I don't know what I must to do to boot OS from new SATA disk. If I boot from SATA then I have black screen with blinking cursor... Anybody could tell me what i do wrong? miliuco
Perhaps you can solve your problem so: boot the PC from a boot CD with Ghost 2003 and clone the PATA disk to the SATA disk. You have a boot CD image with Ghost 2003 (in spanish - size: 4,3 MB) here: miliuco.net/soft/bootcd_msdos.zip (www at the beginning) -TiLT- I correct the link, Ghost 2003 is commercial software. -TiLT-
I don´t think Ghost is free or shareware. Please remove the link. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13382-ata-sata/#findComment-85241 Share on other sites
psajcho
what do you think about dd command from LiveCD Linux? exaple DSL? :> Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13382-ata-sata/#findComment-85551 Share on other sites
miliuco
The dd command is valid but you must know how to use it from a Linux system. Not only the if (infile) and of (outfile) parameters but also the bs (blocksize) and count (inputblocks) parameters. Ghost 2003 is really easy to use. miliuco
ok, but i don't have windows os :\ But you don't need Windows anyway, I'm talking about a boot CD to boot the PC from it and you get 2 apps: Ghost 2003 and Partition Magic 8. With Ghost 2003 you can select an option to clone a disk to another, it doesn't matter the partition type or the filesystem, Ghost copy the disk bit to bit (raw format), try it. psajcho: ¿hablas español? Si me lees bien, yo he copiado Tiger x86 de un disco pequeño a otro mayor con Ghost y funcionó bien, no sé si a tí te dará resultado.
