max i replaced your boot files (boot and com.apple.boot.plist) as u said and i booted into 1024x768. now ill try displayconfigx on top of that. tho when i booted with ur boot files i still had the extensions.mkext. i know iwth displayconfigx i have to delete it, i delete the bak.mkext too right? bc iv done that before. keep in mind almost evrytime i try is a fresh install but ill keep at it. thanks for ur thoughts

Hi my friend, are you intalled Chameleon or PC EFI? Its very simple, but many hardware is not compatible...im a shame because im try help and feel guys back results...im so sorry. My video is clear and simple, but computer is very complicated...well, im do my best!!!

I think that we need to figure out our attention to make this GPU works with some hardware acceleration. The native resolution is fact from 6 or 7 months ago and we stuck here....this is real shame. Isn`t there some good coder to help this cause. This is ridiculous

Coding such a driver takes a lot of time and experience. I think the only way to get a driver in the near future would be to pay a developer. For example by setting up a "4500 driver donation" website where all of the 4500 users can donate money for getting such a driver developed. If you could get more than a thousand guys to spend 1 to 5 dollars, it should be possible.

But no serious developer will do such a thing for free, spending weeks and maybe even months of hard work just for fun.

unless apple specifically makes a driver for the x4500 there seems to be no hope for hardware acceleration as other posters said it would be far too time consuming to make one and most coders wouldn't be up to it sorry to say

Apart from that you can do most things without QE. Especially if you're using Leopard and not SL, you won't miss out much (except video editing for example). You can watch almost any type of video or DVDs full screen without hardware acceleration and the right settings / players...(bit pixelated, but works)...you can browse and watch flash movies...you can do music stuff....you can install virtualbox with great performance and use windows apps like magix video or windows movie maker for editing videos....

the main things that don't work are video editing and this stuff....imovie, final cut, and so on.....but as written before, you can install windows in virtualbox with a video editor like magix or movie maker for that.

that's where I use good ol premiere pro cs4 and some other adobe products because they don't need hardware acceleration to run

 

only downside to Ppro cs4 is that the lack of import for .avi in os x

I've sent a message to Slice, an experienced developer here on insanelymac regarding the port of a driver from BSD/Linux over to OSX and this is what I've got:

I am sorry but porting of a video driver is impossible because of we don't know procotols of CoreGraphics and OpenGL.frameworks.

So, that means that there will be no driver for this card unless Apple is making it.

Off-Topic: I have a freezing bug too.. after about 20 mins from bootup time my hard disk clicks and the machine freezes instantly... im still searching a fix for this does anyone have a clue? perhaps its iATKOS? if this is the wrong place for this question then could somone please tell me the right place hehe.

Apps that don't work at all or partially:

 

- IMovie

- IDVD

- IPhoto

- Final Cut

- DVD Player (OSX internal)

- current VLC versions (need to install old 0.8.0 to watch DVDs)

- full screen video playback can suffer from framerate drops, not watching videos in full screen is the best method to watch them fluently

- on Snow Leopard many have problems taking screenshots, works generally better in Leopard

 

 

those are the most important for me that don't work. You can find an alternative to almost every app.

I have an Intel GMA X4500HD on a G43 Express Chipset. All the kexts in this thread doesn't work for me. iDeneb still says - kext not loaded.

 

I want to play NFS: Carbon on my Hackintosh.

 

EDIT: Tried to hex-exit 4500 kexts to use for X4500HD, but no luck.

thanks anselmoso, i knew that vlc had issues infact it didnt work for the .avi files i have just has black screen. vlc would crash on open of .mkv. Any clue if 0.8.0 will fix that? I can tried to install iPC to see if it fixed my crash bug but it failed half way through . its a shame the built in dvd player dosnt function either.

you could just used the modified x3100 kext to fix your resolution problem. It won't enable Quartz Extreme though as there is no current fix for it.

 

i posted my x3100 kext on page 41. Load it into your extensions folder or "S/L/E" as most posters like to call it () restart and then see if you get any positive outcome

I think that those modified kexts works only at 0x2A42 devices. There is a difference between 4500M,4500MHD,4500HD,X4500MHD and etc. so it is very possible to NOT work at 0x2E22.

Hmm the modified kext, its forces a native res and 512mb vram. is there any other way to get a forced res on snow leopard? its just i would like to try out a vanilla snow leo install but i like preview and screenshots XD. does it matter that i would stick with 10.6.0?

Well i checked and the id is 2a42. Its an GMA4500MHD.

 

Edit: Something to say about the modded driver and leopard and my machine: As soon as i get to the boot logo then the laptop actully turns itself off unless i boot with -f (which i think reloads all the kexts or something?) i think it might be charmealion v2 and the /Extra folder it uses. not 100% though.

I've already tried it:

1. In info.plist I changed a setting to this:

<string>0x2E228086</string>

Because I have 2e22.

2. I opened the main AppleIntelX3100 or something like that in WinHEX and changed all occurrences to 86 80 22 2E.

3. Launched with "-v -f cpus=1".

4. Kext not loaded.

5. Loudly screaming.

6. Saying: "WTF?!".

I edited my x3100 with your dev id so you can just load up the kext and see what happens

(btw i edited the IOPCIMatch and put your dev id there not the IOPCIPrimaryMatch)

 

@ Link i'm using the v1 chameleon that comes with ipc 10.5.6 I haven't used cham v2 because of the issues that it currently has so that might be apart of your problem. Dunno if you could just revert back to the original chameleon and try it again

Im currently installing iATKOS V7 again... I'm trying this time the BootThink (but it has a new name with Xeriy or something) to see if i still get these freezes... Everything would be fine without them lol. booting with -f was not caused by the kext as i noticed the machine did it before i even installed it .

 

Im not sure but i think the freezes might be either caused by:

 

1. The hard drive im using which is 4-5 years old and slooow

2. an application im installing after the first boot up.

 

Not to mention that speedstepping is not 100% working either.. core1 is 100% and speedstepping works on core2 so its odd. Core 2 Duo T5800 @ 2.0 GHz. Odd even more is it sometimes worked..... i need to closly pin point the problem by installing things one by one and rebooting. hope it works

 

Well iATKOS is done now, time too test.

 

EDIT: i was thinking of not even using the kext but just to use the displayconfigx method.

 

EDIT2: Damn it wont even boot up with this other boot loader. just restart straight when the apple logo appears... damn hackintoshes lmao :S

lol what boot loader are you using? I'm using the regular darwin boot loader that I first used with the ipc dvd

 

i never update the boot loader unless it's worth it because it can cause all sorts of issues with the newer updates

 

but try resolving that quickly

 

btw what boot loader are you trying to use?
