torpie13
Hi there, I've got an Asus F3Jp. and I'm using iAktos 4.1i updated to 10.5.5. And my Codec is Realtek ALC660-VD. First of all, I've deleted the AppleAzilla.kext . The audio drivers I got from this thread works perfectly. The problem is that it works randomly !!!! Let me explain myself: when I boot my 10.5.5, sometime the drivers are loaded, the audio then works right. And sometimes when I boot, the audio isn't working at all. So, at each boot the behaviur of the drivers is different. weired, not ? It's a very annoying situation. 1- In the "About this mac/system profiles/Hardware/Audio" : - When I use AppleHDA.kext from kabyl it shows: Device ID: 0x10431339 Audio ID: 12 - When I use ALCinject.kext it shows nothing (ie a blanc panel) Even when the audio works. 2- In the "About this mac/system profiles/Software/Extentions" - When the sound is not working I see (depending which one is used) either ALCinject.kext or the AppleHDA.kext listed in the extentions panel. - When the audio is working ok I dont see neither ALCinject.kext nor AppleHDA.kext listed in the extentions. Off course I dont use ALCinject.kext and AppleHDA.kext at the same time. And AppleAzilla.kext is deleted. 3- My Linux codec dump are telling me this: Codec: Realtek ALC660-VD Address: 0 Vendor Id: 0x10ec0660 Subsystem Id: 0x10430000 Why the Subsystem Id is not the same as the Device ID: 0x10431339 when I use AppleHDA.kext ?? All the files Im talking about are attached to this post (including AppleHDA.kext and my Linux Codec dump). Can you tell me what's wrong ? Can any one have a clue ? I hope I was clear in my problem description. Thanx alot for your help ALC660VD.zip

easter_rebel
Os X Leopard introduced new codecs, inside their AppleHDA binary so why not to use them. THe KiNG
Not everyone gets it. 1. You are totally wrong! 2. He asked about codec dump, the answer is in that quote(I was hush b/c I don't see the reason to quote a whole damn long guide and ask after a such simple/stupid question), and I answer to him, if you don't belive me just type on google: "linux codec dump" and read first result... We appreciate how much time you've put in.. but c'mon man. I don't care about appreciations, I care when I see how people learn and share. Listen... you've been hostile with ANYONE that's asked a question. If you refer on my guide I specified very clear: Please don't ask here for patched kexts or anything else, try to keep this topic just for info! But that's other topic and people always ask stupid questions and after that read...I think it's in human dumb nature... Cheers! @ MadTux Where are you bro? I'm waiting for you to discuss some DSDT audio stuff, you know where to find me...
live.fx
Hello, MadTux and all. I`m post this some times ago, but NOONE answer to me in another thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=135137&st=0&p=957864entry957864 I follow yours guide, but i can`t enable my Asus P5B AD1988 audio... I do many tries, but my audio work only with Azalia (only audio out) and no line in. By yours tutorial, i`m load modified AppleHDA.kext with HDAenabler.kext, but no sound. the first lines of my Linux code dump is: Codec: Analog Devices AD1988 Address: 0 Vendor Id: 0x11d41988 Subsystem Id: 0x104381e1 Revision Id: 0x100400 And i replace by "8819D411" in AppleHDA the "8B19D411" value. (i think, this for AD1988B - and more like my codec and must work). But i have no any sounds and no any controls in audio controls. Look to this kernel messages, please: HDAEnabler: Copyright © 2008 by Kabyl HDAEnabler: 05/05/2008 Added SPAudio support:Taruga Sound assertion "0 == pathMap_aDriverInstance" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 1653 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != createAudioEngines ( fPathMap_aDriverInstance )" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 108 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 == pathMap_aDriverInstance" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 1653 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != createAudioEngines ( fPathMap_aDriverInstance )" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 108 goto Exit my linux code dump attached (i`m don`t think, what someone interest look to it but may be i`m loose some important info?) _____ PLease, say me - Is the possible enable OUT and Microphone IN in AD1988 for ASUS P5B ? I`m not need any preconfigured kext and other. I can do this for myself ! But i`m need to know - is the possible? l_dump.txt

live.fx
Ok. Another point of view. 1. I have this guide. I use it - step by step. (without PIN config) 2. After modification, i`m do reboot with AppleHDA.kext and HDAenabler.kext installed, and AppleAzaliaAudio.kext-removed. 3. I have no sound. But have some info from "dmesg" command, and i see AppleHDA.kext-loaded. AppleHDAController.kext-loaded, AppleHDAPlatformDriver.kext - loaded also. 4. After second reboot (without any modifications) i don`t see AppleHDAPlatformDriver.kext - it is not loaded... ~~~ What i can do next? How i can use this debug info from "dmesg" ?: Sound assertion "0 != fAudioFunctionGroup->setExternalControlForDefaultDeviceTypeAndTag ( true, pinDefaultDeviceType (), getUnsolicitedTagForDeviceType () )" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDAPathSet.cpp" at line 82 goto Exit Sound assertion "!pathSet->initPathSetFromXML ( pathSet_aArrayOfPathArrays, functionGroup )" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDAEngine.cpp" at line 601 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != result" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDAEngine.cpp" at line 6074 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != buildPathSets ( pathGroupArray )" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDAEngine.cpp" at line 178 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != result" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 1699 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != createAudioEngines ( fPathMap_aDriverInstance )" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 108 goto Exit Sound assertion "!vRefArgumentIsSupported" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDAWidget.cpp" at line 1435 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != result" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDAFunctionGroupExternalControl_VirtualGPO.cpp" at line 83 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != fAudioFunctionGroup->setExternalControlForDefaultDeviceTypeAndTag ( true, pinDefaultDeviceType (), getUnsolicitedTagForDeviceType () )" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDAPathSet.cpp" at line 82 goto Exit Sound assertion "!pathSet->initPathSetFromXML ( pathSet_aArrayOfPathArrays, functionGroup )" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDAEngine.cpp" at line 601 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != result" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDAEngine.cpp" at line 6074 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != buildPathSets ( pathGroupArray )" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDAEngine.cpp" at line 178 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != result" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 1699 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != createAudioEngines ( fPathMap_aDriverInstance )" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-157.1.24/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 108 goto Exit In "HOWTO" - With this U can hopefully boot and have sound. P.P.S: Change in Controler plist are crucial, but U can boot with your AppleHDA.kext with only this informations in HDAController plist file, but System profiler will not show your inputs. But i`m not have any sounds from any out`s of soundcard. I need to rewrite Pin`s configurations for audio IN - OUT`s properly work, and for System Profiler controls? AD1988. Someone get all outs worked for this card?
live.fx
Hm. I`m change some pin configuration. System stop boot (black screen instead of login window) When i remove AppleHDA.kext - all boot nice. I think, in my case, i need this little fan guide: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=127819 No simple ways for me.

litroncn
Thanks, MadTux!, Nice Job. Still no sound at all, I was able to find the pin numbers using HDAPatcher 1.20 and came up with this: Back Mic: 9 34 24 Line In : 8 35 26 Speaker : 20 12 2 LineOut 1: 21 13 3 Headphone: 27 38 37 Spdif In : 10 31 Spdif Out: 30 6 I can't get osx to recognize the sound card (I'm using HDAEnabler.kext with AppleHDA.kext). From about this mac, I get Intel High Definition Audio: Device ID: 0x1458A002 Audio ID: 12 Available Devices: Speaker: Connection: Unknown i can't find the device thru the System Preferences. i can't tell what's wrong with my Info.plist, i dump the audio codec under xubuntu 8.10. when i load the kext, there is some erros as follows: sorry for my bad english. kramer2k
You've got to change the first Zero (0) to a two (2), as your codec is Address 2 So change 01471C10 to 21471C10...for all of them If you can, just go to the tutorial section, find the AppleHDA thread and download Cparm's kext at the end, then insert your pin config in the appropriate place (AppleHDAcontroller.kext info.plist file) Good luck! BTW, what mobo do you have?
hooded_crow
Greetings! All right; I admit it. This stuff is beyond me. I can't figure it out. I just want to have sound play properly through my laptop and not just through the USB headphones I have. I'm not sure if this is where I should post this request, but I'm willing to pay for someone to do this for me. I have neither the time nor the expertise. Please PM me to let me know what information you would need from me. Please note: this is not meant to be an incendiary request. I just need a task done and I can't do it. mallard1983
I have got sound coming out of my headphone jack now thanks to this, but I am still having problems getting everything right. I was wondering if someone could help me figure out what I am doing wrong. I will include the linux dump, and a copy of the Vista Reg that you said to use. Also I am including a copy of the current state of the applehda.kext file if it helps. Hopefully someone can help me figure this out? Pb:No headphone, no mic and it seems int mic are inversed (names too)... PinConfig comes from a linux codec dump, HDAbin is patched, layouts are the only problem... eberts
Hi, I'm afraid this doesn't work anymore for the latest 1.6.2a37 kext? I tried several times, compared with the previous one - kexts get loaded but no audio devices So we have to stick to the 10.5.5 driver until someone figures out what's different again in 10.5.6. Thx eberts
enb14
maybe with this one, i think lin-in and mic-in shoulc work now hey cparm have you tryied using 10.5.6 kexts yet? I hex edited AppleHDA.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleHDA and replaced ALC 262 for ALC 888, added the pinconfig strings in Controler.plist and then I haven't edited the PlatformDriver.plist because I have no clue how to do it or if is always needed even if I have HDAEnabler, by the way what's the use for HDAEnabler? is still needed? Now I don't even have the speaker icon at the top bar, so my question is what should I be doing wrong?

sweetsteal
Hey all, first let me say i am a complete noob! Next let me say how much I appreciate all the work everyone has done Especially Madtux, all the hours of work don't go unnoticed! I have the Acer Aspire One with the alc 268 chipset. I have tried all the previous kext. I currently have sound with switching etc and am very grateful for it (using macsticks kext). However, the internal mic shows no volume control and it is so low that it does not capture any audio! I have tried other kexts that are supposed to have fixed this issue but to no avail. :-( I have attached a copy of my codec dump, I am really hoping someone can help me finish the final details!!! Thank you! Sorry forgot the Dump !!! Thanks again! OK I have made a lot of progress but I can't seem to tackle a problem I have with the alc268 microphone, and i was hoping you could help me out! I have the Acer Aspire One, with the ALC268 chipset I have read your tutorial and done all the steps and I have SOUND working!!! I even managed to get the Mic to show up, Unfortunatly I cannot get the mic to show a volume control!! also the mic volume is EXTREMLY low to the point that it is barely even listenable!!, I will do anything to get this working! Attached is a linux dump and current applehda.kext PLEASE PLEASE help me out!!!! thanks, Sweetsteal AAO_Dump.txt AppleHDA.kext.zip
