adamworthy
Hi, does anyone know where I can find a retail copy of OS 9 for my iMac g3 so I can install OS X? Needs to be able to be shipped to the UK. The only one I found was over £50 including postage . Thanks for any help.
hecker
You probably already did this, but how about searching ebay for it? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Install-Apple-OS-9-2...A1%7C240%3A1318
adamworthy
Yeah I saw the iBook one but I heard it needs to be one for the iMac or a retail one. Also tried a few from the pirate bay none will boot

Slip
Depends what brand of CD. Some work pretty good. others not. I can't remember the brand that was recommended -- google around. I suppose you've found the CD version of Tiger? FWIW The VLC site " There never was or will be a version for OS9"
crimsonredmk
Hey adamworthy, I'm in the US, but have an original OS 9 CD I could ship to you. I'm just unsure about shipping and have never shipped anything to the UK. PM me if you still need the CD.

adamworthy
if it anything like my G3 you'll want to disable spotlight and dashboard while your at it It all seems to be working pretty well when I use it. Just a shame my processor restricts me to the software I can install .
A Nonny Moose
if it anything like my G3 you'll want to disable spotlight and dashboard while your at it Spotlight was downright ugly when it came to indexing my G3 Mac. Took forever to do it! For Dashboard, it is manageable so long as you aren't stupid and overload it with widgets.

If you already own OSX Tiger disk, maybe you can download OS9 off of TPB. I don't know if I am allowed to post links to such, so I wont for now, but I seen one with a good 100+ seeders. You could have the iso in half an hour or so.

I bought a retail copy and it worked perfectly.
