Hi there,

sorry for my noob question! i search around this forum to find a guide what i should doing to create the Boot 132 CD but i don´t want to be an specialist for programming. I´m using Kalyway at the moment with success install but the problems you all know ist to update Leopard without system crash.

I´ve downloaded the file Boot 132 CD Creator but i need the steps to create the bootdisk.

Can anyone help me with a guide or link? Many thanx!

That is determined by your hardware. Items like whether you have AMD or Intel CPU and what specific model it is. What graphice card you use etc..

 

And, since we have no idea about your system configuration, there is no way to help.

What, exactly, don't you understand? I assume you have read the first post in this thread. If you did, where is it you are having a problem. There is no programming involved. Just add your required kext, run the script and burn the iso to a CD.

 

Without more information about your problem it is hard to help.

 

By the way, don't worry about your English skills. My German skills are nonexistent. ;)

i think i must use "my" kexts from Kalyway, iDeneb, JaS or what ever what i´m use in the moment - right?

So i copy the needed kexts in the boot 132 folders - is that correct?

What must i do with the .sh file? Copy and paste it to terminal? How did this start? (in terminal automatic when i put the .sh file?)

My problem is to understand all this when i read this in english!

You don't need all the kext from your current installation. You just need to place the special, or modified ones from your current installation into the slimbuild Extensions folder. For example, the ones I use on my Pentium 4 based system are the following:

 AppleACPIPlatform.kext
AppleDecrypt.kext
ApplePS2Controller.kext
AppleSMBIOS.kext
Disabler.kext
IOATAFamily.kext

 

As you can see, some are modified or older versions of kext supplied by Apple. Others are special supplied by others.

 

If your system can run the vanilla kernel then you can leave the slimbuild Kernel folder empty. If you need a patched kernel, as I do, then place a file named mach_kernel.whatever.. in the kernel folder.

 

When you downloaded the slimbuild package you had to unzip it someplace. Open a kernel session and, as it told you in the first post, type cd (change directory) followed by a space. Then you can drag&drop the slimbuild directory on the terminal window -> press enter. Or, just type cd and-the-slimbuild-folder-name -> press enter.

 

now that you are in the slimbuild folder - verify that by typing "pwd" - you can just enter

 sudo  ./slimbuild2.sh  -> Enter  
type your password  -> Enter

 

Then, if you didn't get any errors, use disk utility to burn the iso file to a CD

Hey guys,

 

In terms of the GUI ~Galaxy seems to have discovered what may be a "bug" but there is a chance that it could have been user error, so I've sent him a solution to see if it works :) If he gets back to me and says that everything is ok I can release it, but if there is something wrong then I may need a small amount of time to fix it.

That was quit simply as i think!

At the moment i have the iso and i will test it tomorow...i´m tired!

Well, since I don't have iron anywhere near that new, I can't say for sure what all you will need.

 

It appears you can run the vanilla kernel so the slimbuild Kernel folder would be empty. At a minimum, I would think you will need one of the AppleDecrypt.kext and Disabler.kext. There are different versions decrypt and disabler kext available. They all do about the same thing. Pick one of each.

 

You will need to do a bit of experimentation, as we all have done, to get the rest of what you need. You may need an older AppleACPIPlatform.kext and ApplePS2Controller.kext if your keyboard and mouse don't work when you boot the slimbuild CD. The only way to know is to build the CD and try it. I would suggest using CD-RW media so you don't make too many coasters while you fine tune your version.

 

That's about all the help anyone can be unless you locate someone with the same system configuration who can send you a copy of their CD.

i put the leo install disc in the dvd drive and hit the hex code for the boot hd (in my case 80).

for a moment the retail disc start but chrash with panic (my display shows "you must restart the computer" or so)

What do i´m wrong? Must the Hardrive formated with guid before? or what ever? (i´m using MBR with Kalyway)

You are a attempting to load the install DVD. It is not located at hex 80. That is your hard drive, not the dvd drive. Next time you try, just press enter at that point and take the default - most likely [F9].

Well, yes, if you actually get to the retail dvd you will see a second count down. You will then press F8 again. At that point, you should see a boot prompt that identifies the OS X Install dvd. That is where you will enter

rd(0,1)/mach_kernel.xxx  -v  rd=diskXsY

to tell the boot loader which kernel to load and which partition to boot. I think the diskXsY X&Y numbers will be related to the numbers found in the boot prompt. However the safesc - most accurate method is to substitute boot-uuid=the-uuid-for-your-install-dvd. You can get the uuid for your dvd from disk utility "Info" function - icon in the upper left of the panel.

Please see my reply to TimeActor. You should *always* use the -v kernel flag when experimenting with something new. Nearly all problems result in the gray Apple and the ones that cause a kernel panic show the "you must reboot" message.

 

No one can help you without more information than that. You get more data by using the -v kernel flag and then reading and reporting about the messages you see prior to the panic. You should also report the sequence of actions/entries you used to boot to that point.

Well, first, the uuid is used to replace the diskXsY - like this:

rd(0,1)/mach_kernel.xxx  -v  boot-uuid=the-very-long-uuid-number

 

The reason it is better to use the boot-uuid is that it will never change whereas the diskXsY can and will change depending on timing etc.. when the system boots.

 

I am not sure about the HPET problem just now. I have seen, and experienced, it in the past. I just don't remember how to solve.

 

There is something you can do to make things easier when you boot the slimbuild CD. If your primary goal is to boot the retail install dvd, then you might consider using a com.apple.Boot.plist. It is placed in the PLIST folder in the slimbuild folder. The advantage of doing this is that you don't need to type anything at the dvd boot prompt. Just press Enter.

 

The com.apple.Boot.plist from my slimbuild boot-132 CD looks like this:

~Galaxy hasn't gotten back to me yet about the full test results of SlimbuildGUI, I'm sure he will sometime soon. For you skeptical folks here's a little screenie:

No, the GUI is not your beautiful flashy interface with nice animations and stuff like that, its a solid interface that gets the job done effectively, and it does it fast :wacko:

Hehe, that I am :P I'm absolutely itching to release this one, but I don't like to put things out before they are ready. Better to wait rather than rush and be sorry ;) Anytime soon though, as soon as ~Galaxy gives me the green light I will put it up for download immediately. Kinda feel bad cause I promised this one months ago and never got around to doing it till now, but I had my hands full (and still do) with a bunch of other projects, INSTAHackintosh, iPC, my site, and some other little surprises I have planned *wink wink* :)
