Special-K
I've had my MacBook since Christmas. It's worked perfectly and never given me issues. I almost never turn it off, I just put it to sleep. Although I realize that it should be turned off completely here and there so I've done that a few times. I downloaded Flock cause I like to be updated with Facebook and Twitter. Nothing was wrong when I first got it but a few days in, the fonts were getting all screwy. Like if I was on Engadget, the titles for all their articles are bold. Well they had an article about the 3G iPhone. Everything was bold except the G, which was a B. Yea exactly, weird. I went on Pitchfork and I honestly couldn't even read it. Half the page didn't have words, the other half was all mushed together, it was awful. So I put it to sleep for a bit. Opened it up, same thing. Tried again, same thing. So I turned it off. I turn it back on, everything's fine. Start Flock again so I can check a couple things. Worked flawlessly. Put it to sleep, realized I needed to check the weather and opened it up again. There was no wireless. Like there was no Airport icon in the menu bar or anything. But Transmission was still downloading (which the downloads start as soon as I open the computer, anyone know how to stop that?) and I could use the internet, but then it would get stuck. Did it again later, had to restart. Tried this morning after it slept all night, had to restart. I'm thinking it's Flock's fault but I'm not 100% on that. And no I haven't downloaded porn. Only Final Cut, The Office and Spin City. Anyways, if anyone's had this problem, or knows what to do to make it work right again, I would owe you my soul. hecker
Well, the only way to find out if it's Flock or not (it does sound like it is) is deinstalling Flock and seeing if the problem persists. And sleeping with his daughter. And wife. So I use DHL. (MoC)
Me and FedEx are on bad terms. Something about coming after their leader with a boxcutter or something. And sleeping with his daughter. And wife. So I use DHL. Backup and reinstall. I'm sorry to say that but I had the same issue with a customer's PowerMac G5. Special-K
Backup and reinstall. I'm sorry to say that but I had the same issue with a customer's PowerMac G5. Backing up is such a {censored} to do. I would much rather uninstall Flock and see if that works. I just have to actually stop using it. Try that first and see if it works, I highly doubt it, but hey, you never know. Special-K
Well I just uninstalled Flock. I'm just gonna give it like a day or two to see if it helped. If not, then looks my I'm getting my portable HDD early. Now, off to watch the Sony and Nintendo E3 press conference. Microsoft's yesterday really enticed me to get a 360. Moreso than the price cut. Special-K
Alright, well I lied in my last post. The sleep issue is still there. Programs become all unresponsive when I back from sleep. Not all the time, but enough times to {censored} me off. I hate backing-up and reinstalling. Most cause I have alot of programs that I don't have the .dmg or serial for anymore. Any better ideas? (MoC)
Hmm I dunno. Tried installing the newest update? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/115400-sleep-problems-with-my-macbook/#findComment-836753 Share on other sites
Special-K
Yea, I installed the newest update, and it's actually worse now. Now whenever I put it to sleep and open it back up again after say about an hour, everything freezes. Like I can go through my 4 spaces desktops, but all the programs are non-responsive. I'm considering reinstalling but is there some option to reinstall without losing everything? skyhighmac
I wish I would have know this before I got a new hd, but put your install disc in and hold down D on boot. That'll check to make sure no hardware problems exist. Special-K
I did what you said sky and it said there was no hardware problems. I've slept it a couple times for the past few days and everything seems great. Thanks.
