My Compaq CQ-40 Laptop havin a X4500.It ran smoothly using Tinneke's AppleIntelGMA3100 Kexts wtih a native resolution. Recently I flashed ma bios from F.24 to F.30 which resulted in Mouse Pointer corruption problem.Having a 5" box with transparent lines instead of mouse pointer.

 

I later tried with patch4500 and also GMA4500.pkg. there was no hope. So I installed Chameleon RC2 and tried with "Graphics Mode"="1280x800x32@60Hz" and -v Kernel Flags. The system is getting restarted after loading kernel.("Not the usual apple Switch off Error").

 

 

Do we hav a solution for this??? ;)

I think I already replied on this, but it's possible that I wasn't really clear.

 

I am under the impression that you might have messed up your com.apple.Boot.plist in the process of adding Graphics mode. As I am unsure on what exactly you edited, could you tell me what changes you made for the graphics mode setting? And did you remove all patched kexts?

I have removed all the patched GMAX3100 kexts. I added

 

-v "Graphics Mode"="1280x800x32@60Hz"

 

in OSX86Tools kernel flags. my booting order is like this

 

Grub > Chameleon.

(as I have a Win7 + Ubuntu 8.10 + OSX 10.5.2 Kalyway)

 

I have 2 HFS partitions in my System OSX1 and OSX2. by default chameleon selects OSX2. AsLeopard is installed in OSX1, I have to use arrow keys to select OSX1. when I enter OSX1 it boots without any flags, I am sure,booting graphical mode and getting the 1024x768 resolution. to get verbose mode, I have to enter -v again @ the prompt.(Kernel flags in OSXtools is getting ignored). when I enter this flag @ the prompt

 

-v "Graphics Mode"="1280x800x32@60Hz"

 

Its getting restarted. I have checked the Video info in Chameleon and there is no 1280x800 mode :P

Okay, I see.. So you can boot to graphical if you type nothing at the boot prompt?? And if you type the -v "Graphics Mode"="1280x800x32@60Hz", your pc restarts, is that it?

 

Try changing /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist and change it so it says:

and report back with the results. Btw, you are running chameleon 2 RC2? This does not work with chameleon 2 RC1 or any standard version from before that.

Well I am running chameleon 2 RC2. I have modified the com.apple.Boot.plist as u specified. Now the Restart problem has got solved. But I couldn't get the native resolution yet. Still on 1024x768.. :(

Well I am running chameleon 2 RC2. I have modified the com.apple.Boot.plist as u specified. Now the Restart problem has got solved. But I couldn't get the native resolution yet. Still on 1024x768.. :)

For the chameleon RC2 method no kexts are needed, so you should get your native resolution. Since you don't get it, I would suggest going to the chameleon forum and asking for support there, since it's not really related to the kext we're trying to mod. I'm very sure they will be able to help you there :)

Perhaps not directly related to QE/CI -- but does anyone here have SLEEP working, either just display sleep or system sleep with x4500 (mhd in my case)?

 

I'm happy leaving the resolution and acceleration unfixed.. its just a pain to have the screen on all the time.

 

Is this dependent on having a working driver? It just locks up when you try to system sleep, and it tries then fails when trying to sleep video.

 

Is there any simple way to diagnose this unrelated / less complicated than this QE/CI issue?

Easy way for new guys! No Mouse disapear, but no QE/CI!

In the end you be running the resolution 1280x800 (notebooks, higher resolution not supported only 1280x800)

 

Download this zip file

 

Folow the instructions, very easy to understand no complicated commands!

 

Hope this help someguys!

Do you have a dualboot??

XP OS X

Vista OS

you dont need to reinstall

open terminal window

type:

sudo -s

sudo nano /library/preferences/systemconfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

 

delete this values

 

where says "Quite Boot" "Yes"

Delete and write No

hey guys i found some kexts on the internet for the GMA4500. i installed them and they didnt do anything for me at all. but i figure that maybe they might hold some valuable information on getting the GMA4500 fully working on a hackintosh. ive included the kexts in a zip file included below

well i dont have native resolution...i have tried every patch. ive tried the bootloader trick with "graphics mode"="aaaaxbbbxcc". and it kinda icks me off that i am incapable of getting native resolution no matter what i do. my native resolution 1366x768. so if any of you are willing to give me advice it would be much appreciated.

I also translated it.. Seems like it's a dead end.. I don't even know if it's a hex edit of other drivers, or if it is a self written driver..

Oh well, It worked for me!

Strange! :whistle:

 

 

When I installed the kexts in the forum, or my cursor gone, (cursor issue, I know!) or I have a blue screen!

 

This patch I found only replace the Boot file, then add the 1280x800 resolution on com.apple.Boot.plist file

 

Well I will the kexts, patches, etc.. for you guys!
