I have been having the same issue as Kellykelly and I'm using a nearly identical hardware configuration.

 

For me, using the new voodoo kernel, USB legacy mode off, and nforceLAN optimizations =0 I have had no trouble for the last 20 hours or so. I did notice on the beta voodoo kernel that it seems to not be just the mouse and keyboard that become unresponsive, but all USB devices. All stopped at the same time.

EDIT: Nevermind I got a crash, probably after 24 hours with [HPET ON] and [uSB Legacy OFF].

try booting with idlehalt=0 as a boot argument and see if that fixes your issue.

Idlehalt=1 i.e. state is true, will cause the CPU to halt when system is idle resulting in power saving and cooler CPU

 

Idlehalt=0 i.e. state is false, will cause the CPU to continue running even when the system is idle.

Assuming you have checked your BIOS settings against the BIOS template 680i entry in post #1 in this topic for any incorrect settings, and they match the template OSX86 Settings column entries, then it could be kernel choice related......I assume you have tried 9.2.0 ToH Sleep kernel, Stage XNU 9.4.0, and Voodoo 9.5.0 RC1 (or previous Voodoo 9.5.0 Beta 2c)....or ACPI - APIC version related.....or be BIOS related as indicated here.......latter would be surprising as many EVGA nForce chipset + Intel CPU MOBO systems are running OS X successfully.....

 

In any event, my personal experience with my 650i MOBO from my blog is "Also, I have found that using Kernel 9.2.0 ToH instead of Kernel 9.2.0 nForce Core EFI also results in a fully working system so far as I can discern to date...."

 

Nevertheless, I am sorry that your system will not boot anymore.......if you had installed Kalyway 10.5.2 originally (as assumed in example below), you would do as follows to get your system to boot with a working kernel......

 

Boot from a working OS X Install DVD and go to Terminal in Disk Utility.

 

In Terminal type what is in quotes (minus quotes) and press Enter after each line

 

"cd /Volumes/Name of HDD OS X volume/"

"ls"

ls will list the files in the root directory including kernel file(s) e.g. mach_kernel, nforcekernel, kabylkernel, modbinkernel, sleepkernel, etc.

 

"mv mach_kernel mach_kernel_dud"

mv renames mach_kernel to mach_kernel.dud

 

"mv nforcekernel mach_kernel"

mv renames nforcekernel to mach_kernel

 

"rm mach_kernel_dud"

 

rm removes mach_kernel.dud

"exit"

exit closes the Terminal session

 

Exit Disk Utility, Click Restart button in DVD Installer menu........the system should boot from the HDD successfully by loading nforcekernel (now named mach_kernel).....

 

If, when you installed ToH Sleep kernel, your working kernel was not removed but rather renamed, then the above procedure will allow you to rename your previous kernel as mach_kernel......

I download the lastest eno driver and my system seems to run fine without the mouse problem. I didn't disable HPET though.

 

Will keep testing and post result.

I had the same issue. Except when I tried to kextunload the driver it gave me a kernel panic. So I ended up taking my macbook air's usb ethernet dongle and completely turning off the ethernet driver and I've been runing stable for 3 days.

 

Just get a new ethernet card, or one of those dongles.

This may seem like a super noob questions but....

 

I've been able to boot and install iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 many times.

I always get errors relating to nforceata (don't have exact errors tho they vary)

 

Now the noob part.... should I have patched my DVD with new nforceata ktexts?

 

Really noob part.... from my understanding after an install... if I can't get the initial boot i have three options

 

1. Install all over again

2. Use install DVD to replace needed ktexts

3. Use win/MacDrive to replace needed ktexts

 

meaning that once I've installed the first time.. I just need to play with all my ktext until my hardware works with the kernel?

 

I've tried iDeneb with stageXNU and older kernels

also with new and old nforceata's

 

Back to the question... that's the general procedure correct?
