How does this Info.plist compare with your current Info.plist for AppleOnboardPCATA.kext? Note that my

So... any idea about why do I have this kext?

Should I include in my info.plist that device ID referring to MCP51 IDE device??

 

As you could see, my info.plist contains only one reference to a device. Do you believe that this could be the reason for some random freezes my system have some times?

As I said in an earlier post, as you are running 10.5.5, then just try renaming AppleOnBoardPCATA.kext as AppleOnBoardPCATA.kext.original using Terminal

 

cd /System/Library/Extensions
sudo mv AppleOnBoardPCATA.kext AppleOnBoardPCATA.kext.orig
exit

 

and then rebooting.....

 

Edit: No need to see your Info.plist if it fully matches the one I posted.......

Did the renaming and rebooted twice and here I am. :)

Now let´s see how the system will behave.

Is there anything I can do to check if everything´s OK by now?

Just continue running with <string>-v debug=0x144</string> in your com.apple.Boot.plist.... :blink:

Hopefully, everything should be OK?

not havin any luck here guys, tried it all so i think, went through the install guides and bios template and i get the same thing, if i try to install iatkos or ideneb i get a flash of the apple screen after darwin then reboot just loops, if i use kalway i get a stop were going backwards error, any ideas? thanks

It would help if you posted some boot screens obtained when booting from the install DVD with "-v -x cpus=1 maxmem=2048 platform=ACPI|86PC debug=0x100" minus quotes......

My problem is this: I cannot get the SATA channels to function in ACHI mode. On my motherboard, they are sent to "RAID" and cannot be changed. I can enable RAID individually on each channel, but the error I am getting is a 'still waiting for root device' error, which means it cannot find the SATA DVD drive, and you can't have a DVD drive in a RAID array, so turning it on doesn't help. How can I get the installer to see my disks if I cannot enable ACHI mode?

It's a Gateway computer with a somewhat custom OEM motherboard made by MSI. It has the nforce 630i/MCP73 chipset. Closley matches the P6NG line, but has no perfect match. CPUID lists the model as 'MS-7399'.

Previously I remember you having a Biostar MOBO? Anyhow, can you check here to see if your MOBO matches this MSI MOBO......and do you have this BIOS version currently installed or an earlier version........you may be able to upgrade the BIOS using an MSI BIOS......

If in your BIOS you do not have an explicit AHCI option, then in some BIOS setups, enabling SATA RAID mode enables ACHI mode as well (with RAID disabled on each channel), and in other setups enabling SATA Controller is all that is needed......

But the root device is the CD drive, not the drive to install to, right? How can you have a DVD drive in a RAID mode? I have tried changing that, and the DVD drive doesn't even show up in anything..

 

The drive I am trying to install ONTO I know the installer can see. I know this because I have booted the installer off of a USB drive and the IDE devices showed up, but the SATA ones didn't. I am aiming for an install that I can use the SATA hardware with.. Basically I am just wondering if there are any other ways to see SATA devices within the OSX installer or OSX itself..

Is your DVDRW a SATA or PATA DVDRW......? AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) is a interfacing mechanism that enables communication with SATA devices.......

It is SATA. I have tried a PATA install from a PATA DVD drive and from a USB drive and both have failed to see any SATA devices.

I agree, I need to change that BIOS setting. But it's not an option. I've looked into reflashing the bios with some kind of custom rom based off the update you linked me to, but I am not too sure I want to go down that path as it could destroy my motherboard. The method you used with your USBDeFacto thing, does that somehow override this BIOS setting? Would there be any chance that would work even though I cant change that setting in my BIOS? And yes, I can't see any SATA HDDs or volumes.

Your other option is to use a PATA HDD and PATA DVDRW in your system, with the PATA HDD for OS X......OSx86DeFacto is a USB bootloader and so it has no affect on BIOS settings.......

I´m passing by to say that my system still have random freezes even after renaming that kext and debug command line I added to my boot.plist is not working with this freezes. It simply freezes and no debug info is showing. I found a little strange, since the debug line works to get info on freezes and KP´s, right?

 

I don´t even know how to report this problem. Even posting images of the screen when it freezes won´t help because there´s no info about it. I´m going crazy. :(

Suggest you try installing Voodoo Release Version v1.0 Rev_A kernel and use c1ramp=0 in your com.apple.Bootl.plist file too........and see if it helps...... :)

I have a GA-73PVM-S2H with nforce 630i and Core 2 quad Q6600 and 9800 GTX.

I tried using IAtkos v5i and i was successfull in installing it and i have an upgradable System.

I have 1 Sata hdd on which i have XP and one Pata hdd on which i have leopard and i have 1 PATA DVD-RW.In leopard i cannot

see the Sata drive and the performance on Pata hdd is very slow in leoaprd becuse UDMA is disable i guess.

Everything is working in my leopard except the performance of my hdd So CAN ANY ONE HELP ME OUT.

I tried AppleNforceAta but i think it is not supported.

I got a SATA DVDRW but I'm only able to read DVD's...

I'm using the modified AppleNForceATA for 4GB...
