walterav
Could this really be why the Airport card isn't being picked up? @walterav out of interest does your airport card show up on a kalyway install (if you have one)? @ digital_dreamer and wolfienuke and others who've had the board for a while - have any of you had any issues with airport cards/wireless using retail/efi install and/or kalyway? @mattrb - what have you tried (if anything) to get the card running? I really want to try and get this working did you patch dsdt.aml, btw remove it, than see if the lan works... Don't know about the kalyway 10.5.2 not gonna trie it... started with kalyway 10.5.1 a year ago, had it running for 2/3weeks till i discoverd the retail vanilla method, after that never gone back. But if you are running a 1052 kalyway, your also able to make a perfect retail leopard install on a other harddisk from within running kalyway... Can you just post the whole installation method you used, from scratch and all the terminal commands. How did you make your retail vanilla installation? How did you do te EFI partition, did you do it manually or by script? From diskutil to All the terminal steps, >>>>>>>>>>>"and all the files you added and patched"<<<<<<<<<<<< I can tell ya its not more than... 30 lines , which can be copied past. and not more than 3 files need to be added to boot succesful with a retail install except for lan audio and video, sleep etc. Just to make sure not more patched files are added than necessary. WiFi is in the pci slot, ''2 CASE slots away from the videocard, which is in the upper 16x express slot". Don't own the board so had to ask someone to look at it. BTW the graphics card uses a single case slot. hope it helps... btw running 10.5.5 and 10.5.5 kernel ofcourse

You can use voodoo, but you will need to add a bootflag of "busratio=20" if you have the 920. I would use osx86 tools to install the voodoo kernel and system.kext
mattrb
Is anyone testing out the ACPI Patcher for BIOS and AML, CPU Cores, HPET, RTC, TM, GFX http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=142434 Does this work on i7?
wolfienuke
Is anyone testing out the ACPI Patcher for BIOS and AML, CPU Cores, HPET, RTC, TM, GFX http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=142434 Does this work on i7? Why use a PC application when this can be done with the dsdtpatcher command line tool in mac os x? The other DSDT Patcher patch DSDT and only generate DSDT.aml.This one patch BIOS and can generate DSDT.aml if you don't want to flash. Moreover, you can use it on any PC, since you don't need anything from the PC you want to patch. However, it has less compatibility since most notebooks have Phoenix BIOSes or InsydeH2O. In 0.2 you will be able to generate only fixed DSDT.aml from extracted DSDT.aml but not from BIOS file. But if you patch you're BIOS, you don't need to care about DSDT.aml later. It will be capable to provide HDEF audio too and more compilation fixes with autofix in version 0.2 I really don't like the idea of using a non-official bios on a new motherboard like this, but feel free to do so yourself if you are braver than me. Just make sure you have a backup of your bios (or download the official version from gigabyte).
vintageawv
UPDATE: 1/17/2008 Tutorial has been updated for 10.5.6 Standalone kext package and Boot-132 installer package now includes the Voodoo-based 9.6.0 kernel. DigitalDreamer, Using the EFI Partition method, would I just replace the current voodoo kernal 9.5 with 9.6 and re run wolf's script?
Mercury92
So I put iAtkos 5i again. But this time used Voodoo kernel. I have some questions. 1.) Last time I used iAtkos 5i TOH kernel. Then i updated to 10.5.6 but my USB didnt stopped working. (iPod). Mouse and keyboard were working. How to fix that? 2.) So I installed Voodoo kernel. I booted up with busratio=20. How to make it automatically, not to type everytime to boot into Mac? I cant find apple.com.Boot.plist file ... 3.) And mac shows up that I have only 7 cores. Is it ok? Thanks, Mercury
Craig4
Alrighty well yesterday I finally made some progress and got my video working with HA, CI, and QE so every things seems to be working now. There are a few more things I would like to get done to say that it is closer to perfect since it will most likely never be perfect. First of all I used wolfies script and didn't get a splash screen, so I was wondering if it was taken out or what might be happening with that. Also when booting since I don't have a splash screen I see all of what is going on and am seeing a lot of fail to loads and other things that don't seem to be good. Is there a place that these things are logged so I can post them here? The last thing is when I plug in an external they will not show up unless I reset with them plugged in. Is this due to the new seatbelt.kext? does anyone have a link to the 10.5.5 if you think this is my problem. other then that it seems like everything is good as of now, besides COD4 multiplayer only working, don't know if anyone would have a solution for that. thanks everyone for the help. I will use the retail guide v4.4 for my main install. Will report back. Good to see it. I just got my second X58 board from EVGA too. I installed iATKOS 10.5.5 w/ 9.2.0 TOH kernel. I couldn't install voodoo or anything better than 9.2.0. It seems to me the installation went thru OK except sound. Since it has the same ALC889a chip, I tried DD's kext, APPLEHDA & HDAenabler, but it's not working yet. Hey, I'm a noobo, I'm trying to learn. Also, the deep sleep got me into rebooting again. I want to try 10.5.6 distro like IPC. I have a GA EX58-UD5, which is very good mobo, but somehow this board gives me 'Verifyig DMI pool...' hang trouble when set as AHCI mode, it was on and off. I just couldn't figure out yet. But EVGA's AHCI mode doesn't give me any trouble which is good. I could be a good testing... Thanks guys... Thanks, Mercury I'm sure the kernel from your iAtkos install was replaced with the Apple-supplied 9.6 version, so may have a mis-matched kernel/System.kext issue affecting USB hot-plugging. The 7 core display is just a reporting issue - all 8 cores are fully functional. Craig A "perfect" install is the holy grail of a Hackintosh. Worth pursuing up to a point. If there is a -v flag in the boot.plish, you will get the visible boot verbiage. On the other hand, the splash screen doesn't offer anything of value. Open Console and view your system.log for the same boot log. USB/FireWire devices not mounting unless at boot time is usually an indication of a mismatched kernel/System.kext. OS X 10.5.5 running the Voodoo kernel/System.kext had this same issue. This has been fixed in the Voodoo-based 9.6 version. Kalyway 10.5.2 works perfectly fine on my build. Its featuring the x58 tri sli board from EVGA. I will use the retail guide v4.4 for my main install. Will report back. So, you are up and running, eh? EVGA? Nice board from what I've seen. Of course, this would be for later, but I enjoyed looking through this thread: EVGA X58 Overclocking Guide. Does it have the core activation issue that ASUS has? I have a hard time getting technical information on EVGA's boards. Their website has nothing! The only info I have (from peering at the WIN drivers) is that the X58 board has the Realtek chips for LAN (8169, 8168, or 8101E?) and audio (HDAHP880?). What info do you have? Does the info show up in the Profiler? Glad you're up and running after all that. regards, MAJ

Are you saying if I don't want to see all that text I can take the -v out and I won't see it. Also any idea why I don't have the splash screen, it would just be a nice little addition. For the Voodoo, I will go try that out right now and let you know if that fixed my issue. I must have the old one that was with wolfies script. thanks again, you and wolfie have been a lot of help with me getting this system up and running, and the reason I switched out my intel board. edit: hey quick question I tried searching for the 9.6 kernel but wasn't able to find anything. Is it actually by voodoo, or is it the 9.6 based off voodoo? If you have a link let me know. alright went into system log and here is one of the codes: Jan 21 21:12:36 Craigs-Maci7 kernel[0]: Sound assertion "0 != result" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-162.1.37/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 2742 goto handler

I tried to go thru System Preferences' Sound to enable the Line-out speakers, but it didn't work. But I think there must be way to install these audio kexts. I will be trying. Actually, on the voodoo kernels, I just chose from the customization from iATKOS 10.5.5 which didn't install. I guess I don't know how to changes busratio=20 yet. Yes, it reminds me in the beginning when we had x58 board back in a month ago. I guess I will be looking up the way to do it again. huh... googlesmith
Hey My brother and me are trying to get osx working on the GA-EX58-DS4. So far we've gotten kalyway 10.5.2 to work, but since we have the ATI 3650 we need atleast 10.5.3 to get a usable build. We'll be trying iAtkos 5i later today, but we read that someone had a problem with it. Maybe we'll end up using the ToH kernel. How about voodoo, from what i understand we'll be needing voodoo 2.0 (9.6) to get the i7 working like it should, where can we download this from? Found it: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...p;#entry1049827 If anyone has any other pointers to help us out we'd appreciate it. Cheers. PS: We're not total noobs, personally i'm running vanilla 10.5.5 on my own computer.

Then, how your system starts without without bootflag "busratio=20'...when you have time, let us know. I think the lan is RealTek 8111C, the sound is ATL889a for EVGA X58. The temp is really good. I have a stock cooler, my idle temp is 47-51, that I think really high. I'm waiting my Xigmatek cooler now. Thanks
