Hi all,

i've installed OS X 10.4.4/5 for x86 yesterday at my Dell Dimension 8300. All went fine, the system is running very smooth. But one thing goes wrong: the machine doesnt make a shutdown when i want to reboot into XP (or just want to go to bed :gun:). It hangs at a blank black screen with a non-blinking cursor. I'm waiting some time (longest time was around 20 Minutes) but nothing happens, even no error-message appears. Next time i want to ruin OS X the filesystem has to replay some lost transactions. Until now nothing worse is happen, but i think it is dangerous to switch the machine off instead off shutting down properly. What should i do?

Thanks, J.

PS: The reboot after the installation-process was ok, there were 3 lines with "mach-kernel is rebooting" or such things.

In my case i have a partial solution since yesterday: I've changed the graphics card. Before i've had a Geforce FX 5900 and now a ATI x1600 Pro (AGP). Unfortunately i had to reinstall the whole OS (10.4.4 updated to 10.4.5), because i cant get it to run except it was booting with "-x" :) . After Reinstall with the new graphics card and some work at its config the machine is running fine with QE/CI-enabled :D in 1280x1024 :D :D and it makes a proper shutdown in 9 times of 10.

regards, J.

Same problem here with ASRock 775Dual-915GL.

Exact same installation on Intel D915GAG doesn't have the same problem.

On the ASRock the issue is with my wireless USB adapter. See here.

I had the ASROCK 775DUAL-915GL for a while and I did not having any shutdown or restart problems with 10.4.5 or 10.4.6.. But unfortunatelly I had to return it cause it was faulty...
