I wonder if my spec will work? Am worried about GTX 260 mostly. So far i was unable to even boot after install. Even it says successful.

I will reply tomorrow when I have the time......OK?........ :)

1. this is what i got from running -v -x...post-434609-1243707455_thumb.jpg

2. this is what was in System Profiler > Displays...post-434609-1243707555_thumb.jpg

3. I used NVinject 768MB. That worked for me before so i will try it again.

4. I do wish to run two monitors off of the single EVGA 8800 GTX 768MB.

5. I did attempt to to do the IOPCIClassMatch but i kept getting the permissions pop up. i thought i reset the permissions to edit all files but some how i cant figure that out yet. i had found all the places in each file to put the lines of code but i couldnt save it.

thanks verdant

Could you explain in more detail exactly what you mean by

Have you enabled one or both of your onboard LAN ports in your BIOS......as I say they are "my recommended initial settings".....assuming users will enable onboard LAN (at least one port) if they are going to use it, i.e. do not have a PCI NIC etc......

Are you using eno's nForceLAN.kext [0.62.13n]?......it supports nForce LAN from the nForce1 to the MCP79......but ensure that nvenet.kext is renamed as nvenet.kext.bad.....Also check that forcedeth.kext and nForceEthernetController.kext are not installed in /System/Library/Extensions.......the easy way is to run eno's nForceLAN installer .pkg as will remove these kexts if they are present..... :)

Hi there,

Since you have a Retail OS X 10.5.6 DVD, you are welcome to try (without any guarantee that it will work with only -v rather than -v -x or -v -f for you) my nForce iso file, which I can successfully run with

rd(0,1)/mach_kernel.voodoo -v boot-uuid=10.5.6 Retail DVD uuid

to get into the Retail OS X 10.5.6 DVD installer.......

I have thus installed Retail OS X 10.5.6 on a 18GB USB HDD (HDD is unfortunately very slow as ATA66 and 4200rpm) partitioned/formatted as GPT/HFS+, with Chameleon 2.0 RC1 as the bootloader.....I am in the process of testing out the Retail OS X 10.5.6 install.....

so i managed to get my hands on a IDE drive. and now im not getting the hoirrble still waiting for root device error!

It is a simple .zip file......to burn to CD you just need to unzip and burn a copy of the .iso file.......this is because it is already a virtual CD.......

these r SS from kabyl BOOT and yours 1 is bootable and the other not

there must be something missing

I will download the same file and burn it to CD now........you have me wondering now!

Do....oh

I think I have found the problem......I zipped the .iso image as a .zip file and guess what unzip does!......it unzips the .iso image itself. I have now saved the .iso image file in a folder and then zipped the folder, so that unzipping only unzips the folder, leaving the .iso image file intact inside the folder.......does that make sense to you.... Sorry for wasting your CDs...... :tomato:

I am burning the .iso file in the unzipped folder to a CD-RW and if it boots OK, I will upload the zipped folder and post the link here....... :)

UPDATE: Procedure works......so will post the link as soon as I can...... :(

Alrighty, got it installed, but it goes to Windows boot manager and of course it's not there. Reinstall with the Chameleon loader? [if so, if i choose to remove OSx86 from my comp, will the Chameleon loader be erased as well?]

Also, Realtek is the audio driver [according to Vista, Win7 calls it Hi-Def Audio, lol], don't recall anything on the list for that.

You can use EasyBCD 1.7.2 or EasyBCD 2.0 Beta in Vista and Chameleon 2.0 RC1 in OS X......this way you have a bootloader that sees all OSs in both Windows and OS X......

Audio is not mentioned in the list because it is generally MOBO specific.....AFIK it is a Realtek ALC888S.....so you can use a ALC888 driver.......try the ALC888 kexts here or try VoodooHDA v0.2.2.....

Thank you so much for the help, I got OSx86 up and running on my desktop with such an easier time than my laptop, everything worked as soon as it was installed [with exception of the graphics card]. All 6GB works, all 4 cores work and is detected at 3.2GHz [just gotta edit in my cpu model :(]

I gotta recommend the first link you gave me for the graphics card. Aquamacs way kept giving me these weird errors and kernal panics. I just had to boot with -v -f once and it works wonderfully with both cores detected [the second is detected with no memory though =\]. But it works :)

That is a good thumbs up for the netkas Universal injector then........it is the latest injector out there that I am aware of......but also is not recommended for Pre-8 series nVidia GFX cards......hence only 8000 and 9000 and the latest 200 series cards.....
