Does anyone know what causes the weird texturing/compression artifacts that are present in all screenshots? It doesn't matter what program I use to take the screenshot, either using apple+shift+3, Grab.app, or Snap 'n Drag; they all produce the same results.

Here's an example: http://outrigged.com/misc/2005.09.11.png

If you look at the background wallpaper, you can easily see what I'm talking about.

that happened to me too

One more thing. If you plan on putting a screenshot on the internet, you will need to convert it from .tiff format (i think its tiff) to something like jpeg, etc. Grab won't do it, so I use Grab I load the saved screenshot into a working build of Preview.app, then select EXPORT from the pull down menu, export where ever, and select the format you want to change it to. SAVE AS does not give you this option. There are many other methods, but thought I'd throw it out there.
