GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P

Has any one had any success running this board?? I did a search on forum and nothing came up...

Thanks,

Jack

This board looks similar with what am using (GA-EP45-DS3), except that mine don't have TPM chip. Setup should be a breeze, you should note that AHCI setup and Audio setup.

Anyway do check and update the WIKI HCL if you're buying this board.

hoyanf

update:

Just install it. only sound card does not work.

I have the board working 100%. To get audio working I used a patched AppleHDA.kext specificly 'alc885889_add2_AppleHDA'. You can find them here:

Either one work (I tried both), I believe they are the same but didn't look into it. You just need to install the kext (remove the old one, copy the new one, repair permissions, etc etc etc) and then use EFI strings. Try just the kext and if that doesn't work add in the strings using EFI Studio.

@iJoke: Shutdown works, but sometimes doesn't fully shutdown the computer. It unmounts the drives, unloads the OS and sits there waiting for you to click the power button to fully shutdown (so the fans are still going), but this doesn't happen all the time. It seems to be a common thing with GIGABYTE boards across the board from what I've seen. Its a non issue for me because I don't shutdown ever really.

ok ifigured out that the only way to get ethernet to work and to get my thumb drive to work was to connect them and then sleep the computer and when it stgarts up again they are connected but the status in network settings will always think i have ethernet plugged in until i sleep/turn off my comp again

is it normal to have the System Profiler read the bus speed only at 1.2GHz while the board specification says that it runs at 1.6GHz ?

I tried sysctl hw.busfrequency in terminal and it says 1.2GHz

Do I need to update my BIOS or just change a setting in my BIOS ?

The board specification is an up to 1600mhz bus processor eg. a 400mhz FSB one this does not mean it runs at that speed all the time. It can vary depending on whether you have overclocked or left the processor at its default speed.

Used boot-132 method and followed this tutorial but used grub-dfe.iso ( see here ).

Hey all,

First post. I just built my first Hackintosh using this board a few weeks ago (Newegg had some sick BF deals).

Anyway, I used the method that johndingle linked to and it worked freaking great. Patched the sound, that works just fine to, but it doesn't come up in system profiler? Strange but ok.

I just wanted to let you all know, eventhough most of you probably already do know this, that if you go here you can download some kext that will make your SATA drive look like a normal Machintosh HD icon. I used osx86tools to install and it looks nice.

Search has been broken for several months so you'll have to go page-by-page and scan the topics manually.

Also, this is not the right forum for asking questions about compatibility. You might try the "Buying Advice" forum.

Best way to search this site is by going to Google and typing (without the quotes) "site:forum.insanelymac.com" followed by a space and then whatever it is that you are looking for.

Use the Realtek ALC889A BETA V5 Kexts for audio - Shows up in system profiler for me. You need to include the Legacy AppleHDA kext as well because the HDAEnabler kext needs it. I had to install the kexts using chameleon so they go in the /Extra/Extensions folder.

<-- this is incorrect, I was thinking about another kext issue I encountered. Just installing with OSX86Tools should work fine.

I installed the 889a V5 using osX86Tool.

Now I have stuff showing up in System Profiler, but it does not list all ports like my real MBP.

Here is a pic of my HackPro's Audio Profiler:

When you installed using chameleon, did you install it right from the beginning? What am I doing wrong?

Mine looks just like your MBP.

Intel High Definition Audio:

Device ID: 0x1458A102

Audio ID: 889

Available Devices:

Speaker:

Connection: 1/8 inch Jack

Line Out:

Connection: 1/8 inch Jack

Headphone:

Connection: 1/8 inch Jack

Line In:

Connection: 1/8 inch Jack

Microphone:

Connection: 1/8 inch Jack

S/P-DIF Out:

Connection: Combo

Somehow yours didn't install properly. Make sure that AppleHDA.kext is in /System/Library/Extensions . Mine is version 1.6.2a37.

One thing you can try is reboot and hit a key during the countdown and type in "-f" to rebuild extensions during the startup process. This has fixed some of my issues.

Thanks johndingle.

I had the correct AppleHD.kext, but upon further investigation I had an ACLinject.kext from a previous attempt at patching the sound that seemed to causing the problem this time.

Eventhough I have it working and running smoothly, do you or does anyone else know how to make it wake on mouse or keyboard?
