can any one confirm they are getting 1000 with this driver, don't look at the software: to confirm it look at your router, I can manualy set the speed to 1000 but the router says 10.

I also have this problem ... although i configured the network interface to use 100Mbit full duplex and OS X actually reports the interface as 100Mbit full duplex, i'll just get a 10Mbit connection anyway. ;)

All works on my

Dell XPS 420

4 Gb DDR 2

Intel Chipset X38

Intel LAN 82566-DC2 (onboard)

Kayway 10.5.2.

To install I downloaded Kext Helper b7, extract on Mac Desktop and copied in it the folder in the tar.gz.

Of course I verified the drivers id a ricardo and others said.

Anyone get this to work in BRIDGED mode in VMware? I only have one PCI and one PCIex slot on the Dell 755, and the PCI slot cover is taken by the 9500gt's 2nd port (VGA). I think I will order a USB ethernet adapter, but it would be nice if the 82566 series worked properly in VMware. Thanks Guijin Ding!

Hi,

I am having the problem whereby i cn only get this driver to work in safe mode.

What could possibly be killing it in non safe mode?

I, too, would like to see this work in bridged mode. My work Laptop is a Lenovo R61 7737-A42, and I can get VMWare to work in NAT mode, but I'd rather it be able to connect to my work network natively through bridging.

It works acceptably as NAT, but I want to be able to direct some incoming traffic to my VM, and well, NAT just complicates things.

I've already had to resort to using a PCCARD Wifi Nic since the iwi3945 drivers are incomplete. I'd like to have at least ONE of my NICs fully functional!

Thanks for all your work on this project, else I would have nothing at all, let alone the bridging issue.

Has *anyone* had success in bridged mode?

big thanks! I have got Intel82566MM worked on 10.5.2!

you just need to modify the Info.plist as follows:

On my OSX (10.5.2) the version string should be:

<key>OSBundleLibraries</key>

<dict>

<key>com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily</key>

<string>1.6.0</string>

<key>com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily</key>

<string>2.4.1</string>

<key>com.apple.kpi.bsd</key>

<string>9.2.2</string>

<key>com.apple.kpi.iokit</key>

<string>9.2.2</string>

<key>com.apple.kpi.libkern</key>

<string>9.2.2</string>

<key>com.apple.kpi.mach</key>

<string>9.2.2</string>

</dict>

Because I haven't really looked at the code I can only offer the following advice to improve OS compatibility.

Change all:

<string>9.x.x</string>

to:

<string>7.9.9</string>

compile using the 10.4 SDK and the driver should work for any version of 10.4.x and 10.5.x.

The source code was available only in the firsts Guijin Ding releases. The license terms are GNU based so can be freely distributed with no modification.

Since Guijin Ding seems to have decided to stop any further development I'm upping up the code so anyone, particularly the ones with knowledge on drivers programming, may take a look to fill the missing pieces.

Cheers.

Hi Gang, I'm having a problem installing this on a 10.5.6 distro (XxX_10.5.6_Leo_Install_Disc_PPF1).

I placed the kext in the sys/lib/ext folder , delete the extensions.mkext and cache folder, ran disk util to repair the disk permissions, reboot and I get this error:

===

System extension cannot be used

The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/Intel82566MM.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the products vendor for an update

=====

What did I do wrong?

I'm on a dell 9200c / xps 210

I own a real copy of OSX, BTW.

Scratch That, I'm an idiot.

Got it working using OSX86Tools. I didn't have to change the PLIST. It is installed and is working correcty!

Next, the sound.

This worked (well, I'm unsure, but the device was definitely recognized) for me before, but after a fresh install, I can't get it to work now.

The only thing I can think which is different is that I'm on 10.5.5 as opposed to 10.5.2. (Upgraded from same 10.5.2 install to 10.5.3, then 10.5.4, then 10.5.5.)

I changed the com.apple.kpi.[x] values to match my kernel, and the two above those. They're all what (the guide from page 2 says) they should be.

Anyone got any ideas?

EDIT: Or if someone would upload their 10.5.5 (working) kext, I'd appreciate it.

Hi folks,

i'm having dificulties getting my onboard 82562V-2 ethernet controller running at something else than 10Mbit. I tried to configure the network interface manually using the media parameter of ifconfig, but that didnt help either and even though osx reports that it is running at 100Mbit, the router and the transfer speeds say the connection is running at just 10Mbit.

en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
	inet6 fe80::21d:92ff:fe71:44ae%en0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x4

The motherboard sports an ICH9 chipset and the following is the the output of "lspci -v" regarding the ethernet controller.

00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82562V-2 10/100 Network Connection (rev 02)

	Capabilities: [c8] Power Management version 2
	Capabilities: [d0] Message Signalled Interrupts: Mask- 64bit+ Queue=0/0 Enable-
	Capabilities: [e0] Vendor Specific Information <?>

Please help me with this if you can. If you need any more information, please tell me. I'll try to do my best to provide you with all the details you need.
