that's how i installed it. that is the guide i used, but once i update to the 10.5.4 the keyboard and mouse stop working. im thinking of staying under the 10.5.2 and trying to install the drivers for the wifi and other stuff. the battery meter works under 10.5.2 and gets messed up when i update to 10.5.4

no i did not need an external monitor every now and then i get a white screan with some lines going down.

chun nad keyboard drivers? this

ok so here is what i did.

i reinstalled 10.5.2 and the keyboard is working along with the mouse pad. how can i back up the appropriate .kext so that when i updat to 10.5.4 i wont loose the keyboard and mouse?

the ethernet is working but not the wifi. i went to the .plist and tried to add the <string> but could not find the rest of the <string> group. does the update add more strings?

Audio not working i had it working before but no volume controll

my keys above the keyboard dont work either the eject,v+,v-,play, etc.

i dont mind staying at 10.5.2 if i can get everything to work properly

thanx

ok

so i backup the extensions and now how do i know what controls what?

also what determines the battery meter? when i updated to the 10.5.4 the batter went away

sorry for the double post

sorry for the double post

im thinking of just staying under the 10.5.2 for now

im going to try it and see how it runs

thanks for the help and ill get back

edit

how do i know which ones are the ones for the mouse or keyboard?

do i replace all that say "PS2" in them?

theres also other .kext that say "mouse" and another that says "keyboard" are these it too?

ok so i did that and it did not work.

so here is what i did.

i installed Kalyway 10.5.2

-Kernal_Vanilla_92

-Patches

--Hardcoded_SMBIOS

---AppleSMBIOS-27-MB

--PowerManagemet_bundle

did not update to 10.5.4 combo update

i installed the Leopard Graphics Update 1.0 using Pacifist

reboot

Installed bcm43xx_enabler_0.5.1pre for the drivers

reboot (pop up new hardware press apply or it will not work)

installed the TARUGA driver

reboot

copy the AppleHDA.kext to /System/Library/Extensions/ (dont skip this step or you wont have control of the volume)

reboot

and done.

now the only things that i need to find are:

the Eject button above the keyboard does not work

the card reader

Mic does not work it shows up as a device but cant seem to get it to work

i read that to use the "pccarder" but i cant find it. when i google this is the only site that comes up. can some one direct me to where its at?

one other thing that happens is when i restart or go back to windows i have time messedup it changes to AM from PM or the time changes completely. Has this happened to some of you guys?

thanx

I have chameleon dfe, 10.5.4 running on my 1510

with the following:

Core 2 duo 1.8GHz

ALC 268 sound- was working yestereday

keyboard/trackpad- working

battery- working

restart- working

sleep- mouse cursor gets funky

shutdown- need to hold button down after screen goes black for it to shutdown

256mb nvidia 8400m gs- QE/CI not working

Does anybody have this graphics card? And have you gotten it to work? I've used nvinstallers, nvkush, nvinject, nvinjectgo, nothing will a) properly recognize the graphics card as a 8400m gs and QE/CI just does not work. Right now I'm trying to manually install the 8400m, seeing as this seems to be the only way to get it to work. Nope, got the black screen now.

Hey all vostro 1510 users...this is an awesome laptop..near perfect to a genuine Macbook. I had Toshiba Sat M300 (Fusion plus series) but its GPU wasnt working so bought this one. Below is the stats of my near perfect Hackbook:

i hv 10.5.6 installed...updated from iAtkos 10.5.4 ( Used stock things no problem)

(None of the following had any noticeable effect of the performance)

Working: ;)

Bootloader - Chameleon 2.0.x beta with graphics...awesome!!!

CI/QE - OOB

Audio except internal mic (external works)

Wifi - detected as Airport (just used IO80211Family.kext)

Bluetooth

Keyboard/touchpad - has to used Nub after updating to 5.6; touch pad is detected as mouse only. tried touchpad drivers bt disappear after restart

USB - all working fine (1 TB ex-hddisk also working smooth)

WebCam

FireWire - detected at speed upto 400Mbps

External Display - Yes (bt not in the Mirror Display settings)

SuperDrive - Works for DVD +- writing

Battery - Working with powermanagement10.5.3 - but sucks it up real fast (1: 45 hrs)

Card reader - IOPCMCIAFamily.kext by chunnan. screen shot attached

Ethernet Realtek 8111C- only worked at 10baseT/UTP (without any driver) very slow on network transfers (in Kbps). Used R1000_1.8.1.kext from psystar...works awesome in automatic mode (upto 50Mbps)..note: R1000_1.04 won't work.

TimeZone - Sync b/w windows and Mac. (How to in the end)

Not - working/Issues:

Restart/shutdown takes a lot of time (around 1 min) after the screen goes blank

sleep - NW

Internal mic

Multitouch touchpad - ppl this is possible but not sure how to do it. There are some guides here on insanelymac.

Time Zone How to:

1. In windows registry go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation

2. Create new DWORD named "RealTimeIsUniversal" (No quotes). Set the value to "1". 1 is same in Hexidecimal and Decimal.

3. Set time and zone in windows. Reboot and set time and zone in Mac.

Lemme know if anybody can help with any of the "issues" or needs help with any. I can upload things to mediafire, if required.

Just a cliche suggestion:

In keyboard preferences, you can swap your control and command key. This will make your ctrl as command and things will work like windows.

Lets make it a near perfect Hackbook!!!

Long time since this thread was updated... Anyhow, I've got 10.6 running quite well on my Dell Vostro 1510.

My spec is:

Intel Core 2 duo T8100 (pretty sure it's T8100)

2 GB RAM

NVIDIA® GeForce 8400M GS (64 bit) Graphic Card

Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini Card Wireless

I followed Jason Parks' guide, you can find it here. This guide was very useful, though I had to make some changes to the process, I didn't use the snowboot provided there, I used a chameleon boot loader on top of an SL installation usb thumb. I won't specify the entire installation process since it was LONG, I might post some notes to the guide above.

What's not working:

WiFi indicator - though wifi works great

some keyboard features, such as numlock

for some odd reason the graphics got a lot clunkier after I've installed ubuntu 10.04 (in a separate partition ofc)

Everything else I can think of pretty much works. As mentioned I have yet to try the sleep function and I don't use BT so I didn't try that out too.

Hope this helps, and good luck with your system :)
