I have installed 10.4.5 n a medion laptop with a chipset 645DX and i have 2 big trouble:

* Hd very low due to no UDMA but due to the sis chipset unable to force to use AppleIntelPIIXATA

* No sound even with AppleAC97Audio (SIS 7012) even by adding 0x70121038 in the Info.list

Please if someone with a sis chipset sucess to have sound and/or hd fast !!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got similar problems as you do. If you can understand and work with the unix commands (?), maybe you could have a look at XFree86 v4.5.0 to see whether it can be incorporated into the system?? I know it supports SIS chipsets. There was also mention of OSX on the site I believe...

I have no idea about the languague used in OSX so I am also looking for people who might be able to try this out for me!!

Thanks!!

SiS 7012!

http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=16404

look here, it will work if you read the thread, from roughly page 3 onward.

follow what robin1973 says his quick simple guide worked for my audio device, you need to download that sis7012.zip located in this thread.... somewhere (last pages)

Hopefully this helps

North Bridge Controller SiS651 Host

South Bridge SiS962L MuTLOL Media I/O

Vendor 1039

Device ID 5513 IDE UDMA Controller

Mother board Asus P4S533-MX

I've been trying everyones different methods for more than a year and I've never been able to get past the "Still waiting for root device" in the installation screen.

Other than the motherboard, all the hardware I have in this case works and is recogcause. I swapped this board for an AsRock P4i65G intel board and OSX 10.4.6 installed without a hitch.

Good luck

Development on a driver for SiS ATA is in development. One of the things holding back progress is device and vendor id's along with proper timing values for UDMA.

hi bikedude880!

i was checking some of your older posts about coding a SIS chipset driver.

but all the links are dead. what happened to the project?

this driver (in my case the SIS651) would be very helpful!

all the best!
