BTW Do you mean 3072?

The IOATAFamily.kext is responsible for Serial ATA (SATA) and Parallel ATA (PATA) hardware connected to your MOBO, and IOATABlockStorage is a kext inside the Plugins folder inside the Contents folder of the IOATAFamily.kext......thus there is the possibility of a conflict between the IOATAFamily.kext and the AppleNForceATA.kext......suggest you try the IOATAFamily.kext from a 10.5.5 OS X Install DVD.......

i did mean 3072 that was a typo, and i installed the IOATAFamily.kext with the 10.5.6 dvd lol

Btw, OS X recognizes my processor as a 200mhz processor. Idk if that is significant. I am using menu meters and they are showing all 4 cores working, but it is recognized wrong for some reason. Idk if that has anything to do with the panic?

Which AppleSMBIOS did you choose?

Try installing the two kexts from here after renaming your present IOATAFamily.kext to IOATAFamily.kext.orig......

I didn't choose an AppleSMBIOS :/ is that the problem?

Yes.........I thought you had followed my iPC install guide in my blog except for the video, network and audio drivers......

iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Base System (installed by default with AppleDecrypt.kext and Disabler.kext)

Language Translations - Your choice

iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Intel AMD SSE2 SSE3

Kernels - 9.5.0 Voodoo Kernel

Drivers - Video Drivers - To suit your GFX card

Drivers - Chipset Drivers - AppleNForceATA (slashack's modded MeDevil nForceATA kext)

Drivers - Audio Drivers - Your choice

Drivers - Ethernet Drivers - Your choice

Drivers - USB Drivers - Patched USB Drivers

Fixes and Patches - Seatbelt.kext 10.5.5 (must be installed if Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel is installed)

Fixes and Patches - AppleSMBIOS Patch - AppleSMBIOS-27 Rev3 Mac Pro

Applications - Your choice but do not select Marvin's AMD Utility

what could be causing usb to randomly lockup? system runs fine for sometimes 2 days at a time, and then all of a sudden usb totally dies... using iPC 10.5.6 [ppf5], using the usb fix, tried the leopard 2.0 drivers by slice, but still can't get stability..

using bios settings as suggested by guide on page1

full specs:

evga 123-yw-e175 nforce 750i

intel core 2 quad q6600 [3.15ghz oc]

4gb ddr2-1066 mhz ram [using nforceata fixed for 4gb ram]

nvidia 8800 gtx [nvdarwin1.2.5]

Are you using a USB keyboard and a USB mouse?........Please give more detail on what precedes the USB lockup........is it just USB that stops working?.......if just USB, explain how it stops working.......or do you get a system freeze/kernel panic........

Yeah, using a usb keyboard, and usb mouse, I can't reproduce it at will, so I cant say what precedes it, when it "stops working", the rest of the system is still responsive, no panics, no other freezes, just the USB bus totally dies, I can't plug anything in, can't unplug and replug mouse/keyboard, i must hit the Reset switch at this point.

A. Modify your modify com.apple.Boot.plist file as follows:

1. Go to the Terminal, and at the $ prompt, type in

sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

2. Enter your password when requested. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to move the cursor within the Terminal window.

3. Type in (without any spaces anywhere except where there are spaces) the needed missing lines:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>-v debug=0x144</string>

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>5</string>

</dict>

</plist>

4. Move the cursor the Terminal window down until it no longer moves, then press Ctrl O and then Enter, to save the modified com.apple.Boot.plist file.

5. Press Ctrl X to Exit and type "exit" at the $ prompt to log out of the Terminal and then close and quit Terminal.

then post the debug screen if it shows when the USB bus "freezes".......

B. I presume you are using onboard LAN........the other possibility is port conflicts between USB and onboard LAN (Ethernet) since both are controlled by the nVidia MCP......check out this thread.......

yeah, using onboard lan, with 10.5.5 (iDeneb) this same crash happened, and the system NEVER remained stable for more than 1 hour, its strange that with 10.5.6 (iPC) its lasting up to 2 days...

i added the debug kernel flag, will see what happens now

Are you yet using eno's latest nForceLan.kext [0.62.12n].....?

yup, thats the driver i'm using

If you let me have the Vendor / Device IDs for your 750i MCP51 Southbridge chipset, I can add it to my modified version of eno's last beta / pre-Release nForceLAN.kext onboard LAN driver (0.62.7n beta_osx) for nForce MOBOs, which currently explicitly includes the nVidia MCP55 Ethernet/Marvell 88E1116 LAN chipset Vendor:Device ID of 10de:0373 in Info.plist (according to eno 0x037210de&0xfffeffff apparently matches both 0x037210de and 0x037310de but the masked IDs don't always match)........or you can do it yourself......

Is this what you're looking for?

nForceLAN: found nVidia MCP51 Ethernet Controller device 10de:0269 with flags 0x0000030b

Yes I will check if it is present and if not then add it, and PM you.......

Ahh, the connection dropped (lasted about 2 and a half hours) :)

just unloaded the kext and reloaded the one i was using before, and its up again

EDIT: i also have 2 different RTL 8139s, but with those, the network totally drops just like it did with this nforcelan version, can't even ping the router. nothing wants to work perfectly >.<

It show how to dual vista and windows. Could you explain in detail how to do windows and Mac pleeeaaase!!!! Thank you

You need to realise that you need to install the Vista bootloader onto the XP MBR in order to then use EasyBCD in XP to allow dual booting XP and OS X.......the link after EasyBCD shows you how to do that........

Sorry to hear of your problems.....try these modified USB settings in BIOS:

OnChip USB [V1.1+V2.0]

USB Keyboard/Storage Support [Enabled]

USB Mouse Support [Enabled]

USB Park Mode [Disabled]

USB TD Reads [non-ISO Queue]

USB Periodic Data Reads [non-ISO Queue]

USB Asyn Data Reads [non-ISO Queue]

Re RTL 8139, there are issues with the RTL8139 and Leopard, even on "real" Macs......see here.......
