I have managed to get everything working except the graphics. I don't know why but I can't change my resolution and when I drag windows it trails and messes everything up. It's really weird.

1. Getting full CI/QE on your 9500GT GFX card when running 10.5.6 :

See thread here......

2. If you cannot change screen resolutions on the fly (i.e. without getting a blue screen and needing to restart with the new screen resolution) :

Move your monitor cable on to the graphics card connector port closest to the MOBO graphics card slot....unless it is already there.......in which case, switch to the further away connector port......

I figured out what the problem is. When i use osx86 tools to add the EFI string, I do everything they instruct to do. However, when it comes to actually add it to the boot string, it says that it can't be found and gives me an error. How do I fix this?

Try downloading OSx86Tools directly onto your Desktop, unzipping and running it from there.........rather from a folder (e.g. Downloads) in another directory or on another volume......

EDIT : Re your PM and random crashes, Under what circumstances of use have you been getting crashes......?

Suggest you modify the com.apple.Boot.plist file as follows:

1. Go to the Terminal, and at the $ prompt, type in

sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

2. Enter your password when requested. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to move the cursor within the Terminal window.

3. Type in (without any spaces anywhere except where there are spaces) the lines in blue:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>-v debug=0x144</string>

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>5</string>

</dict>

</plist>

4. Move the cursor the Terminal window down until it no longer moves, then press Ctrl O and then Enter, to save the modified com.apple.Boot.plist file.

5. Press Ctrl X to Exit and type "exit" at the $ prompt to log out of the Terminal and then close and quit Terminal.

Thus, when your system has a kernel panic it will hopefully show up a panic screen that you can post here for us to see what the cause(s) may be....

BTW are you using eno's latest nForceLAN.kext [0.62.12n] because AFIK the version in iPC Final or PPF5 versions is an earlier kext......

I am using the iPC nforceLAN option under the ethernet tab.

I did what you said with osx86 tools and it worked! The only problem now is it bricked my system! Every time i boot up it gives me the restart gray screen. I booted in verbose to see the error. It reports some like 10 line crash and the does this:

AppleNForceATA: found 0 units

Feb 20 18:07:33 robbies-132-yw-e178-ftw kextd[10]: IOKitWaitQuiet() timed out waiting to write kernel symbols

If you get to the line above you should be OK normally.......what happens when you wait after this line, do any more error messages appear...?

Gotta go now......more time later........

no it just freezes. That's only after I add the EFI string for some reason. I did it just like they said. Go to the graphics thing in osx86 tools, custom GeForce, type in nVidia GeForce 9500GT, select 1024mb, select DVI/DVI. Idk what is wrong. The operating system recognizes that the 2 cards are plugged in when i go into the system profiler, but it just says they are unknown. It just registers them as outputs i think, but it's not hardware accelerating or anything. Can't change my resolution, and when I drag windows they get really messed up (can't really explain better than that). Idk if I'm doing something wrong maybe?

If you have got 2 nVidia GFX cards installled.......remove one of them.......or try aqua-mac's procedure here but note that he says

THIS MAY NOT WORK ON MOTHERBOARDS WITH NVIDIA CHIPSETS!

aquamac: 01/06/08

modified: 10/11/08

FOOTNOTE: On Gigabyte and some other boards, you will need to set your bios to boot from PEG2 and put your main card in the second PCIe slot. Failure to do this will result in a kernel panic or your system will hang at the blue boot screen.

I actually already tried that one. I don't think it should matter that I have 2 gfx cards tho because mac offers the mac pro with up to 4 cards, and I've seen other hackintosh users with dual cards...

I am fully aware of the MacPro's capabilities, being a long-time "real" Mac owner........the MacPro needs EFI-capable GFX cards and running dual identical nVidia GFX cards is not without issues as shown here.....

Hence, if you check out the GFX card options for Apple Mac Pro, you can install up to 4 x ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB GFX cards but only 1 x NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB, or 1 x NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 1.5GB GFX card.....

As aqua-mac, Mysticus C* and myself have all said, MOBOs with nVidia chipsets, i.e. nForce chipsets, like your MOBO and mine do not generally work well, if at all, with dual nVidia GFX cards............in most, if not all cases, one of the nVidia GFX cards needs to be physically removed.....I am quite happy to be proven wrong on this.....

Perhaps you will be able to get dual 9500GT GFX cards running with full CI/QE under OS X......AFIK the 9500 and 9600 are G94 and G96 cards, while the 9800gx2 and the 9800gtx, 8800gt, 8800gts are all G92 cards.......

Umm, this is my first time trying to install OSX on my PC, however i read at the beginning of this thread that the first thing to do was to list your hardware, software, and then issue, so, here goes:

EVGA nForce 750i SLI MN: 123-YW-E175

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz stock, OC'd to 3.00GHz

XFX GeForce 8800GTX 768MB

8 gigs of Wintec gaming memory (i forget the model and such)

HP LightScribe DVD +/- RW

SATA HDD, its a WD SATA II 80GB, its the primary HDD and the one I have OSX installed on

software wise, i am using iDeneb 1.4 10.5.6

i honestly can't remember what selections i made this time around on the install, but i know that i switched from the default kernel to the VooDoo one, i selected the AC97 audio (which clearly wasnt correct), and i selected the closest matching one of anything that had nForce in it, and i beleive i used nVDarwin for my graphics drivers

OSX finally installed and booted/boots up now, that is a major step in my book, my Graphics card, processor, memory, ACPI capabilities, optical drive, USB Keyboard, USB Mouse, and monitor are all properly detected and operational

things that are not working are as follows:

USB, other than the two ports that my keyboard and mouse take up all the others are magically different than those two and thus don't work, at all

Ethernet, i am pretty sure i selected the nForceLan thing during the install, and it does detect my ethernet, to some extent, and it will connect to my Router, but it get no DNS and the kernel panics every time i try opening up safari or doing anything else that actually uses the NIC, sorry i don't have a camera or i'd get a pic of that, and i am using the motherboards integrated ethernet, whatever that is

Audio, OSX isnt even detecting any input or output devices, like i said, i selected the AC97 audio which was clearly the wrong choice, i don't however know what the right choice is

so, from what i see, once i get the right pkg's, kexts, or whatever else, the only way i have to install them is to burn them to a disc, which eats up a CD-R, not a big deal, but i want to make sure i get the right stuff to install the first time so i'm not just burning up discs

thank you all in advance for any and all help, if i need to re-install that's fine too, just let me know which selections to make at the customize screen to get things working properly, i tried finding a list of which ones to select on my own and couldnt

You should not have to reset BIOS settings to defaults......but make sure that in BIOS

that the Primary Display Adapter is set correctly for your graphics card i.e. PCI or PCI-E.....

Check that you have have removed NVdarwin.kext after installing NVinject.kext.......having both kexts in Extensions directory and hence loaded I have found causes the symptoms you describe.....

As for getting full CI/QE......have you tried running NVinstaller v.52.pkg......?

Haw to do dual boot windows xp x64 pro and Mac ? From the start it does not see sometimesthe HDD with Mac. Tahnk you. You the best

AFIK your audio chipset codec is the ALC888S......see here......

For installing kexts, use Kext Helper b7 or OSx86Tools.......

For USB see post #1 in my thread for Slice's USB2.0 kexts for Leopard that you can download here.....

For nForceLAN to work, you need to have installed the latest version from here and the Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel from here.......

alright, network is working because i had the iDeneb ISO on another HDD that was in the machine and was able to open it up and install, from the ISO, the proper pkg for the network and for audio

however, after getting those two things working and connecting to the internet, the first thing i did in Safari was went to mozilla and downloaded FF, at the end of the download process the kernel panics, the BSD process name is "diskimages-helpe"

i thought it might just be because i am downloading firefox, its not, it happens with all downloads, and not until the end of the download

any idea what's causing this?

and once again, thanks for your help on the previous issue and i will let you know how the USB fix goes once i figure out this crashing issue

Check that the Seatbelt.kext and System.kext versions match the Kernel version.......

It show how to do vista and windows Could you explane in detail how to do with os Thanks again

If you do not have legal access to a PC with Vista installed, then follow the procedure for multi-booting here.....

If the PC has Windows XP installed, get this tboot http://www.digitmemo.com/files/tboot.zip(512 bytes only, a revised version of chain0 loader, support multi HDD as well as loading OSX on extended partition) file and put it to the same directory as ntldr(usually C:\), adding the following line to boot.ini c:\tboot="Mac OSX Leopard"

For kernel, go to Terminal and type uname -a

For System.kext, go to /System/Library/Extensions and right-click on System.kext and select "Show Package Contents" and click......then right-click on Info.plist and select "Open With"......and see what is listed under CFBundleVersion.....

For seatbelt.kext, go to /System/Library/Extensions and right-click on System.kext and select "Show Package Contents" and click......then opent Contents folder and right-click on Version.plist and select "Open With"......and see what is listed under "BuildVersion".....is it 14 or what?

Alright verdant this is the screenshot of the error. I attached the jpg file. It occurred this time while trying to install xcode. I also found that it occurs when trying to stream videos (e.g. trying to watch an episode of the tv show "Chuck" on nbc.com) I received the same thing

BTW Do you mean 3072?

The IOATAFamily.kext is responsible for Serial ATA (SATA) and Parallel ATA (PATA) hardware connected to your MOBO, and IOATABlockStorage is a kext inside the Plugins folder inside the Contents folder of the IOATAFamily.kext......thus there is the possibility of a conflict between the IOATAFamily.kext and the AppleNForceATA.kext......suggest you try the IOATAFamily.kext from a 10.5.5 OS X Install DVD.......
