Swad
Due to its incredible popularity over the past few weeks, we decided that the Macintel Dual Booting forum needed it’s own place on the main forum page… hence the change from a subforum to a forum in its own right. But while making the change, I couldn’t decide whether to call it the “Mactel” or “Macintel” or “Intel Mac” forum. I’m partial to Macintel since it sounds more like Macintosh and Mactel just sounds so ungraceful. I'm curious to know what OSx86 Nation thinks about this. Which do you prefer? Let us know here! Cacicia
There are PPC Macs and Intel Macs... don't call them in any other way :D
EgoDeath
Right from the start I have been calling it my Macintel, just seems right... I dont wanna call it an intel mac, because i should be getting a MBP soon.. (and then this baby will be demoted to a hackintosh hehe)
forcer
I think that If there is wintel, there should me mactel.
mk14
Mactel sounds like it's some kind of phone... Macintel sounds like you forgot to push the spacebar... Also, what sense does it make to put the adjective (Intel) after the noun (Mac)? So, I prefer Intel-Mac.
Zappadoc
Sorry don't agree with all choice... MacTel was an old Term software... so I prefer MACOSX86 Cheers! Z ps:MacUniversal will be acceptable...
Velvet Nightmare
Do not call them either. Leave them as Narf and Blanka intended, as Xoms, most of the people that I know have already adopted this.
Swad
Velvet, those are just for people talking about dual booting. XOM seems to be like how most people use "OSx86." I'm asking about the actual computers. lol - although I do like the MacUniversal idea since they're quickly becoming that...
Caslon
I would perfer that the name be the same shared length. Mac and Tel are even. Mac Intel gives Intel their entire name in our nick name. Not fair to the all powerful Macintosh. Mactel is best....
Sabr
I much prefer Macintel out of them all... It sounds just right, and sounds more like Macintosh...
Guest goodtime
My Intel Mac is not made by Apple, but the Motherboard and Processor is made by Intel. The only thing Apple about my Intel Mac is it runs Tiger OS X 10.4.5 (Intel) and has two white Apple stickers on it. Since OS is not licensed by Apple, I don't feel comfortable calling dual boot machine Mactel or Macintel. My Intel Mac underneath to me is more Intel than Mac. Only the software is Apple, not the physical hardware. I prefer calling this hardware an Intel Mac. gt

Cyman
For me, Mactel sounds as ugly as MacBook Pro. I wish they would have chosen a better name than this. I don't know what but just better then MBP. BTW, I voted for Macintel which sounds much better in my opinion.
Swad
After thinking about it, I'm going to change the title of the Dual Booting forum to "Mac Dual Booting." It's the lowest common denominator. But it's great to hear what you call it! Keep it going!
FullMetal
I guesss Mac Dual Booting is also good.

quixos
Mac Dual Booting, says what it is, and is there anything wrong with that? good choice. MacIntel is the official search term at VersionTracker.com for unibins. f.y.i. MacTel is going to be useful in future, after Apple starts it's phone service. yep, i betcha. Adorettic
Call it an "Intac" For Intel Mac. It would be better as Mactel is confusing to all those who originally used it for PCS running OS x. P.S. Lawler Skates
Pu7o
I believe the correct term is "Intel-based Mac".
randomblame
If the snozberries taste like snozberries they are snozberries. they're macs damnit who cares what cpu is in them? Who goes to this forum for info about PPC macs anyways?
munky
my unofficial intel mac will always be my hackintosh, due to the requirement of hacks to get it to work. im going to buy a macbook (ibook replacement) as soon as they're available. what will i call it? why, my macbook of course. i think mactel and macintel both sound dumb, but if i was forced to use one i'd choose the latter.
