hi verdant it`s me again, bothering you again  i read el the post of the forum that you suggested me but no one listens to me, in fact nobody answers any question of the people with problems, it`s like it passsed some time and no one worries about what happens to others...........anyway i`m going crazy with all this stuff and i come to you again to ask for some help beacuse your help was greatufull every time and i apreciate so much :D

well i tell you what i post in the other forum..if you or anybody can help me i would be the happiest person :P or evene pay for someone to help meeeeeeeeee.

Hi mate.

Well, I know it´s very disapointing not to achieve what you want and you may feel that way when you can´t get to install the sound of your mobo. I was checking your specs here and the message you post above and I decided to take a look at your mobo specs right from ECS site. I downloaded the manual of your mobo and checking the specs of your onboard sound, didn´t find anything that could make you thing you should use ALC888 kexts to install your sound on OS X.

Take a look on the specs of your onboard sound from the manual.

AUDIO

The onboard audio provides you the following features:

- 8 channel High Definition Audio Codec

- DACs support 96K/48K/44.1KHz sample rate

- Power Support: Digital:3.3V Analog: 5.0V

- WOW and TruSound from SRS

- Provides single ended CD input with DRM solutions and legacy OS issues.

I looked your mobo´s manual and no where it says you should use ALC888 to install your sound.

I believe you should check for another way to install your sound on OS X.

Hope to help.

@ disorden

As I said in my post and it has been confirmed by breakingbad, your audio chipset/codec is not ALC888 but Sigmatel as you have indicated in your own posts.......have you tried the procedure in this post yet.......using the AppleHDA.kext?

the only thing is that as you now i am a newbie so..........i don`t have any idea about what driver i have to download..but i thank you a lot because you took your time to download my mobo manual :P

about what verdant said............i did the whole thing in this post, i but like always nothing happened so that`s the reason i am a little bit lost...

Can you boot into windows on your PC and get the vendor/device IDs for me for your audio controller.....?

Also check this thread........try AppleHDAPatcher Ver 1.16.....

here are the screenshots..

Acording to this information your audio codec is IDT HDA codec......so you need to check out this IDT thread..........

vendor ID is 8384 and the device ID is 7645

You may need to get a Linux e.g. Ubuntu codec dump......if the IDT thread does not help you......

Boot your PC using a Ubuntu Live CD 8.10.....when you are in the Ubuntu Desktop, plug in a USB memory stick and create a new folder on it called Audio_Codec_Dump

go to Accessories > Terminal, and at the $ prompt type

cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 > '/media/Name of your USB Stick/Audio_Codec_Dump'/AudioCodec.text

I keep getting the "still waiting for root device" error. I've been reading around and i'm not sure what is causing this. The only thing that i thought could make sense it the fact that i have a SATA harddrive on a nForce 650i chipset. What is the easiest, free work around?

Also from what it looks like, i could buy a IDE harddrive and install OSx86 on there right? But could i still dual boot from my SATA hardrive to get into vista? If i did this, could i have access to a FAT32 partition on the SATA hd where i want to store my music?

Does any one have luck getting this to work? I'm looking at pointers as to what kernet, kexts and patches needed. I have leo4all 10.5.2 plain vanilla+efiv9, i would like to have a common ground as to not waste time on debugging the wrong things. currently I have installed with problems with ahci, unless i boot with cpus=1 then that has iopciresource missing stuff. either way I can't boot to prompt with -s. Board is zotac nf630i-d-e with e7200 and 1gb ram. bios settings as pointed at the beginning.

Is this when trying to boot from the OS X Install DVD or from an installed OS X system on your HDD?

What OS X distros do you have access to?

Since you have an nForce chipset MOBO you cannot use a vanilla kernel. Please give more details on your system......HDD(s) and DVDRW(s) are they SATA or PATA (IDE)? .......your graphics card and video RAM......I will then be in a better position to help you......

When booting on the zotac nf630i. I only have leo4all 10.5.2 right now. Is there a recomended release I can scour for? 120G ide as PATA master (no DVDRW: disconnected off sata). On board graphics and fixed at 256M (bios). I also have a 80G sata if that is easier to work on. I have another system to mount this drive to load kexts, kernels if need be.. Thanks for the help!

OK..... a number of points:

1) If your graphics chipset is 7100 or 7150 then there is no OS X driver for it BUT you can run in VESA 3.0 mode......will explain later....

2) Can you post screenshots of the Customize options for me look at?

Sorry about being unclear, it's when trying to boot from install disk. So far i've tried alot of the different distros.

I've ran them all under the -v and these are the ones i've tried: iDeneb v1.4, iPC 10.5.6, and iATKOS 5i.

EDIT:Also, i saw somethings that indicated the boot harddrive needed to be empty so i formatted it to unallocated space with GParted. So it's completely empty and still does this.

Also i'm downloading Kalyway cause i heard that it's more compatible with nForce.

Well, i got it to recognize a 12 or so year old 20gb pata harddrive. It installed on that drive, i think i had to leave, when i left it was at 35%, once i came home it was in an infinate loop of restarting. I did the -v command and it didn't stop and restart at a weird spot, it didn't have any errors, it just looked like it was working working working, fail. The question is how do i get it to see my sata drive?

Anyone think this way will be easiest?

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...ATA_hard_drives

Those all look like things i can do, and the simplest thing for me to do under the circumstances, the example has 3 real partitions like i would want, and i've used virtual machine before(not for osx86).

1. You check your BIOS settings against 650i recommended settings in post #1 of this thread.

2. You check your IDE cable connections and device jumper settings (setting as Master or Slave rather than Cable Select....) for any IDE devices used.....IDE DVDRW or DVDROM should be set as Master and IDE HDD as Slave, unless your MOBO has 2 IDE channels, in which case set HDD on one as Master and DVD drive on other as Master.

3. Follow my blog install guides if you have any of the OS X Install distros I have written guides for, initially installing without any video, audio and network options selected in the OS X Installer Cutomize menu.....

Cool stuff, I decided to ditch the old PATA HD, i set the PATA DVD drive to Master, it went past the waiting for root device. I tried the nforce thing, it didn't work but just booting like normal did. We'll see how everything else goes.

Thanks guys.

no go with the options you listed. I get a restart once it switches from the scrolling verbose to the fine text. what i did is i installed the voodoo kernel and that went error free until it loads the gui. i don't have the camera to get the snapshot right now. and my thinkpad t61 went kaput with error 0192 after installing the voodoo. is this the point i need video drivers?

You should be able to run without any video drivers.......please get a snapshot of what happens on the boot screen.....also try without any APIC selections.....i.e. ACPIPlatform selections......

So i installed a few kernels and when i boot it just restarts, when i boot to nforcekernel it just pretty much immediatly reboots, when i do sleepkernel, it works then looks and sounds like it works but the screen is black(videodriver?). The sleep kernel just sits and sits, i hear the hdd working but nothing happening on screen. The vanilla kernel causes a crash.

I just searched then intel website to see what processor i have and i'm fairly certain i have the p4 640 with N0 stepping. i don't remember if i have the N0 or R0, i remember it is the 640 and i think its N0. So there's more specs if that helps.

Try the following since the 9.2.0 kernel may well be working OK.....

After rebooting by typing -s at the boot: prompt and waiting for the prompt

:/ root# to appear, type each of the following lines, followed by Enter and then waiting for :/ root# to re-appear:

mount -uw /

rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce.kext

rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/Ge*.kext

rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/NV*.kext

followed finally by exit.

"logout" will then appear on screen followed by "Jettisoning kernel linker" and the rest of the verbose booting screen, hopefully resulting in a visible and successful booting into the OS X Welcome screen......

sorry for not writing so long...

i am not running the two 8800GTs. I am not sure what the problem was, but maybe my harddrive was not "Master Boot Record". now i will try to dualboot vista (installed on two 500GB SATA drives with RAID0) and my OSX (installed on one 250 GB SATA). but sure thats not the right place to discuss this! ;-)

edit: managed it by using easydcb 1.7.2 like you said ...weeks ago ;-) but is there anyway to read/write the raid0 drive from osx?! i dont think so.
