wow,

u do a great job.

THAT'S A GUIDE, i can do this...

but the notice inside your install-textfile confuses me a bit, shall i ignore it.

Notice:

DSDT.aml patch is unfinished, but with this table you can boot and run OS X without Disabler.kext. Since it seems that public sharing smbios.plist have some legal issues, it is not included into the package. But using parameter SMexternalclok 200 (on Intel C2D T7500) seems to make system a little cooler, and the battery is holding system powered about 3h.

that's why i have some questions:

shall i ignore that notice completely and follow your latest post? if not? ...

1.) do i have to erase disabler.kext or can i keep it where it is?

2.) do i need to find/get a smbios.plist, if yes, where shall i put it?

3.) do i need SMexternalclok 200 parameter? if yes, how/where shall i put it in? I am working with Acer 5920G Intel C2D T73[/b]00

and most importantly: is it dangerous/unstable to work with DSDT.aml ? any risks of overheating?

thx a lot guys

You should keep disabler.kext. If you delete it, appleintelcpupowermanager.kext will make the cpu to run hotter.

Also, there are new disabler.kext versions which disable a kext which was causing problems with latests quicktime versions, so is a good idea to keep it anyway.

I just used the included smbios.plist on chameleon, but I tweak / deleted some entries to make it work properly on my desktop system. It goes in \Extra

A properly patched DSDT.aml will make your computer run better in most cases (except if you delete the disabler because of the previously explained reason)

Hi!

I begin my message by saying "sorry if when I write there are many mistakes, it's because I have littel skill in English but I am learnig"

so, I try to install Leopard 10.5 on my ACER 5920G but I have a problem.

My PC freeze after the line : "NVDANV50HAL loaded and registered".

The stuf on my PC is littel different :

-processor : T5550

-video card: GEFORCE 9500M GS

I have flashed the BIOS of my motherbord with your patch but not the BIOS of my video card (because I would like simply to make developpement, so I think it isn't useful for me)

I try many arguments when the boot phase but nothing change and I can't see "Error".

The last lines are :

_______________________________________________________________________________

localhost mDNSResponder[48]:mDNSDynamicStoreSetConfig: Mach communication failed: (ips/send) invalid destination port

Resetting IOCatalogue.

Matching service count = 1

localhost kextd[47]: root filesystem is read-only; skipping kernel link data generation

ACPI_SMC_CtrlLoop::initCPUCtrlLoop - pmCPUControl (PMIOCSETPSTATETABLE) return 0x6789740

NVDANV50HAL loaded and registered

________________________________________________________________________________

so, have you got an idea?

Thank you.

-video card: GEFORCE 9500M GS

I don't know if Os X has a driver for that card. All I know is 9x00 series driver were first included in 10.5.6 version. So just look for info about that specific model in the forum.

About flashing the bios, I think you should had been more careful. I don't know if the same bios is compatible with all 5920G variations.

ignore that Notice ;)

As VooD already said:

1. - keep disabler.kext installed

2. - smbios.plist is not critical for system to work, so - no, you do not need it :).

3. - SMexternalclock 200 is parameter inside smbios.plist. Google around for smbios.plist ;). In my case it helped IntelEnhancedSpeedStep.kext to work as it is meant to work (no more sound ticks from iTunes when some other cpu intensive application is active). But VoodooPower.kext looks like better option for C-state CPU power management.

and most importantly: is it dangerous/unstable to work with DSDT.aml ? any risks of overheating?

try it, there should not be any problems with overheating.

I have flashed the BIOS of my motherbord with your patch

Use official BIOS update v1.3813, that version has everything you need to run both cpu cores on OSX.

...but not the BIOS of my video card

Don't even think about it! Only rom that you can put inside your video card is one from vendor or slightly modified rom taken from your card. There is third option, very risky to do, but we will not talk about that :)

I try many arguments when the boot phase but nothing change and I can't see "Error".

so, have you got an idea?

not really... :)

Did you run installation on clean disk or are there some other partitions on it (Windows maybe) ?

Looks like it isn't really so good to write instructions in 03:00AM after hours and hours of typing zeroes and ones :D

try this...

copy DSDT.aml in system's root directory (aka /)

copy com.apple.Boot.plist in /Extra

install Acer5920GHDA.kext with Kext Helper

...reboot and see if sound works.

If not, try to delete /Extra/Extensions.mkext with sudo rm /Extra/Extensions.mkext .

If there is still no sound, I will try to reproduce the problem and find the solution. ;)

I'm currently solving issues on one i7+EX58-UD5 system, and found one interesting system patch installer...in next few days maybe one new package could come here :)

I have done that, but unfortunately i got THIS at every boot:

MAC Framework successfully initialized

using 10485 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers

IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vector 64:87

... and then it stops ... nothing ... dead :(

(i shot a pic from it, but i am not able to connect my nokia 6300 with 10.5.5 :( ... that's why i have to write it down, i hope it helps.)

btw: my /Extra folder is pretty empty, only smbios.plist and com.apple.Boot.plist are inside.

did I miss something? 'Cause you were talking about /Extra/Extensions.mkext ... the only

Extensions.mkext that I have is inside /System/Library/.

one more question:

the extensions inside the Chameleon-2.0RC1-r431-bin.tar folder (optional Extras/Extensions)

IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext, ATAPortInjector.kext and AHCIPortInjector.kext ...

are those necessary or helpful to make it work? Because I left them where they were from the beginning.

unfortunately I can't find any guide in the I-net about how to manage the /Extra folder,

managing the Extensions and themes and other stuff.

Earlier you guys were talking about the USBBusFix=Yes parameter and how to make it enabled by default,

I could use some help there :(

thx a lot guys

It is ACPI related error, it looks like you can't use my DSDT.aml. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=78235

Delete that DSDT.aml and try to compile your own DSDT.aml.

I was using Chameleon-2.0-r431.pkg to install it, and with it came Extensions.mkext inside /Extra. Kexts inside /Extra/Extensions are maybe helpful, but not necessary. You can delete them.

For USBBusFix=Yes, write this inside /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist file.

	<key>USBBusFix</key>
<string>Yes</string>

I suggest you not to use the pkg to install chameleon but to follow the instructions in the raw files package. There are a couple of extensions included in that package that are quite useful in order to avoid orange disk icons without having to use a hacked version of AppleAHCIFamily.kext.

AHCIPortInjector.kext and IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext will save you to use the hacked kext for fixing the orange disk icons and having to rehack the kext with each new MacOS X update.

Get a Dell card, they are VERY cheap on ebay, and even at dell's web. And they are directly supported by Os X and recognized as a real airport, so no need for wrapper applications, drivers, or external software to configure your wifi.

Also installation is a kid's game just remove the intel and plug the new one and the antenna cables.

Hey people.

I got my dell mini -pcie card today you suggested me, and I'm almost close to a 100% working mac: just need 5.1 sound through s/pdif to finish this project.

Is there anyone that can tell me what driver to get to get 5.1 working through the spdif jack of this laptop? 2ch is max for now, selecting encoded digital audio causes the default device being switched back to headphones.

Thanks in advance!

nice,

AHCIPortInjector.kext and IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext inside /Extra make it boot even better. :D

after having no success with Acer5920GHDA.kext, i tried to make ALC888STNotebook.kext work ... but no luck.

don't know why. doesn't show any input/output devices now :(

with azalia I had at least output.

did I do something wrong?

or does ALC888STNotebook.kext have to be combined with some kext.

I used/installed as if it were a standalone-kext.

left everything like it was before, just erased azalia and then installed ALC888STNotebook.kext with kexthelper.

hope someone can help, otherwise I have to stuck with Azalia.

btw, VooD, are u sure that I can just go for it an install 10.5.6 update because of these kexts inside /Extra ... without backing-up or preparing something before updating?

wow... I am a little bit scared to be honest... since everything besides sound is working so smooth atm

good night everybody

this is weird...In my case, all that I need is HDA EFI string inside com.apple.Boot.plist (or DSDT.aml with patched HDEF section) with Acer5920GHDA.kext in /S/L/E...

Here is my /Extra folder.... Extra.zip

just try to replace yours /Extra with this one, I made some alteration in efi string.

And maybe...just maybe...maybe you have some slight variation in motherboard configuration. Send me ioreg dump with sudo ioreg -lw0 > ioregdump.txt from Terminal and if you have audio codec dump from linux if this doesn't work.

Acer5920GHDAv1.1.zip

This package is updated with alc888 efi string and little cleaned up folder. :D

shall i keep it that way, or shall I use your latest post (Acer5920GHDAv1.1.zip) and use your Acer5920GHDA.kext ???

@all:

anyone got TeamViewer working on mac?

On Windows I never had any problems with teamviewer... ust clicked on private use (non-comercial) and there I go. But under mac he keeps telling me..license number not valid  hmmm ... anyone knows anything about this?

Leopard has its own remote desktop client by default. It's based on VNC, I don't remember the path, but you can just type something like vnc://192.168.1.101 in safari and the program will open automatically.

I don't know if ALC888STNotebook.kext will give autoswitching on HP out and Mic in, you can try that by plugging headphones jack in both jacks and checking response inside Sound system preferences. But, I'm advising you to use Acer5920GHDA.kext instead.

Which question?

Yes, you can go to 10.5.6 update. I'm using 10.5.6 practically from the beginning. Everything is working as described in my sig.

9a6paf and VooD,

i hope you guys know how much your work mean to me.

i was about to go and buy a macbook because i was done with micro$hit.

But now I have my working mac thanks to you guys :D

one thing,

i am working with D-Link DWL-G122 USB Wlan-Stick at the moment.

i attached the mac driver which was on the driver-cd.

one problem that i have...

whenever i unplug a usb-stick/hard-disc, my D-Link DWL-G122 gets disconnected to,

and then i have re-plug it in another usb-slot to get i-net-connection back.

I had this problem from the beginning (for 1/2 year).

Any way to solve this?

well, really all credits goes to VooD as he started this topic and to developers/researchers (netkas, Taruga, superhai, voodoo team, The King, mackerintel and others). I was just doing combination of their solutions for problems. My next step is to resolve proper gfx efi string for 8600M GT 512MB (maybe snow leo could work afterwards :D), and maybe later to try to rewrite included generic uvc driver in macam 0.9.2 for Acer's Crystal Eye.

I can't help you with that, except advice not to unplug the usb storage :D :D

Have anyone tried installing 10.5.7 Combo Update Yet?

Im too dependent of my working installation at the moment (too much work stuff), so I cannot install the update without any info if everything works as with 10.5.6.

By the way, I have 5920g - 102G16N model version and I still need to say that my shutdown is not working. Everything else is.

Hi!

Your post about DSDT was very helpful!!! Could you explain how to install ALC888STNotebook.kext, and maybe I should replace any other kext? I have no luck with this kext. Also could you give an original AppleHDA.kext - I have only yours modifying.
