Dear guys,

 

i finally got my GF 9600m GT working !

 

It's really easy, if you know what do to...

 

System: based on Kalyway 10.5.2 -> updated to 10.5.6

 

All you need is:

 

Nvidia 9000 Series Driver v2

NvDarwin 1.25

 

 

First you have to install the Nvidia drivers, then reboot.

You will see no effect, but there is now something needed installed.

 

Now you install NvDarwin 1.25 (or newer if available, should work also i think),

open osx86-tools and repair permissions, clear extensions and fix extensions permissions (the first 3 actions).

 

Cross fingers and reboot.

 

This worked for me !

 

After reboot you can enable QuartGL Extreme with OSX86-tools if you want.

 

My 9600m GT is fully supported and working with all QE/GL !

 

Just runs fine on my Laptop now.

I've got DV5 as well with GF 9600M GT. Installation was very neat, Leopard 10.5.6 iDeneb distribution with NVdarwin 1.2.5 runs smoothly (including QE/GL, webcam and everything except for Wi-Fi) out of the box

 

The only problem is external display on VGA - when I connect it and run "detect displays" my laptop's screen turns black while the external LCD doesn't even turn on - i can't see anything so i need to force reboot. DV5 BIOS is dumbed down to extreme so there is nothing to change there regarding video/displays, booting in with external display connected results in laptop's screen working fine until OS starts (just after white apple screen) when it turns black and i need to reboot. VGA port is fine (working under Vista) Any idea to resolve it is much much appreciated :D

I got my zotac 9600gt working, took a couple of trys

id 0622

 

installed ideneb 10.5.5 - note i installed my 8500gt with 512mb of ram(actually has 256) nvinject

then the 10.5.7 update ideneb styled 1

then the patcher for the anv kernel with strings for nvidia IDs

 

swapped graphics cards and it worked

WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT installing nvinject!!! atleast it didnt for me

i didnt get it working untill i installed with my 8500gt first then swapped the cards over

LOL! I got my NVidia 9600M GT 512MB Card on my HP DV5-1134TX to work in 3 seconds.

 

Okay, you need OSX86Tools.

 

Run it in Mac OSX.

 

On the top left hand corner, you should see a "Graphics and Customization" box. Click "Enable/Disable Quartz GL" and enable Quartz GL. It should be defaulted to 'disabled'.

 

After a restart, open OSX86Tools again. Go down to the bottom and look for a button called "Add EFI strings/Boot Flag"

 

A new window should pop up. At the top click "GFX Strings". Where it says "choose graphics card" click on it, and scroll down to "Custom GeForce". Follow the prompts. When it reaches the "Choose your display configuration window (NVCap)", select DVI-I/VGA. The smaller window should close. Next, Click the Green arrow with the label "Import strings to Boot Editor".

 

You now should be back to the main window. There should be a large box down the bottom filled with numbers. To the bottom of that, theres a button "Apply changes to com.apple.Boot.plist" Click that, and restart... It SHOULD work.

 

Requirements: EFI enabled bootloader like Chameleon. I installed iPC OSX 10.5.6 which auto installed Chameleon.

 

I also installed the 9xxx series drivers available on this forum, but i dont know if that played a role in making it work.

I have a 16" screen and the usual result: black screen :(

My idea is that this is a problem of the EDID. The EDID data cannot be read out. So I try to use the windows EDID data and put it in the /System/Library/displays/overrides/. But I dont know how.

Just boot to single user mode (-s) and then remove all the extensions related to nVidia,

then reboot. You will get the internal LCD working too. If you want the full capability, go here.

I've tried that already, didn't work. Just stayed at 1024x768. I've read this thread along with every other thing I could find regarding the 9600M GT. Unfortunately, I cannot get anything to work. :wacko:

Okay... download the NVDarwin in my signature.

 

start in '-s' mode

 

when it stops loading, type in /sbin/mount -uw /

all spaces included.

 

next, type in cd System/Library/Extensions

next: rm -r NV*.*

next: rm -r Ge*.*

next: rm -r ../Extensions.mkext

next: reboot

 

root: /sbin/mount -uw /
root: cd System/Library/Extensions
root: rm -r NV*.*
root: rm -r Ge*.*
root: rm-r ../Extensions.mkext
root: reboot

 

It should have now booted up in the crappy reso mode.

install leopard official nvidia drivers:

Ill upload them soon

If you dont want to wait, and u dont have much on your OSX install, i suggest u download iPC 10.5.6 or higher and reinstall. Click the "customize install" button and choose "Official MacBook Pro Nvidia drivers"

 

Next download the 9600MGT kext in my sig

Install leopard drivers first

then use OSX86 tools or similar to install the 9600MGT kext and reboot

congrats u now have QE/CI

 

For those wondering how i made the KEXT, i kinda forgot, but heres the gist:

your card string is your Device ID + Vendor. so basically

Device ID: 0x0649

Vendor: Nvidia (0x10de)

your card string is:

0x10de0649 or 0x064910de. one of those two, forget which.

 

you basically download a generic NVDarwin.kext and slip the card string in

and also, the memory things that were created when u tried to create EFI GFX strings for it.

 

If your already lost, dont bother, its already been done. All you need to do is download and install.
