed the Broadcom wifi driver during set up; performed the "0" to "1" change mentioned in the tutorial; installed the IO80211Family.kext; reboot; worked once; reboot; NOT WORKING BUT KISMAC WAS SCROLLING THRU THE FREQUENCIES.....(iAtkos fixed my HD audio problem BTW...speakers and headphones working without even trying to fix them ) What did finally work, however was disabling my unused ethernet adapter! I saw it was active (green), even though I wasn't plugged in. Once I deactivated it..BAM all the networks showed up in Kismac even after reboot. I don't even have to update Kismac settings after reboot (step 6). So, anyone having problems w/ Kismac being a 1 trick pony, give this a try. michaeljr10wv
HI, folks. I just bought a Acer Apire D250 and all works out of the box after installing iatkos 7 10.5.7, but the wireless. I downloaded the kext from the first post rebooted, went into system preferences and network and it found the wireless. I shut preferences and opened Kismac, selected the airport extreme passive mode, and scanned. It found my home wireless almost immediately. I shut kismac and clicked the fan by the clock and my home network was listed. I typed in my wep key and it WORKS! After each reboot I have to run kismac and scan for networks to get it to work, but it WORKS! Thanks Michael

MikeRun
Hello everybody, after several tries I got the wireless working in my Samsung NC10. I'm writing this post with Safari under iDeneb v1.4 upgraded to OS X 10.5.7. The only hint to get it working after shutdown is that you have to clear the extension cache. To perform this I use the OSX86Tools. Here a few pictures: My Samsung NC10 for my home office! Everything is working fine... ...even Spaces! Attached you'll find the kext I used for my setup Greetz, Mike IO80211Family.kext.zip
sm01
I swapped my Intel 3945 for someone's Atheros AR5007, and it seems to be working, BUT there are some problems. After a reboot, nothing really works. Can't scan for networks, and Kismac doesn't work. I have to reinstall the kext before hand, reboot, and then it'll all start working. So, does anyone know a way around this stuff? I don't wanna have to reinstall the kext every single time I boot, or use Kinsmac.
