You need to choose an appropriate AppleSMBIOS.......I normally recommend AppleSMBIOS-27 Rev3 Mac Pro as the initial choice for a Desktop system.....

The panic is related to the IOATABlockstorage, IOStorageFamily, AppleNForceATA kexts......starting with the 64bit IOMemoryDescriptor, which as Apple say is

The IOMemoryDescriptor object represents a buffer or range of memory, specified as one or more physical or virtual address ranges. It contains methods to return the memory's physically contiguous segments (fragments), for use with the IOMemoryCursor, and methods to map the memory into any address space with caching and placed mapping options.

hence "getPhysicalSegment() out of 32b range 0x1029c0000 class IOGeneralMemoryDescriptor......"

So, your problem appears to relate to 64bit memory addressing......are you using slashack's AppleNForceATA.kext v0.1 to overcome the 3GB RAM limit.......?

I am not sure what more to suggest......try setting your computer on Quickcluster then upon submitting, see if the processor is available in the drop pane saying "this computer" and assign the cores to use for the render.....

You can try reinstalling......the different distros if they are using the same patches/kexts and 10.5.6 base system will make no difference to how OS X runs if you are choosing the correct kernel and kexts/patches for your system......

With your EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard you can try to see if the vanilla kernel works OK as it appears to on some nForce 750i MOBOs.....if not, you are back with Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel......

How much MOBO RAM are you running? Can you boot the Install DVD without needing to use cpus=1?

In BIOS set Intel EIST to [Disabled] and suggest that initially until OS X is installed you temporarily remove the RocketRAID card.....

If you want to RocketRAID OS X you need to install the OS X driver and RAID utility via rr3xxx-mac-v120-113007.dmg......AFAIK, OS X currentlycannot be directly installed to arrays on a RocketRAID adapter.....to boot OS X from an array, you need to clone an installed system to the array.....also I do not know about the rr3520-efi.blf EFI BIOS image as regards OSx86......

Could you explain how to install AppleHDA.kext (this is on 2-nd "here")

You can use Kext Helper b7.......you may also need ALCinject.kext......

Burn your DVD at ≤ x4 speed......

Check your BIOS settings according post #1 template for 750i OS X settings and check IDE cable connection/Jumper setting for your IDE HDD as per post #1 explanation.....try IDE HDD as Master first.....

Boot Install DVD with -v cpus=1 maxmem=2048 and if you still get "waiting for root device error" then borrow a PATA (IDE) DVDRW to try.....set IDE DVDRW as Master and IDE HDD as Slave......see post #1.....

Try iDeneb v1.4 and select initially ONLY

AppleNForceATA Test

9.5.0 Voodoo ( Intel/AMD/SSE2/SSE3 )

AppleSMBIOS Mac Pro

Seatbelt Fix

as video, network and audio drivers can be installed after basic OS X system is running OK.....

i have the IDE HDD set to master already, and burned the disc at 4x [4 TIMES!]

and i still get the same errors

i dont know anyone with a PATA drive, is there any way around that? or will i just have to find one?

if worst comes to worse, ill buy one at wallymart and then return it.

Audio AD1988B chipset......see post #1 towards the end.....

Assume you using eno's nForceLAN.kext for networking.....see post #1......

Dual nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX / 9800 GTX 512MB graphics cards.....see here....and to cure mouse lag with QT7.6, rename AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext as AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext.bad....

Dual booting Vista and OS X off single HDD.......try Chameleon 2.0RC1 in OS X, or EasyBCD 1.7.2 in Vista.....

Try Chameleon 2.0RC1 in OS X, or EasyBCD 1.7.2 in Vista.....if using GPT (i.e. GUID) partition scheme then use EasyBCD 2.0 Beta (now Build 60)......

My guess is .......HDMI_SPDIF header on MOBO connecting HDA to your HDMI graphics card......so you need a ALC888 driver that gives SPDIF output......try the driver here from THe KiNG.....or try VoodooHDA v0.2.2.....
