*Hopefully* coming soon : An all-in-one BootCD.ISO that merges the best community tools -

1. Build a bootable, totally unmodified retail vanilla Leopard installation using only the retail DVD or an image of it

2. Build and burn a custom, slipstreamed Leopard distribution designed exclusively for your own hardware from any existing distribution and/or required disablers and drivers

3. Repair existing broken OSx86 installations with cross-platform OSx86 lifeboat tools

4. Upgrade older installs with latest bootloaders, kernels, kext disablers and driver kexts/.pkgs ...

5. Multiboot GUI installer for various essential system/tweak/test/benchmarking/etc. tools

Codename: A.M.O.E.B.A. (Pick your own words for the acronym!)

The only disk you should ever need other than a retail Leopard DVD ...

PS - This is currently only really a pipe-dream but hopefully the various secret projects currently under way can be merged into the ultimate bootable utility cd ...

Finally, some links suggesting my dream is not really that far off -

4 & 5 should be coming up here pretty quick. Project Calypso is nearing completion and when it goes live it should be a fair might more complex than most people would have expected :D

Project Calypso? Sounds interesting ... are we allowed any hints as to what that might contain?

also, sorry to anyone who got the wrong idea that I am personally working on any major projects. At the moment I am still trying to get my head around merging the excellent old Kalyway bootcd with the Instahackintosh and Slimboot tools, along with the excellent multi-platform bootcd from the various links in my first post. I shouldn't have suggested that I have anything else up my sleeve, so apologies for any confusion. Feel free to move this to a rumours/ideas section if that helps ...

I'm now hoping for something similar to Galaxy's slimboot creator which also contains other tools required to build and maintain an OSx86 installation that is totally vanilla. Would be great to be able to take an empty/dead system and build/rebuild it from scratch with all required components. So, step by step -

1. Identify required software build components (maybe assisted using Linux hardware analysis tools)

2. Allow internet access to download any updated or missing kernels/kexts/patches/etc.

3. Use Galaxy's slimboot scripts to prepare and burn a new pre-retail ISO boot image (maybe to ramdisk or existing hidden partition?)

4. Apply repair and management tools to ISO boot image

5. Prepare partitions (maybe use EFI partition as holding area)

6. Install totally vanilla Leopard to GUID partition (add some post-install checking scripts)

7. Make Leopard bootable (Initially in safe mode to be sure)

8. Double check EFI partition is ready and reboot

9. Run post-install scripts to check if system booted ok

10. Offer to build system backup and/or custom install ISO with STLVNUB's InstaHackintosh v4 (when available)

The finished product should be able to prepare a bootable system which contains an EFI partition with the correct kernel and drivers on it (i.e. Munky's method).
