mentorek
Please write Your install configuration... I use:1. iAtkos 5i 10.5.5 as install DVD with: a) EFI 9 bootloader (I install Chameleon 2 RC1 later) Apple Decrypt c) SMBIOSEfi MacBook Air 1.1 by ChunNanh d) Disabler.kext e) OpenHalt Restart. But it seems that it is needed. f) stock kernel g) fully stock ACPI j) efi string for GMA950 i) Your DSDT.aml to get graphics work 2. Original 10.5.6 Combo Update. BUT the last time I installed... My system start to fall with no root device error just after installing of IOPCFamily and IOPCIFamily. It says that there is error with ACPIPCI. And I can't understand Chameleon options... Do we need to change something? Do we need to to use South Bridge kexts? With great respect, jazzminos. Kalyway 10.5.1 + Apple 10.5.6 Combo Update & Apple 10.5.7 Combo Update IOPCIFamily.kext + IOPCCardFamily.kext + Disabler.kext VoodooPower.kext + VoodooBatter.kext Chameleon 2.0 rc1 + DSDT.aml I think I have SMBIOS kext changed - not sure though. Only problem I have nowadays is that I've lost sleep functionality.
mentorek
Hi guys, I've found this little guide to enable devices using retail drivers. It involves messing with DSDT but might be worth to try. I haven't check if that would work with 0x14f15047 but you never know... Here is the link: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=168014 Cheers, mentorek
jazzminos
Hi, Mentorek. I'd like to ask You if You can pack with zip or rar and upload Your Extensions and Extra folders from 10.5.7. This will help me to find out what is wrong with my system... with my fans. Thanks beforehands. With great respect, jazzminos.
jazzminos
Hi... I suppose that it is possible to change the sensors info in i8k driver kext. Here is the source code: http://i8kfan.googlecode.com/files/I8kfan_....0d1-source.zip . And here's my P100 sensors info... If we can find an experienced coder... Do You have any ideas on this? jazzminos
I've installed Your extensions... Now there is no boot device... Do You use Chameleon 2 bootloader? Share Your Extra folder, please. It seems that I lost some ATA driver.
jazzminos
It seems that it works! I can hear my fans... But the boot process is somewhat strange... At first system says that it can't find the root device... Then it say something about Bluetooth... Then after 15-20 seconds it begins to boot from HDD... Very strange. My previous configuration boot was MUCH faster. I also found significant defferences between my and yours Extensions... A lot of kexts have different sizes... There some kexts that I didn't have in my folder. Why do You use Disabler.kext... As I understand we don't need it as long as we use DSDT Override... You didn't delete Don't Steal MacOSX.kext... Questions Please, share Your Extra folder... I think that when I use it my boot will be faster... Thanks... I'm not sure that this was successful... I need to test further. AND I get some problems with VoodooPower... Now it recognizes my LOWES CPU frequency as 1600MHz instead of 800MHz... That is a problem... I have CoreDuo 1.73. With great respect, jazzminos. mentorek
... Hmm... glad to see that your fans are spinning now. As for all the extensions, those are messy because I've used Kalyway 10.5.1 as base and had installed at least 10.5.6 and 10.5.7. It's quite old installation so do not expect it to be tidy EDIT: I'm not using Extra. My boot is ok... at least acceptable. And as for VoodooPower.kext it's saying my lowest freq is 1002 MHz. I think that I had a similar value in Linux.
jazzminos
It seems that there is no success Fans are not stable... Today I had to use a great fan that stands on the floor... It makes my laptop cool! I think that there is a problem with SMBIOS. It has a great influence on SMCPlatformPlugin... And this plugin contains thermal profiles... And I got another problem... I get console messages EVERY time like this: 10.06.09 20:12:42 com.apple.launchd[1] (com.uphuck.speedstep2[766]) posix_spawnp("/Library/SpeedStep2/IntelEnhancedSpeedStep", ...): No such file or directory That began after dleting SpeedStep2 directory from \Library\StartupItems Do You know how to fix this? Thanks. With great respect, jazzminos.
geiman
This post is way off topic, but since most of us in this thread have the same or extremely similar laptops, I figured it was as good of a place as any to post. I've been playing with snow leopard for most of the day, and I have to say it is awesome. Right now, I'm typing this on my new snow leopard install, with sound, power management, battery recognition, gfx acceleration, both cores working, etc. (Vanilla kernel as well!) I think this is going to replace Leopard for me now! Just thought you'd like to know our laptops will play very nicely with Snow Leopard -matt
jazzminos
Hi, geiman! It is very nice to see You here Do you have any ideas about how to make my fans work... I'm just about to open the laptop and to reconnect my fans to make the work continuously... I've spent a lot of time using Your patched BIOS... And I havn't had any problems with fans. Should I go back to use it... With 2 unknown devices in XP? It seems that Your version of BIOS was the most working. I had sound... But it disappeared with 2Gb memory banks. Can You help me with this 2 problems? It is nice that You have made Your laptop working with SL... Can You post here a small tutorial... With needed kexts of course With great respect, jazzminos. jazzminos
Roll Back to geimans 4.0 BIOS doesn't help with fans in 10.5.
geiman
I wish I could help you with your fans problem, but I don't know of anything off the top of my head to help you.. I'll look around a bit. My fans work ok, but I have to use Voodoo power kext in order to get speed stepping working correctly. It also detects my cpus minimum frequency to be about 1003 MHz; I used to be able to get it to recognize a minimum value in the 900's or 800's, maybe lower. its been so long that I can't remember; anyways, I have never been able to get it back that low, but even with the 1003 MHz speed it hangs around ~46 C. I know that the SMBIOS especially has a great influence on all of this, at least for me; might want to fool with different variations or even try and edit one for yourself. As for the Snow Leopard tutorial, you can follow this one: http://www.infinitemac.com/f57/how-to-inst...-on-a-pc-t3137/ I followed this one, so I figured it better for you to get the information first hand rather than through me. I did the tutorial exactly, and just moved whatever kexts I used in Leopard over to my Snow Leopard partition and they worked! (And of course your patched DSDT, unless you directly patched your bios) Let me know how you make out, meanwhile I'll try and see if I can find anything else to help you. jazzminos
Hi, friends. I solved the fan problem radically... Now I have manually adjustable fan. I've opened laptop and connected the fan to one of the USB ports... The speed is adjusted with a little regulator. Now is the time to think about other things
mentorek
Slightly OT: Does anyone of you guys is still using Disabler.kext? I've started cleaning my Extensions folder and had successfully removed couple of Extensions I do not need. I've read that Disabler.kext might have an influence on FireWire behavior (read: bandwith and cpu usage) and would like to fix it. I've tried to remove it (Disabler.kext) but then I get KP mentioning AppleEFINVRAM.kext and AppleEFIRuntime.kext So, my question is: is it possible for me (us?) to stop using this kext? or not? Thanks in advance for your responses, mentorek EDIT: These are the kexts that are being used by my installation. Shall I remove anything else that is not needed anymore? jazzminos
I don't use Disabler.kext... It seems that it is not necessary with DSDT.aml. I have loaded even AppleCPUPowerManagement. You need to delete Don'tStealMacOSX.kext. I've noticed that there are different versions of Disabler.kext. They are discribed on XxX v2. Do You have any news on sound problem? With great respect, jazzminos.

With great respect, jazzminos. Are you using 10.5.7? Which distribution (Kalyway/iPC/...?)? My installation is quite old and seems to have some leftovers from the base (10.5.1/10.5.2 Kalyway) which might have an impact. Could you provide me with your extensions folder? As for audio part - I haven't time to experiment much further. I've found one guy with a AppleHDA kext on some Russian forum but I couldn't neither download it (have to register) nor access it recently. cheers, mentorek
jazzminos
I use iAtkos 5i practically stock installation + Chameleon 2 (with GMA950b (Natit) driver from iAtkos) + Your DSDT.aml + AppleDecrypt + some files in Extra + latest PCI drivers by Chun Nan + VoodooPS2 + VoodooPower. Kernel & ACPI are fully stock... My sleep works. I can't solve problem with SMBIOS... I don't know what to use... SMBIOSResolver worked in 10.5.6, but it doesn't work in 10.5.7. I always get a error with Computer Model in System Profiler. Can You give me the link from Russian forum? I'm from Russia and I'll try to contact this guy. Here's the link to my Extensions+Extra folders archive http://rapidshare.com/files/251441497/Ext_Extra.zip.001.html With great respect, jazzminos. Try using smbios.plist in /Extra folder to solve (fill in) infos in System Profiler. The link: http://www.applelife.ru/kak_sdelat_hda_zvuk/12860/850.html I didn't figure out how to use those kexts he provided. Thanks for the your extensions - I will get back to you with the outcome. cheers, mentorek

I will try to reinstall it using iPC 10.5.6 and see if that would change anything. Any news on Legacy* kexts from Clubber77?
