Would it be possible set the three partitions, install OS X, then install Chameleon bootloader, then install the two others operating sytems? Do you think this would work well?

No reason why it should not if you want OS X to be the default boot system.....

Do you happen to know if this is faster or slower than windows boot? it sure look nicer.

I checked out my BIOS and it looks the same. Im supposed to change to look like what you put? Will this do anything to my vista that I have loaded on my computer right now?

What do I do after I have changed the BIOS?

Have you by now downloaded a OS X Install DVD distro yet? e.g. iPC 10.5.6 Final Version with V1.1 Patch etc.?

Could you possibly pass me a link? There are so many I don't want to download the wrong one.

EDIT: No need I found one ... I hope its the write one, from what you have told me I think it is. Can you verify?

Thanks alot for your help ;)

What does the patch do? Im just waiting for the download. I'm downloading Windows Seven and the OS X iso, I guess I should download Linux also. Do you have a version of Linux that you prefer most?

I'm that I first disable everything you disabled in the BIOS, Partition my hard drive into three sections wipe all the data off, Install the iPC OS X, load the chameleon, install Windows Seven, then install Linux.

Did I miss anything? Is there anything that needs to be changed to make it run more like the average iMac?

See here for the patch......

The iPC 10.5.6 OS X Installer has a chameleon bootloader on it already that it installs.......see here......

Boot the iPC Install DVD with -v cpus=1 maxmem=2048 at the Darwin boot: prompt.....

In the iPC "Customize" menu, select as follows (to get a basic OS X system running).....

iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Base System (installed by default with AppleDecrypt.kext and Disabler.kext)

Language Translations - Optional

iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Intel AMD SSE2 SSE3

Kernels - 9.5.0 Voodoo Kernel

Drivers - Video Drivers - NVIDIA - None initially - EFI strings can be installed later.....see here.....

Drivers - Chipset Drivers - AppleNForceATA - Use default AppleNforceATA as you have 4GB and use a IDE (PATA) DVDRW....

Drivers - Audio Drivers - None initially - this we can sort out later once OSx86Tools gives me some more information....

Drivers - Ethernet Drivers - None initially - nForceLan.kext can be installed later.....see here for nForceLAN_0.62.13.pkg.zip

Drivers - USB Drivers - Patched USB Drivers

Fixes and Patches - Seatbelt.kext 10.5.5 (must be installed if Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel is installed)

Fixes and Patches - AppleSMBIOS Patch - AppleSMBIOS-27 Rev3 Mac Pro

Applications - Optional and all can be selected except Marvin's AMD Utility

Double check "Customize" choices, click Done, then in Install Summary window, click "Install". When install begins, choose to (or not) skip the DVD verify process.

When all processes are killed and DVD drive activity stops and the re-boot "beep" sounds, remove the DVD and boot from the HDD by pressing F8 at boot-up to bring up the PC BIOS "Boot Menu", then selecting the HDD and pressing Enter.

On the HDD Darwin boot loader appearance, press F8 quickly and at the "boot:" simply type "-v -f" (without quotes) and wait as verbose booting takes place successfully into the Welcome screen video sequence......

For beginners to Linux (I know Linux fans may disagree but Ubuntu is currently the most popular Linux for a reason.....), I suggest you try Ubuntu 8.10.......

As well as making the [Disable] changes have you also made the [Enable] changes......?

Always boot with -v after the initial reboot with -v -f.......this way you will be able to see and report any errors during booting......

@Verdant

Always? even after a few boots like this?

Until you are happy that everthing is working without a glitch.......

Personally I always boot with -v as I like to keep an eye on the boot process......and get tired of seeing the "Apple" and rotating timer during bootup on my real Macs everyday...... ;)

I see what your getting at, I was just wondering if you had to do it every time for it to boot properly. So it would be good just doing that for the first few times and then after that add the -v too your boot every once in a while?

It is not required to boot properly.......it is just that once you have see the lines on the screen a few times......it enables you to pick out any problems more quickly............but one a while should be fine.......especially if you suspect anything.....

Had many problem getting all 4 cores working on my ASUS Formula II (790iUltra)

Tried IPC 10.5.6 - Ideneb 1.4;1.3 everything was but the cores.

I could only use 1 core with Cpus=1 method or idlehalt=0 cpus=2 in order to use two cores

I MANAGED TO GET ALL MY CORES WORKING!!

Here is what I have done

Installed Ideneb 1.4 with Cpus=1 fix

Then Installed AnV 1.4 Kernel (9.6.0 kernel)

Removed cpus=1 in boot.plist

and added macmodel=macpro3,1 and -f (you have to use -f or you won't be able to boot )

then install custom IOATAFamily.kext in order to get rid of IOQuietWait at boot

TADAAA all cores working ! I happy wanted to share this with you

Where do you believe the problem with your system lies......as others have had no problems with iPC and Voodoo kernel and getting 4 cores working.......?

Having to use -f to boot means that you are having to force a reload of all kexts from /System/Library/Extensions rather than from Extensions.mkext and a dumping of the boot configuration cache (kext cache).......

Very strange......

To make your post more helpful as regards getting rid of IOQuietWait at boot.......please tell readers which custom IOATAFamily.kext you used and where they can get it.......

Here is the IOATA.Family Kext which got me rid of QuietWAit ...

For the rest, I really don't know I tried almost everything I could and the only Kernel Capable of booting was AnV 1.4 with -f mode enable if I don't put that in .boot.plist I have a CPU Kernel Panic as it is unable to find ACPI Platform ...

But Thanks to your advice I tried to get more info on my config I understand that Bug... and I manage to boot my computer using this Method

DSDT Patcher + mkext.extension with Extra Directory created

Then I put ACPIPlatform.kext in the /Extra/Extensions as well as all my important modified kext

After that it boot without problem...strange ...maybe it was like that ACPIPlatform.kext is being updated when booting

I have good news, I have since reloaded my machine with iPC 10.5.6 final, loaded the voodoo 9.5 kernal, nforceATA chipset, nvdarwin 512mb, seatbelt, smbios rev 3 macpro, nforceLan 0.62.13n. All is working I have only had the unit lock on me once while I was adding all 40gb of music to itunes but other then that I was able to transfer over 2gbs of data over my network to the machine. Things are coming along well. My onlu question is why is it that my mouse is so jumpy? It will jump all over the place while I am using it also it will sometimes not click on certain things I will have to click it multiple times. ??????????????????????????

Try renaming (but especially if you have QT7.6 installed) AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext as AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext.bad using Terminal

cd /System/Library/Extensions/
ls
sudo mv AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext.bad
ls
exit

You can also try putting c1ramp=0 in com.apple.Boot.plist under Kernek Flags should renaming AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext does not fully resolve the problem......

See post #571.......try suggestions in order given.....AFIK your EVGA GeForce 280GTX graphics card will only have full CI/QE supported by OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) not even in 10.5.7.......so I assume you are running it in Vesa mode......see here.....
