I will definitely do that - I'm in the middle of converting a movie to AVI but right after I will try that. Hopefully I don't need to f*** with it and find any kexts for the pci card by dlink.

Also, another troubleshooting thing I thought of was using another torrent client for torrentz and seeing if that does anything. I'm still new to Mac - any other torrent clients out there for mac?

NVM - i read the article from TUAW that was give to me and they show Azereus - I'll try that out right now.

Okay I'm 15 minutes in to downloading a torrent with Azereus and everything is working fine (I tried this first instead of putting in my pci card) so I'm on my onboard lan and downloading...... working good. I'll update soon.

Thanks

Alright well I got too excited. I lost internet connectivity pretty fast after I posted that. Now I'm using my PCI card so I'm going to start a torrent on this and see if Eno is right.

Hey guys,

So I just got kicked off using my PCI card as well but there is a big difference in what happened.

With the onboard lan - i use osx fine until I turn on transmission (and azereus), after a few minutes I get a 169 address and my switch drops everyone on it (my brother's PC too) until I reboot everything.

With the PCI card - I use osx fine until I turn on transmission (and azereus), and a few a few minutes my sound, keyboard and mouse stop working but I still see the downloading going fine and my adium people logging in and out. Then I notice adium freezes and after a few seconds I see the download stops working too. Now everything seems like it has frozen so I restart and everything works fine again (switch did not drop anyone).

Wtf...... ?

I am not sure why you are seeing additional problems with your PCI NIC. Perhaps is shares line interrupts with your onboard USB.

Anyway, transmission works fine with my MCP55 and MCP79 :-/ . Perhaps your router is having problems? Can you try using transmission and nForceLAN when connected directly to your cable modem?

The driver should work with any kernel (iI have tested it with both Voodoo and vanilla kernels) but VooDoo XNU is recommended for AMD machines.

Are you getting the same kernel panic with iPC that you got with iDeneb + Voodoo?

yes... kernel panic the same... but during installing IPC i choose last time only Stage KNU kernel 9.4.0.... after system dont load with the same Voodoo kernel panic )))) it is mysticism))) after hdd format))) and in iDeneb, when i choose Stage KNU kernel 9.4.0, system load good!!! Any ideas? :( Thank you!!!

Just wanted to say that this version 0.62.7.kext.zip worked for my asus a8nsli mobo running iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5

LAN was the only thing I had been missing.

Very happy.

I simply ran OSX86Tools - Install Kexts - select 0.62.7 kext(i burned it to cd using a different computer) - restart and voila!!

Beautiful.

So I currently have OSX running on a SATA drive, installed from a SATA dvd burner with an old Nvidia 7600GT(QE and CI both seem to be running.

This was much easier than a previous install of JAS(sorry dont remember the version) LAN worked with that one straight away but getting QE/CI to work was quite the excercise.

Anyways, thanks much

got 0.62.7n and my amd x2 is downloading 10.5.6 combo update w/o a glitch.

before this I was using forcedeth 1.0.0d2 and always got KP w/voodoo kernel when leaving the sys boot w/o cpus= option, now I'm just very glad you managed to get both cores running.

thanks.

First of all, thanks for your efforts, eno!

Now the problem: my PC's still having a problem with version 0.62.7 regardless of HPET. Two things can occur in about 2 hours: if I'm watching a video using VLC, it just freezes, if I do anything else (I mean surfing, gaming, or just downloading), then my USB ports and ethernet stop working, so my mouse and my keyboard becomes useless, too.

Anyways, I'm back to 0.62.6n with HPET off and OptimizationMode on 0: this way my OS X works perfectly.

P.S.: Specs and OS ver. in sig.

Was getting desperate, saw a couple people got this to work with the MCP61, so i tried it, and it works!

lspci: nVidia Corporation MCP61 Ethernet [10de:03ef] (rev a2)

(RTL8201CL - 10/100 PHY Lan)

On mobo: Biostar NF520-A2 nForce 520LE Chipset (MCP61)

Haven't done any heavy testing yet but so far so good. I can't thank you enough.

I can finally take out that random lan card I found which was taking up a pci slot.

Hello everyone and a happy new year!!

I have a problem with the driver.

The lan card is recognized and i can assign the manual ip.I cannot get on line unless if i take out the power cable from my pc (after i shutdown) and the Ethernet cable.

Then i can connect for about 2-4 minutes or some download bytes and after i get the kernel panic attack!

I upload the voodoo kernel message so someone can help me.

i've been using the march_kernel and i was having this problem after installing the Voodoo_Kernel_Release_1.0_Rev_A.dmg and turning off the cool and quite option in the motherboard the problem is still there.

The version of drivers for my on board lan that i installed is the 0.62.8n.

Thanks in advanced and sorry for my English.. :)

p.s. How can i find the id of the lan device so i can search for more informations to how to fix this?

GreeceDimitris: Looks like you need to trash forcedeth.kext(s) from /System/Library/Extensions

eno: You latest driver works on my system 100% stable. I still can't believe all 4 cores are running. Thanks so much!! (Read my signature for clues. I believe 10.5.6 and Voodoo Kernel has helped with my nForce hardware stability.)

Hmm, your MAC does not start with 00: which is a little weird. Did you try removing the power for 30 seconds to reset the MAC?

Have you ever had any problems with the NIC under Windows?

There shouldn't be any speed issues. I tested the connection between by MCP55 and MCP79 both using nForceLAN with optimization mode 1 and got up to 980 Mbits/sec using /dev/zero to /dev/null to disk access.

Off the internet I have seen > 16 Mbit/sec with optimization mode 0. I don't have a CK804 to test but I will do some more speed tests to see if there are any problems.

I am not sure what tiogadriver does (don't see it on my MBP). You could try to move it out of the system (use find / -name tiogadriver to locate it) and see if that fixes the problem.

If moving that program doesn't fix the problem you can find the original kernel in the root filesystem. I expect it is named something along the lines of mach_kernel.orig. You can then reinstall the old kernel by booting into single user mode and typing:

mount -o rw /

mv mach_kernel.orig mach_kernel

Hopefully we can find and fix this problem.

Voodoo XNU is an absolute necessity for those with AMD processors. My machine was completely unstable (GA-M59SLI-S5 with X2 4600+) until I installed it. You can find Voodoo XNU here: http://code.google.com/p/xnu-dev/downloads/list

It is a standard macos .pkg so it is easy to install. Let me know if you still have problems

Well, I tried installing Voodoo on my 10.5.2 Kalyway installation, but my computer just didn't start OS X after that. Is 10.5.5 a pre-requisite for the Voodoo kernel?

What error do you get (boot with -v).

I did thrash forcedeth and nforce from /System/Library/Extensions

Then i install the nForceLAN o.62.8. with the help of the Kext Helper and it worked as far..

I have downloaded 2gb and didnt crashed at all...with 2 cpu.

Finally i'm free!!!!

forcedeth kext i dont install ))) after install latest driver, gives out a tablet on different languages Restart or Press Power on that such

start in safe mode (-x) and remove the forcedeth.kext nForceLAN.kext or any other driver for your lan.

Then remove the extensions.kext and reboot.

Use only one driver at the time and istall it with the kext helper.

Good luck.
