;) No good, usb bus just crashed again, didn't see any debug info printed to screen when it happened..

not sure if it'll make any difference, but I just changed the "MAC Media Interface" in the BIOS, it was on "Pin-strap" before, I tried setting it to "MII", this resulted in no network connectivity at all in Leopard, and now its on "RGMII".

MII appears to limit the link speed to 100Mbps, nforcelan kext gave "code 0x10064"

RGMII is 1000Mbps, and nforcelan gave same code as Pin-Strap option "code 0x10032"

No debug message implies no kernel related problems......

You can also try MTU of 1000 instead of 1500.........and if you are not booting Windows try with HPET Disabled......

RGMII definitely didn't help, it just died again, with only 20 minute uptime, I did notice (I was watching a movie), that the sound got real low quality, after usb died

I tried disabling HPET once in BIOS, this resulted to really crappy performance in Leopard, even music was laggy/choppy

I will adjust the MTU now.

EDIT: when I try to adjust MTU to 1000, it automatically fills the textbox with 1482, will look around the kexts plist files to see if I can force it

From your signature are you running fake-hardware RAID via BIOS RAID.......AFIK OS X does not like this......so I presume you have RAID enabled in BIOS but disabled for the OS X 320GB SATA volume and 500GB SATA volume......

You need the nForceATA kext......

Does the freezing result in a kernel panic.....?

No, the freezing does not result in a kernel panic. Also, the two hard drives in soft-raid are unplugged. The raid controller is turned on in bios, but I shut off raid on all the ports.

OK......so what is the nature of the freezing......can you also describe what action typically precedes it......?

Thx for the quick reply verdant. I've tried the latest eno driver on XxX 10.5.6 with no luck. I havn't tried it on kalyway yet. I like kalyway more than 10.5.6 due to more apps running without -legacy flags which never helped me.

I'm trying eno's driver on 10.5.2, so far so good. /nforcekernel moved tr73.kext to kext.orig deleted mkext

waiting for crash with vuze/itunes running in background with cod4 foreground

Do you Lurk on IRC anywhere?

No I am not on IRC.......

I agree that Kalyway 10.5.2 is a good stable distro for most people......

Yo verdant. The New Eno Drive + MSI + 780 with proper bios settings + 10.5.2 installed properly = stable!!!

thanks so much! lol we're gonna DDOS/PACKETFLOOD u =P j/k

Now to Undo this stupid NVKush driver and Setup for Dual Cards with Efi Strings. I know how to setup Dual Cards with EFI strings if anyone needs help on 780i.

Method:

1) First Setup Your BIOS according to 780i table in Image

2) Y to TohKernel Only (Copy nforcekernel after clean boot with cpus=1)

3) Y to LastNetkasSmiBIOS and Y to Time Machine Fix ONLY in Patches!

4) Leave Defaults for AUDIO works for 780i (azalia audio)

5) Deselect all Network Packages

6) Select all Chipset Packages

7) No To Graphics Drivers (but NV inject 768 works fine on my 780i + 8800gtx, so it should work fine with most nvidia cards i'm guessing g80s and belows maybe g92s)

8) join me on irc.efnet.net #bonghits

VERDANT IS OUR SAVIOR. NOW EVERYONE DDOS AND PACKET/PING FLOOD HIM PLEASE.

His ip is: j/k

Aw......shucks...... BTW I am not on IRC because I do not have the time........as I am also going to be busy here.....if you are interested in updating at some point........

and thanks for offering your help to other readers for setting up Dual Cards with Efi Strings........

I am fully aware of the MacPro's capabilities, being a long-time "real" Mac owner........the MacPro needs EFI-capable GFX cards and running dual identical nVidia GFX cards is not without issues as shown here.....

Hence, if you check out the GFX card options for Apple Mac Pro, you can install up to 4 x ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB GFX cards but only 1 x NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB, or 1 x NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 1.5GB GFX card.....

As aqua-mac, Mysticus C* and myself have all said, MOBOs with nVidia chipsets, i.e. nForce chipsets, like your MOBO and mine do not generally work well, if at all, with dual nVidia GFX cards............in most, if not all cases, one of the nVidia GFX cards needs to be physically removed.....I am quite happy to be proven wrong on this.....

Thus, perhaps you will be able to help Metallic35 get dual 9500GT GFX cards running with full CI/QE under OS X......although AFIK the 9500 and 9600 are G94 and G96 cards, whereas the 9800gx2 and the 9800gtx, 8800gt, 8800gts are all G92 cards....... :(

Hi Guys,

I've been reading through all the posts in this forum today. I now have a much better understanding of what I need to do to get up and running. I had tried all weekend to install on a new computer using first iAtkos 5i(would freeze before install was getting SATA errors), then I tried leo4All v3 and was able to get into the installer. After formatting the HD the install would crash about 5 minutes in. I did not realize that the memory might be the culprit there. So will try booting with 'maxmem=2048'. If that fails I'll check and see how much RAM I can physically remove. I've also noticed that my MOBO is causing a lot of people grief. Unfortunately there is not a modded BIOS for my board. Tonight I am going to refer to the BIOS setup on from page#1 and see if that helps the installer get any farther. I've also downloaded Kalyway 10.5.2 and will try with that.

I will post back with reuslts, errors etc..

Thanks!

I've also just found that someone with an MSI P7N has installed 10.5.6 with iPC 10.5.6 DVD. I'm not sure if this will work without modding my BIOS but will give it a shot as well. Info on iPC here.

I've also just found that someone with an MSI P7N has installed 10.5.6 with iPC 10.5.6 DVD. I'm not sure if this will work without modding my BIOS but will give it a shot as well. Info on iPC here.

You can always contact OriginalMACNUT here to ask if he will mod your BIOS for you......

Thanks for posting details on setting up dual G80 GeForce 8800GTX GFX cards using EFI strings.......

Ok thanks I'll try asking the OriginalMACNUT for a mod :)

I couldn't get into the installer with Kalyway last night. Same thing with leo4all. So must have changed something in my BIOS they did not like. I tried with '-v' 'maxmem=2048' 'cpus=1'. I did install a Dynex gigabit ethernet card. Which I wouldn't think to create a problem getting to the installer. Going to try the new iPC 10.5.6 this evening.

You need to realise that you need to install the Vista bootloader onto the XP MBR in order to then use EasyBCD in XP to allow dual booting XP and OS X.......the link after EasyBCD shows you how to do that........

I am sorry But I really don't know how to install and where i can get Vista bootloader Is it whole Vista operating system?

This is from the link I posted for you earlier:

Ever since Windows Vista came out, a lot of hype has been going around the new bootloader. That's the hype that drove us to create EasyBCD, and that's the same hype that's been driving people to ask all around the web: "Is it possible to install the new Windows Vista bootloader on a non-Vista machine? Can I get XP to use the new Vista bootloader? How can I install the Vista bootloader on my XP-only machine?"

First, a disclaimer: In order to use the Vista bootloader, you'll need some licensed Vista files. The only legal way to get these is by already having Windows Vista legally installed on another machine and grabbing the files from there. Kapish? Second, the answer: Of course you can. And here's how!

  1. Go to a Vista machine and zip-up the C:\Windows\Boot\ folder.
  2. Extract those zipped files to the same location on your XP machine. (i.e. you should now have a C:\Windows\Boot\ folder on your XP machine, too).
  3. Download and install the latest version of EasyBCD.
  4. Run EasyBCD. When you first start it, it'll tell you what you already know: the Vista bootloader isn't installed! It'll ask if you want to repair it - (obviously) click yes.
  5. When prompted for the letter of a Vista drive, give it the same drive letter as your XP partition - the one you copied those files to earlier. When asked for the boot drive letter, give the letter of the drive with boot.ini and ntldr (most likely C:\).
  6. Let EasyBCD "repair" your bootloader and wait for it to finish.
  7. Once it's done, you'll have a (non-working) entry to boot into Windows Vista - delete it from the "Add/Remove Entries" screen and instead add a new entry for Windows XP.
  8. Reboot & Enjoy!

5 easy steps (never mind the numbering), and you'll have the Vista bootloader up and running in no time. What you do with it after that.... well, that's up to you.

with verdant's feedback and my previous experience, yesterday, we found a major breakthrough answer to FREEZE problems in official updates...

it is not caused by RAM... rather gfx drivers issue... Verdant will explain it later  Updates will be less of a pain from now on! However it will require nForce Fixed Gfx Update all the time! due to the nature of nvidia gfx drivers in os x...

cheers Mysticus C* (i dont exist anymore in my original account because of a server/database bug or someone accidently/purposely deleted my account!)

I've gotten my OSx86 10.5.6 Leopard installation on a EVGA nForce 750i SLI FTW working well, partially thanks to this thread.

It's a 3.0ghz Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, with 4gb of DDR2 ram (haven't checked if it works with over 3gb usage yet). It has a single nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX 512mb. It's running iDeneb 1.4 installed with a vanilla kernel, nvinject 512, azalia audio, mac pro smbios. I installed nForceLan later (included nforceEthernet causes kernel panics). Currently the only issue is that USB isn't working. I'm not sure how to resolve it with 10.5.6.

I would recommend installing the Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel and slice's USB2.0 Leopard kexts....see post #1 in this thread.....

What kernel have you got installed....? What audio kext have you installed....? What AppleSMBIOS did you choose....?

Audio: NO SELECTION initially

Chipset: AppleNForceATA

Kernel: 9.4.0 StageXNU (Intel/AMD/SSE2/SSE3)

Network: Ethernet: NO SELECTION initially

Fix: AppleSMBIOS: AppleSMBIOS-27-MP i.e. for Mac Pro

Video: NO SELECTION initially

Applications: Your choice

After installation boot with -v -f maxmem=2048.......report what happens......

You can install Realtek ALC888 kext afterwards, trying ALC888 kexts from here or here, as well as eno's nForceLAN kext for your Marvell 88E1116 onboard LAN chipsets, and for your EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR GeForce 9800 GTX(G92) 512MB from here or here or here.....

How you showed me I am sorry I install iPC OS 86 and i choose later kernel. And i also updated software
