2 things.

1. thats awesome its 100%. you are saying the audio in / out is all there and the intel gma 3500 is working in qe/ci?

2. I think posting the link to the retail DVD is against the rules here. you might want to take that down so this gem of a post doesn't get nixed.

this board has a lot of what I am looking for in a multimedia board. the only problem is the pciex1 slots. why would they use two of them? those devices seem harder to find and make work. ah well what can you do

You really don't need that much kext in your Extra folder try BOOT-KABYL-BUMBY.iso it works perfect it only got 4 kext file. also i have made a combo Audio and Lan installer for this board. if any one wants it just pm me

Thanks Fuz2y for your sharing,

One note, you might be require to boot the retail using -x -v -f if you are having difficulties booting, also the BIOS SATA might require to be set as IDE and not AHCI.

Overclocking the P5E-VM HDMI

For those interested in OC'ing your P5E-VM HDMI, here is what i have achieved this weekend and seem stable, at least according to OCCT and ORTHOS

Currently running at 3.81GHz on a E7300, which is 50% OC on CPU and 50% OC on FSB.

Here are the settings as well as some mods to my case.

Yes I use the Pencil drop, which drop only 0.01V now (I Used a HB pencil to do as this was the only one available on this island).

My room temperature is nice just after work, when all equipment have been off all night and day, then get to the "sweating point" after few hours in the room and computers turned on.

This is just a reference to let you know that the room temperature is very warm and certainly does not help the cooling, but good enough with water cooling.

I'm actually investigating different solutions to increase the efficiency of the cooling, but it has to be low cost... very low cost and simple.

I have a wagan car fridge which i don't use very often, i had considered striping the thermal plate from it to fit in the case, on the mb side there is a little gap between the panel and the backplane, not sure if that would fit but might be a consideration. I'm afraid that the PSU might not be able to handle this...

If anyone has any brilliant ideas I am open to realistic solutions, again, something simple and not expensive, here everything is mail order... except for A/C which cost too much to run...

In anycase I though I would share my results and settings for a good 3.81GHz for those interested.

With this, I consume 220W total, that include the UPS, 2 routers, 2 LCD Screen, the computer that include 3 HDD... not bad

Nomad.

so is this the closest mobo to have 100% working (everything except sleep)? Is there any other mobo that will have everything plus the sleep function working? Since I'm going to go buy a mobo for my new comp anyways i'm trying to find the best mobo for the hackintosh. Would you say this is the best? Thanks in advance :)

Sleep is working here, the only problem is after sleep restart and LAN wont work so the system has to be rebooted for these to work again. I never had any problems with GA-G33M-S2R everything worked perfect.

Fuz2y - Does HDMI work on this - both video and digital audio (i.e., without the 8800GTX)? If so, this could be the perfect Mac-based HTPC. Low power, low heat, low noise.

sweet  one more thing, is there any way to make the system boot the hard drive with the OS on it? because right now every time i restart i will get into the prompt screen (note: i've already removed my boot123 cd and changed the setting in bios to boot HDD first) and it will ask me to choose a HDD to boot (there is only one option anyways).

also dose your front panel audio work? i plugged in my headset and i'm not getting any sound at all but if i plug it in the back it works.

OK after getting a new HDD i can confirm that Time Machine works without any kexts and that with the help of another member (thanks Nomade :) ) in this forum i was able to solve the boot up problem.

Just add

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>1</string>

to the com.apple.Boot.plist file

However now i have yet another problem. I find that sometimes when I tried to shut down the computer only the screen turns off (or maybe I should say turns black), HDD off and RAM off but the system still seems to be ON since i can still hear all the fans spinning (so the PSU is still on).

Anyone having this problem as well? Is this normal and is there a fix for this?

Hi Fuz2y,

Thanks for the great guide, :D thanks to you I now have my system setup great and very stable, just one question before I apply the MAC OS updates, my graphics carg a EVGA 8800GT 512MB says it is QE enabled but after it says not supported so I cant get ilife to work ?.

Can you help is there something I am doing wrong the driver/kext is loaded and I have a screen resolution of 1600x1200 all else is fine the card is correctly installed just not QE enabled any help advice would be great.

Thanks Melly :D

P.S I am new to Mac's so sorry if I have,nt fully understood anything, I have been searching and the only reference I can find is to flash my 8800GT card with a new ROM - sounds scary. - Thanks.
