I don't found another topic about this argument and then I post this very important question... How about jailbreaking ipod touch 2G ??? We're waiting dev team ..... tomxster
The new Ipod touch 2G has a different processor for applications. the way to jailbreak the ipod touch, iphone, or iphone 3G that Pwnage (for example) used to follow is not available on this one (N72AP) So, Jailbreak Ipod Touch 2G = wait
cmdshft
The n72ap uses a different bootloader due to the different processor. Because of the change in hardware, they would also have been able to fix the DFU exploit in their bootrom code. Bootrom code can only be repaired via hardware updates, as once the chip is flashed there is no way to modify it.

cmdshft
No jailbreak, and it doesn't look like there will be for a long time from the Dev Team anyway. http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118623

Ongeloof
Why is the 2G iPod touch less important that the iPhone 3G? Why not let them wait for a bit. Its the same situation as AMD and Intel Processors when it comes to OSx86. Its stupid the way its prioritized. There are a good few devs who could try their hand i'm sure. cmdshft
Why is the 2G iPod touch less important that the iPhone 3G? Why not let them wait for a bit. Its the same situation as AMD and Intel Processors when it comes to OSx86. Its stupid the way its prioritized. There are a good few devs who could try their hand i'm sure. It's not stupid. They are not called the Dev Team, they are the iPhone DevTeam. The focus for them was mainly the iPhone the entire time, it just so happened that the iPod touch, iPhone and iPhone 3G shared the same hardware, so their method could easily be brought to the touch. The 2nd Gen iPod touch is not on their list because it's not an iPhone and software unlocking the baseband on the iPhone 3G was top priority. Also, the iPod touch doesn't share the same hardware as the other devices, so they really have no obligation to go out of their way to jailbreak it, on top of it only being a hobby for the iPhone Dev Team, so they can do whatever they want really. If you disagree, learn some assembly and how bootrom, LLB and ##### work on the iPod touch 2G and get to work. THEHAWKs
i think the only way of unlocking the Ipod touch 2G is if apple made a next revision of the iPhone that had the same hardware.
Antonio92
Well, the good way would happen if dev teams focus on that.

Eric.C
one question for ipod/iphone developers out there: with the imminent release of the iPod touch 2G, its inevitable that the bluetooth functionality will also be enabled... how hard will it be to rewrite the phone and sms apps to take advantage of the ipod's bluetooth's chip, and using a cellphone connected via bluetooth to make calls and text message? i know making calls is possible because its on one of my friends samsung touchscreen mp3 player (samsung y2p2 i believe its called)

Deavy
5 hours ago on iphone_dev twitter chanel I saw this: «iPod Touch 2G: Hi, welcome to the jailbreak family http://is.gd/mPQj Now go outside and play until supper time.» http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=155770 Does anybody tryed? Can anybody wrote full instruction how to JB iPod Touch 2G?
Wayfarer247
I did it. Chronic and the Dev-Team were meaning to hold the release of the full jailbreak, but because NitroKey tried to capitalize on it, they released the exploit so it wouldn't become a marketing scheme. They had hoped to hold it until the new iPhone was releases, so if the iPhone was vunerable to the new exploit, it would all be jailbroken easily. If you want to jailbreak your iTouch, use QuickFreedom. It has full instructions in there - the only complicated part is install libusb. I used this guide to install it for me. And guess what? It works!! So now we can jailbreak out second generation iTouch's. Welcome to a new world!
inimicus
QuickFreedom is Windows only. So Mac users can use this guide: http://www.modmyi.com/forums/ipod-news/523...-guide-mac.html It's not difficult at all. If anything, it tests your reading comprehension and ability to follow instructions. Quite painless. Read the whole thing first. There's plenty of download links you'll need to complete the process. /me enjoys rebirthed iPod Touch.
