Instead of Downloading a Full Linux system, I recommend to use GParted. It's a live CD/USB-Stick, based on Linux. It's avaiable for USB and ISO. Located here.

 

At the specialised iso only for the Aspire One...sorry, There are some problems..you can only boot with -x, and many Kexts doesn't work...will wait for new kernel and App, then try it again... :(

Quick question to throw out there...

 

I will use my little hackintosh for a set amount of time than I go to shutdown and will get a kernel panic saying you need to hold down the power button or restart. What is weirder is that I can restart just fine if I choose that option instead, but not on shutdown. Anyone else having this issue?

Have not tried the VooDoo Beta 2, but I know earlier in the thread someone said it does not sleep. Have not tried Deep Sleep and call it stupidity I guess, but there is a Deep Sleep? well its good to learn one new thing everyday. Thanks for the links on the deep sleep, and as for the USB Wifi you should be able to do that without a problem, but I would say for the price, the internal solution is not bad. And its funny, the Dell1390 card is not actually by Dell so I didn't have a problem with buying it. Its some OEM maker from China that labels it for them and works flawlessly. I also only paid $15 on eBay for the thing so I would say between the two and the straight Airport compatibility, do the internal swap, its really easy.

Drizzel - I'm fairly sure the Dell 1390 uses a broadcom chipset

 

The Dell 1390 card does for certain use a broadcom chip and it works perfectly with OS X as it is 100% compatible with airport.

And yes its a problem with shutdown.

 

Its very weird I can restart the computer just fine, but when I go to Shutdown it will kernel panic on me for some reason. I think I might know what it is, from process of trial and elimination, so I am going to try one more full re-install and go from there. Will keep you posted.

I can confirm that the Card Reader uses the JMB385 Chip. If this is any help to anyone.

 

@SBMac = I am also having the same issues with Shutdown (Restart is Fine - No Kernel Panic) - If you have worked out what the problem is please let me know

Just to clarify the Dell 1390 Card uses the Broadcom BCM4311 Chip and the latest Apple Airport Extreme Cards use the Broadcom BCM4312 Chip

Here is an interesting question for you all...

 

I have now had this happen twice, and I cant figure it out. I go through the updates from the guide and I get to one point where it seems that the darwin kernel read 9.2.0 and the System.kext reads 9.5.0. I am wondering if any of the recent Apple Updates through software update are the cause? As my USB does not work and I cannot get my Wifi up at all....

I'm very interested in picking up an Acer One to save carrying my old heavy laptop, i'm also very interested in running os x on it,

 

From what i've been reading, the standard Wi-Fi card is not supported by the OS which is a problem as i would need wireless. i've seen people mention about broadcom chip sets working and the dell 1390 being a good card to get, But i was wondering if anyone knows any shops in the UK that i could pick a compatible card up from? Was hoping to pick up the acer one from PC world as they are selling it for £219 but i don't think they would sell the card?

 

Also to check, is the Mic input working now?

Hello. I am a very big fan of this. I got the whole thing up and running on my aspire one and wouldn't you know it, my trackpad stopped working. I have no idea how to fix this. If anyone has some suggestions I would like to hear it.

I overlooked that one of the function keys disables the trackpad. D'oh! Its all good.

I'm currently using Broadcom BCM4321 chipset which is 802.11n card and supports a/g/b. This is the wifi card used in Apple Dell Inspiron, Apple TV and other HP notebooks (windows) - available at Ebay ..Drivers are included in Kalyway install 10.5.2 CD (by selecting wireless broadcom at customize) and automatic driver updates via apple.

Hey guys. I've been lookin for a hack netbook and saw this cheap one at walmart and newegg. This or the dell mini9. but the acer has 120G drive and the dell has max 16G ssd. so i'm leaning toward the acer. can some1 post their xbench scores please?

And the Dell 1500 as well as Apple's own Wireless card use the BCM4321 Broadcom chip. As far as I know it should be supported right off the bat with Airport in OS X no drivers needed. Its funny but I found a cheap Apple Version on ebay, and I am going to install that to see if it works, my hack-intosh will have an Apple part in it... lol...

 

A quick update for some of the things I have experienced. After another complete re-install. I have both Mach Kernerl and System.kext at 9.5.0. I still have no idea how it switched to using Mach Kernel 9.2.0 the other day. And as for the weird shut down issues with a kernel panic. It is the beta battery monitor I have been using. I forgot to install it and the laptop was working perfectly. I installed and behold.. it froze or kernel paniced. So I just restart, stop Darwin, and hit the power button for now, as I want the battery monitor. Just waiting for an update now...

I've installed OS X on my A150 accordingly to the instructions and most things work just like they should. I'm still waiting for the replacement wifi card to arrive.

 

There's small issue with the ethernet driver, it doesn't notice cable plug/unplug. Which one of the Realtek drivers available fixes this?

i've finally could get trough the process and now i got dualboot leopard and XP yeah!!!

 

but...

 

i got some issues... the trash can icon in leopard is not working properly cause when i empty the trash can the icon remains full.... and sometimes i get error -1460 (i honestly don't remember the exact number) when i try to move any folder or file to trash can....

 

do you have any idea why i'm getting this bug???

 

ah btw i have another question: are the kexts files like the linux drivers?? do they have anything in common??

 

i ask this cause the battery kext (the one that fixs the problem http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...ppleACPIBattery ) is based in the linux driver.... well it saids so....

 

update: finally i got over the trash can bug... i've just formated the partition in ntfs and installed macfuse and ntfs 3g to be able to read/write ntfs partitions....

 

and now i got another questions.... does anyone know another way to improve the ethernet recognition? i ask this because i can't get it recognized when i plug it... it only does when i reboot the system... i tried the realtek instaler (the one in the realteks page) but when i install it when i try to shut down i got a kernelpanic

I tried pauls battery kext and successfully got the battery meter to show up, it just acts like I have no battery plugged in. Anyone have any ideas? How would I go about deleting that?

Also I got my audio to auto switch by following a guide on aspireoneusers.

i've got the same problem, i installed the kext for the battery it works until i reboot now i see only a barrey with a x in it (like i have no battrey plugged in.

can anyone help?

I have noticed that the battery monitor in Paul's KEXT's does not work properly, try this one instead, works much better and regularly updated...

how is the battery life?

 

Battery life is pretty decent on the 3 cell battery I get about 2:15 run time consistantly, waiting for my 9 cell 6200maH... Also now waiting for an 802.11n mini Pci-e card (the best part is its an Apple macbook card!) And one update as well. I tried the memory card reader driver that was posted earlier... Does not work... :angel:

Update/Question...

Do the parts, i.e. Keyboard, trackpad/wrist rest, and outer shell of the display, from an SSD based Aspire One, work with the hard drive models? I have a blue Aspire one and looking at some parts to make it white!
