aztec_knight
So I am assuming that it worked for you?~Stephen yes it did, thank you again and I'm testing the RGB, watching a movie on my HDTV with it works fine, (res. 1360 x 768) and also testing FCP it all seems to work pretty well. agent477
.... And you need to make sure your Boot.plist is changed to cpus=2, and if you use your activity viewer in Utilities, show the floating window and you should see 2.~Stephen You didn't do this on the Acer Aspire One right? I just wanted to make sure cause I thought it only had 1 processor.
agent477
Also, has anyone tried modifying the mac apps SideTrack or iScroll to get us some finger scrolling going? I'm trying to mess with it but I really dont have any idea what i'm doing. I hope someone can figure it out soon
marcusroberto
I've been watching this discussion and taking courage and looking for a external DVD drive to install Mac OS X in my AAO. I have three little question that I hope you guys could help me: 1 – Is there any project of releasing an Mac OSX86 ISO especially ready to burn and install in AAO? 2 – Does anyone know if that open-source drivers from Atheros can help to get the original WiFi card works on Leopard? 3 – I just discovered yesterday that the trackpad is multitouch! The pinch works on the Windows XP to zoom in and out. Can I hope that we could use it the same way the new Macbooks do, with multitouch to diferent actions? Thanks and I'll keep watching these great discussion.
agent477
Also, what have you guys done to get the ethernet jack to work properly? I tried a few packages (one from the official site) with no luck. Unless my wire's plugged in before I boot leopard, no dice Thanks for all the help guys, JJ

Expand 'Networks_Drivers'. and select ONLY 'RTL1000'. during installation. but if you want to save yourself the time to reinstall everything, use Kext helper B7 to install the RealtekR1000.kext repair disk permisions and restart. cheers

The AAO has only a 1 core CPU, but with the Voodoo Kernel, it enables Hyperthreading. When an operating system uses hyperthreading it see the 1 Core CPU as 2. That is why you need to list it as 2. ~Stephen

The only way my ethernet jack is usable is when I have it plugged in before I boot leopard. I say usable because it doesn't really detect when it's unplugged/plugged in, it only gives the status of wether the connection is either self-assigned or given You guys have any other ideas? SticMAC™
It will not show up in Finder!! (NONE of the contents of ANY kexts will show up in finder!) In the System/Library/Extensions folder is a file called: IONetworkingFamily.kext, if you right click on it and choose "Show Package Contents you will find the Contents folder then click on it and you will find Plugins, there you will see AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext. Delete it, clear your trash, remove System/Library/Extensions.mkext to clear your caches then reboot SticMAC Where would that be? ilzzy
I am trying to install the xxx 10.5.5 and I cant seem to get the "customize" config right, could you please outline exactly what drivers we need to select for XXX 10.5.5 on Aspire One? At the moment i just get stuck in a repeating restart loop with the aspire screen and the grey apple boot screen. Thanks for all the hard work, after being a avid user mac since my first computer, its great to finally be able to break away from the expensive hardware. aztec_knight
Booted into safe mode, restarted booted normal, no more issues. Still ethernet refuses to work properly which sucks. Am I the only person having the issue of the ethernet port only being detected on start-up? ok let me get this straight.... your ethernet is not usable when you unplug/plug it... so i'm assuming that even if the ethernet is not connected you can still boot into the OS? now if that is the case try opening System Preferences then Network and once you're in there click on Assist Me, choose Assistant it will tell you to create another network name then when it tells you that your ISP might let you connect automatically then you close the assistant and your ethernet should be good to go. you will end up with many different connections but you can delete them as well hope this helps you... btw just advice for anyone who reads this post.... if you can't get anything to work, mess it up and try to fix it... summed up in 2 words: BE CURIOUS!!!!! AND KEEP IT SIMPLE
MrENGLISH
Hello Everyone! Just wanted to say Thank You to everyone who contributed to this thread! I had some hiccups trying to install using iDeneb 1.3 10.5.5 (got stuck on the endless loop) and also had issues patching XxX 10.5.5. So I decided to just go back to OPs original guide and successfully installed OS X on my Acer. Still within the first 24 hours since install was completed but so far it's been pretty solid. I recently ordered a Dell 1390 WiFi card and can't wait to get WiFi running. Thanks again to everyone for this wonder thread!!! On a side note, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a patched XxX 10.5.5 that I can download. I don't know what I did wrong but failed to twice trying to do the patches. It would be nice to have a copy of this version for a future install on another Acer - my family loves 'em! NM, Finally patched it right!

Just found this: !!!News!!! http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=138351 Looks like there's hope for Wireless..I won't try this, since you get crashes/Kernel Panics...but someone with a AAO said he has the yellow light for W-Fi on, but no Connection... Rivest
Guys this is just a big thanks to all of you What an amazing support team we have here! With your help I got everything running great ! No problem at all A little recommandation, may be you should include in your tutorial ''how to dual boot with XP using Chain0'' as it's really easy and would have saved me hours of searching on the net . Thanks again, hoping to get wifi working without changing the card soon EDIT: Wow after 2 hours of searching, downloading, changing fixing etc... I cannot get my wifi to work. I get the airport sign without grey bars in it. This said, I cannot activate airport, when I click activate airport it does nothing. Any advice? MrENGLISH
Does anyone know how to install (and run) Parallels 4 on Aspire One running OS X (installed with this topic help)? Paralles 4 wont install BUT I was able to install Paralles 3 (build 5626) and installed Windows XP via the Acer Aspire Recovery Disc. I prefer just booting directly into Windows XP but it's nice to have this as an option while running OS X.
