I only have two IDE devices, so this is not a problem.

I have already tried swapping Master/Slave between the DVD and hard drive. It has no effect on the "still waiting for root device" message. It is a brand new, known to be working, 80 wire cable.

That is not the case.

It has one, two-device IDE channel and one IDE connector.

As to BIOS settings, they are all set as necessary and appropriate based on all previous suggestions in the thread. If there is a specific setting you'd like me to check, I'd be happy to do so, but posting a series of screenshots would not be a productive use of time. As I said, all onboard devices are disabled except the GPU. IDE Block Mode is enabled (but has already been tried disabled), as is DMA transfer (also attempted disabled). Prefetch mode is disabled (also tried enabled). HPET is enabled (and has been tried disabled). Installs have been attempted with APIC and ACPI disabled--APIC disabled won't boot at all, ACPI being disabled has no effect on the message.

At least two other members of this forum claim to have installed successfully on this board. As I said, I have thoroughly exhausted all published options over the past several days. Ubuntu continues to work without a hitch on this system, but all of my other computers are Macs except for a MythTV HTPC. I am not new to PC building, Mac OS X, or Linux/BSD, so you are welcome to be more concise in your replies if it will save you time.

I asked about the BIOS screen shots because there seems to be a much greater variation among the 630i chipset MOBO BIOS parameters and options than with other nForce chipset BIOSs........I just want to avoid encountering a situation of OSx86DeFacto not working only to find out subsequently that it was due to incorrect BIOS settings and incorrect IDE device jumpering/cable connects.....with OSx86DeFacto not being needed......I will PM you...... :(

Ye, if AHCI is a BIOS option for SATA Mode then it has to be set usually in order for OS X to run.......

Hey, bad news, i downloaded de Intel Matrix Storage Manager and when i try to continue with the steps to enable de ahci driver it just says......."This computer does not meet the minimun requirements for installing the software. Setup will exit" ;)

this is really frustrating, i `ve been trying different things since 2007 and never manage to install the {censored} mac osx, is there another option to enable de ahci mode :D ?

Thanks for your help! With your PM I was able to get installed (iDeneb 10.5.5) to SATA hard drive, and the system boots, but only in safe mode (-x) or single user mode (-s). Trying to boot normally just causes the system to reboot before I can even read the kernel panic. Obviously that means there is some kext going wrong.

I've removed the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement, AppleEFIRuntime, and AppleHWSensor kexts, but this didn't help.

I installed the nForceATA chipset kext the first time, and the nforceATAtest kext the second time with the same results (XNU step kernel). I'm not sure how to proceed. I do know that in safe mode, it doesn't detect an ATA controller, so I think the nForce kext might need something edited? At least we're getting closer...

Glad that OSx86DeFacto enabled you to install iDeneb 10.5.5 onto your SATA HDD on your Zotac NF-630I-D-E 630i nForce chipset MOBO...... Please PM me the details requested in my PM on your use of OSx86DeFacto.... :)

When installing did you do a basic install, that is not selecting any video, audio and network drivers?.......doing so will enable you to first check that you have the basic OS X system installed and running OK.......as the appropriate video, audio and network drivers can be installed afterwards......you should be OK with 9.4.0 StageXNU to begin with......

In safe mode, download OSx86Tools and run View PCI Device / Vendor ID and post the results here...

Hey,

im still having problems with that crossed circle after installation when I boot from the hard drive.

Any fixes?

I need some more information.......post a screenshot of the boot screen when booting from the HDD with "-v cpus=1 maxmem=2048".......maxmem=2048 will not be needed if you have ≤ 2GB RAM installed on your MOBO.......

The problem seems to be with the AppleAHCIPort.kext......

AFIK the mach_kernel should not be trying to load the AppleAHCIPort.kext but rather the AppleNForceATA.kext since you have an nForce chipset MOBO......

What distro installed OS X system are you currently trying to boot from on your HDD?.......what kernel did you choose in the Customize menu......, and what chipset did you choose in the Customize menu......you need only choose nForceATA.....

friends, have a p6ngm with chipset MCP73v

I'm trying to install on my system to OSX, but I collided with some problems.

hope you can help me.

1st I got through the kalyway install, but now always give faled error of calibration (see photo http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5353/22022009108.jpg) and now can not even install again, what can I do?

2 with iDeneb and iakto and CPI, have similar errors, it hangs from nothing, and when any key is tightening "starting darwin" and restart the computer (see photo http://img9.imageshack.us/my.php?image = 28022009118.jpg)

I'm trying to solve the problem, but was hampered by several difficulties. someone help me?

first of all sory for the censored word i said but i was angry :( , well i have some news, obviously i couldn`t install the intel matrix...... because I my chipset isn`t intel, my chipset is nVidia 630i Geforce 7100 so well I tried to look in every post if somehow I could boot xp in ahci and not in sata mode as well but I failed.

Today I change sata mode to ahci and tryied to boot from macosx ideneb dvd....thank god I succed installing macOsx in the partition i had for it but when the installation finished i wait until the computers restarts and nothing happens... :P

I wait anxiously for the welcome and keyboard configuration screen but no............it just loads the installation again, so I don`t know what to do really and apart from that windows doesn`t boot ¬¬ so I have to enter the BIOS, change from ahci to sata and restart de computer in order to run windows again....please helppp :(

this is the screen when i tryied to install in verbose mode in sata mode...

Sorry for steering you down the Intel Storage Manager path........it was because I was so focussed on setting AHCI mode under XP I forgot for the moment that you have a nForce MOBO...... :)

I will deal with your post in about 4 hours...... :D

1. Set your BIOS options according to i610 recommended settings in post #1 of this thread.....

2. AFIK nVidia GeForce 7050 uses shared memory.......AFIK currently still not supported by OS X......so cannot get full CI/QE........run in VESA mode with native display resolution set in com.apple.Boot.plist.....

3. The PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse may cause problems unless you install a PS/2 driver.......OS X is not designed for PS/2 and is much happier to see a USB keyboard and USB mouse.......do you have access to these or PS/2 to USB adapters?

4. When you boot from the OS X install DVD, boot with "-v cpus=1" excluding quotes......

Initially install OS X without any video, network and audio driver selections in the Customize menu.......they can be sorted out after you have the basic OS X system running......for IDT Audio see here....

chipset: 630i

cpu: single core pentium 4 3.06 ghz not oc

disc drives: one dvdrw and one cdrw both ide

hdd: 160gb on sata

partioning: drive has winxp pro on it

graphics: onboard geforce 7150

No additional cards, 2 gb ram, onboard everything.

1. IDE setup/connections.......

How many IDE channels does your MOBO support?

Are you using an 80 wire IDE cable(s) with a middle connector?

Have you got the IDE DVDRW jumpered as Master and the CDRW jumpered as Slave, or what?

2. BIOS settings.......

The recommended settings are:

HDD S.M.A.R.T. Capability [Disabled]

CPU Multi-Threading [Enabled]

Limit CPUID Max to 3 [Disabled]

No-Execute Memory Protect [Enabled]

CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) [Disabled]

CPU Thermal Monitor 2 (TM2) [Enabled]

CPU EIST Function [Disabled]

Virtualization Technology [Disabled]

Power Management Setup:

ACPI Suspend Type [s1&S3] or [s3(STR)]

ACPI APIC Support [Enabled]

HPET Support [Enabled]

BUT I need you to post here your BIOS parameter options and current settings for

OK assuming you have your OS X volume partitioned as Master Boot Record (MBR) and formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), boot the iPC Install DVD (PPF5, or Final v1.1) with -v cpus=1 and choose the following in Customize:

PC OSx86 10.5.6 Base System (installed by default with AppleDecrypt.kext and Disabler.kext)

Language Translations - User choice

iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Intel AMD SSE2 SSE3

Kernels - 9.5.0 Voodoo Kernel

Drivers - Video Drivers - Choose none, as OS X does not AFIK currently support shared RAM onboard GeForce 7150 to give CI/QE......

Drivers - Chipset Drivers - AppleNForceATATest nForce Drivers or AppleNForceATA (slashack's modded MeDevil nForceATA kext)

Drivers - Audio Drivers - Initially choose none

Drivers - Ethernet Drivers - Initially choose none

Drivers - USB Drivers - Patched USB Drivers

Fixes and Patches - Seatbelt.kext 10.5.5 (must be installed if Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel is installed)

Fixes and Patches - AppleSMBIOS Patch - AppleSMBIOS-27 Rev3 Mac Pro

Applications - User choice but do not select Marvin's AMD Utility

Sorry I am helping so many people at present I do not have time to go back to your original post.......so if you are using PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse (although USB keyboard and USB mouse is the best option), then you should try choosing:

ACPI Kext 10.5.6

PS2Fix Mouse

PS2Fix Keyboard

but if using USB keyboard and USB mouse then only choose ACPI Kext 10.5.6, and also in either case

ACPI_SMC_Fix

Seatbelt Fix

BUT if this does not help matters then neither the integrated ACPI-Fix nor the ACPI Kext 10.5.6 appear to be the correct ACPI fix......
