bLURRIE
Sorry to bother you guys once again. But after countless hours of work for nothing i thought asking would work alot better. I have first tried iAtkos v4i, boots without any problems at all with all the boot options (nforce_core, toh etc.). Just that the disk utility cannot find any drive at all! So i rebooted and checked again and i got an error message from AppleNforceATA saying that phy connection failed and that there are 0 units found. Since the drive i'm wanting to use for mac is a ATA drive it's pretty logical. I tried all sorts of stuff, booting with -v -f cpus=1 gives me a waiting for root device, so that doesn't bring me any further. I just tried JaS 10.5.4 but that doesn't detect my drive either. It not even detects my SATA drive which i connected just to test. It sees absolutely nothing. To top it off i don't see any AppleNforceATA errors, hell I don't even see AppleNforceATA at all, seems it isn't even used.. My specs: Motherboard: Asus P5N-E SLI Nforce 650i SLI Processor: Intel Q6600 B3 (@ 1.4v +100) RAM: Corsair PC2-6400 x3 (3GB RAM) VISTA DRIVE: 500GB Seagate SATA MAC DRIVE: 160GB Western Digital ATA DVD DRIVE: Samsung Writemaster USB Videocard: Nvidia Geforce 8800GTX Onboard Sound Onboard Network. Note: I've seen the P5N-E SLI guide, but it doesnt help me, tried everything there, including setting all the bios options like disabling the Jmicron Sata Controller. They don't change anything. I'm quite at a loss here and i'm almost turning crazy, if anyone can lend me a help with this i'd be really happy and most of all honored If i need to use another Leopard DVD, please tell me which one I should use. Thanks alot for the help in advance! Greetings, bLURRIE Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/121784-nforce-650i-sli-problems/ Share on other sites

Greetings, bLURRIE So just to confirm, I assume you are saying that you have JMicron SATA / PATA Controller [Disabled] JMicron Controller Mode [AHCI] Execute Disable Bit [Enabled] ACPI APIC Support [Enabled] ACPI Suspend Mode [s3] or [s1] or [s1 and S3] and that your IDE (PATA) drive is set to MASTER, and that all USB modes (legacy, USB 2.0 etc.) are enabled in BIOS for your external USB 2.0 DVDRW drive..... if that is so, then boot from the iATKOS DVD using at the Boot: prompt "cpus=1 maxmem=2048 -v" (without quotes obviously).......and do not install any video or audio drivers and 3rd party apps from the DVD...... bLURRIE
Thanks for the reply! I have those settings set! Just that my bios does not let me allow to pick the Controller Mode, though i heard it's standard on AHCI now. Mine doesn't say PATA though, just SATA, Hmm legacy was off, that could fix it. Thanks for the tips, i'll be right back and tell you if it worked or not, if it worked it'll take some longer! Thanks again! EDIT: I've tried it but it gives me a waiting for root device error. When i did not use cpus=1 and with nforce_core (so: nforce_core maxmem=2048 -v) i got further, it said it found 1 unit(must be my vista sata i guess) then it got a phy connection failed and then it said found 0 units, then for the first time it said some stuff about AppleNforceATA by MeDevil etc. Then it said it couldnt mount disk0s1 and disk0s5, and then nothing happened and my dvd drive stopped spinning and it wouldn't open anymore so i guess it went to sleep. Another suggestion.....it may sound weird......but gently (slowly and smoothly) move pointer i.e. mouse about every 3 to 4 miniutes during the DVD OS X install phase......and as I say do a minimal install with no video, audio and 3rd party software options selected initially..... Well I can't even come into the Installation because my pc throws in the the towel right after the diskarbitrationd saying he cant mount disk0s1 and disk0s5. This is with moving my mouse, after like 3 minutes my dvd player just doesn't do anything at all, it won't even open.. Beginning to think it's near impossible to get leopard working.. og-phantom
Jas 10.5.4 isn't working for me either (xfx 780i). I used the kaylway 10.5.2 DVD. Then used the Jas 10.5.3 combo update and finally mysticus's 10.5.4 delta update. Everything is working good. I had to patch the audio to work, but otherwise the hackintosh is working great. I still am fighting the 4 cores and 8 gig of memory battle (had to set my system to use 2 cores and 3072mb of ram at boot otherwise if I have 3 or 4 cores enabled the kernel panics, more than 3gig of ram and i will hard lock in less than 20 minutes after booting). Hope this helps. I am thinking about putting together a 650/680/780 howto, I can't find one and had to figure most everything out myself... Already bricked about 5 or 6 installs..... I would go with Kalyway 10.5.2......it seems to work best for most NForce MOBO + Intel CPU people most of the time, including myself..... , followed by Mysticus C*'s 10.5.3 Combo Updater and then his 10.5.4 Delta updater...... bLURRIE
Bump! Kalyway doesn't work! Gives me the still waiting for root device, with sata and without sata, with cpus=1 maxmem=2048 and without. Though kalyway does detect my ata drive because it loads ata drivers! bLURRIE
How can i check that? And i don't want to install mac on a sata drive, that's for vista. verdant
How can i check that? And i don't want to install mac on a sata drive, that's for vista. I use my ATA HDD for that Even if you want to keep the SATA HDD for Vista, you still need Kalyway to recognise it without error to achieve a successful OS X install....you can check by looking at link to Mysticus's post (in my earlier post)...... bLURRIE
Okay.. NVIDIA nForce Serial Ata Controller 1: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0266&SUBSYS_81BC1043&REV_A1PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0266&SUBSYS_81BC1043 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0266&CC_010185 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0266&CC_0101 NVIDIA nForce Serial Ata Controller 2: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0267&SUBSYS_81BC1043&REV_A1PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0267&SUBSYS_81BC1043 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0267&CC_010185 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0267&CC_0101 Note: I gave them numbers because there were 2 in the list, both of them have a port 0 and port 1 tab, and since i have 4 sata ports on my mobo that explains why.. IDE Channel 1: 10de-0265 IDE Channel 2: 10de-0265 Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0265&SUBSYS_81BC1043&REV_A1PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0265&SUBSYS_81BC1043 PCI\VEN_10E&DEV_0265&CC_01018A PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0265&CC_0101 I currently use sata port 1 only for my only sata hdd. My IDE HDD is Primary master and is the only ide device attached. I also have a IDE Burner, if you want me to use that instead of a usb burner. Oh btw i just got an error trying to test Kalyway again IOATAController blocking device bus. Maybe i have to set S.M.A.R.T. off?
