After 20 minutes I had the same issue. I then tried turning off sleep mode and viola it works. Thanks for everybody's help. I just have two small issues now. My resolution max and only option is 1024x768. And the same issue eveyone else is having with restart hanging after the 10.5.4 update.
bibendum
If you can't change resolution, you haven't installed the video driver. And the restart issue is fixed earlier in this thread... Patrick
Zachery
The only graphical anomaly I'm seeing is in the "get info" window, moving the mouse pointer through the spotlight comments field causes the pointer arrow to be doubled and sometimes a bit of desktop shows through that area too. In my extensions folder I have all of the GMA 950 files that were posted earlier, but noticed someone mentioned only installing two of them. Should I delete some of these? I just had success installing these. Yes only use two. I was unsure at first but I crossed my fingers and used the two that had .kext extensions. So I used the AppleIntelGMA950.KEXT and AppleIntellegratedFrameBuffer.kext I used the KEXT helper provided by Mr. Flood If you can't change resolution, you haven't installed the video driver. And the restart issue is fixed earlier in this thread... Patrick I'm an idiot at times. On the first post by Mr. Flood it is stated how to fix the video. I followed the instructions and now I have several resolutions to choose from. Thanks again! Where is the fix for the restart in this thread? Is it the msiwindosx86.iso. If so do install it over my 10.5.4? Can I get a little more detail on this fix? I also saw somebody buy an ASUS WL-138g V2 Wireless LAN PCI Adapter on this thread. Did it work OOB as airport? I checked the compatibility chart and cannot get a clear answer on the version 2. It states “Yes, using a patch causes it to not work” Why would I use a patch? Anyways, I couldn’t wait so I just ordered one for $23.00 after shipping so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Zachery
I've just gone through a marathon of uninstalling and reinstalling different permutations of the files in the GMA950 package. Basically, what I've found is that I can either have working Quartz Extreme OR no artifacts. Every time I was able to fix the artifacting, I broke QE. My install was a bit different than the tutorial though - I used the iDeneb 10.5.4 image. Maybe that's the problem. I think I'm going to give Jas 10.5.4 a shot. skorcho
Hi guys, this is my first post in this great forum so I'd like to say HELLO to everybody and THANKS for the helpful advices! Here we go with my problem: I setup my first hackintosh in virtually no time with this wonderful mobo. The final destination for it is to be a home server. This is the conf: Little Falls D945GCLF 2gb RAM 80GB IDE HD In the next future I'll add two 1TB WD Caviar Green in RAID mirroring. Now it's flawlessy running with a manually configured IP. The ethernet is connected to my USR9111 modem/router. Other stuff around are a MB and a MBP, both airport connected with manual IP. Trasmission is setup and running on it. I just finished a download and I want to play it on my MBP. Two options: 1) play it with data streaming from the server to VLC on MBP 2) copy it on MBP and then play it The problems: 1) if I try to stream it, it runs for some seconds then it stops and freezes 2) if I try to copy, the elapsed time at the beginning is 6 minutes and after 100mb it runs up to 3/4hrs... Both cases are from a faulty LAN, I guess. I tried to switch to manual IP (before I was using DHCP) but no help... well, to be honest with DHCP was horribly slower... Any ideas? Which test should I run? Uh, note that to reach the file to play/copy it I go (on MBP) to Network/Server/Users/Username/Desktop and from there I click/move the file! Thanks in advance! Italia64
This system looks great for a server. However I'm planning on using the Chenbro server case (pricey but fantastic) and need 4 SATA ports. Anyone know of a similar board that has 4 SATA rather than 2?

pseudonym13
Hi, does anybody know if iWork runs well with this hardware. With my current hardware (AMD Sempron 300, Asrock Mobo) and Leo4all V2 Pages does not work.
maccompaq
iWork 08 works well on my Atom Hackintosh as does MSOffice 08, Adobe Photoshop CS, Aperture as well as Appleworks 6.2.9. I am well satisfied with this computer with 2GB RAM. I have both a SATA HD and a PATA HD installed My Install is Kalyway 10.5.2. I do not intend to update beyond that since everything is working to my satisfaction.
Italia64
yes, a model from MSI I haven't been able to find it for sale yet. Only board available is the 2-SATA board from MSI. I'll have to either wait, or buy the Intel or MSI board plus a SATA card.
shoelessone
Hi all, love this thread, for a lack of a better word I'll go ahead and say it's been "inspiring" for me. (sorry for the ramble below!) Anyway, I'm actually currently in Thailand, on my way to Cambodia, then Vietnam, then Laos, for the next 3ish months (crazy, I've been gone for 2 already!) but I'm a nerd and can't help but to think computer nerd stuff, even while traveling! So, I've been thinking that when I go home I want to build a beautiful wooden case (tongue and grove maple, I'm thinking) to use as a media center PC/simple home server. I'd like it to run OSX, and I'd like it to run fairly well (ie problem free). I found this thread and thought that this hardware configuration could be PERFECT for me. My questions are as follows: 1) Has anybody tried running XBMC on this machine? 2) Would anybody be able to make a recomendation to a motherboard better suited for my application? Price isn't so much an issue, though I'd like to stay LESS than 500 for the total project, which means around 400 - 450 for the computer components. 3) Would video out/audio out (5.1) be a problem with this machine? I'm assuming not, I see there is a PCI slot available so I could always get whatever PCI sound card I wanted, and some sort of VGA -> S-Vid adapter or something of the sort? 4) Again, any general advice for me? Like a better suited motherboard? Thanks all!
-tool-
Please, can you try matroska files 720p and 1080p, with Plex. Plex plays better 1080p than VLC and Quicktime w/Perian. With intel 950, QE/CI works great? Wich resolution are you using?

CoreAVC runs on Linux too (with wine for codecs or something else). My futere atom motherboard would be windows free. Debian or Arch Linux will be my choices. But from my inference I see that you are referring to .mov trailers. .mov is not .mkv matroska. I was referring to matroska. I am reiterating that CoreAVC (Linux/Windows) is the only option for .mkv 720p film, you need dualboot as a result. And .mkv is for illegal rips of bluray and .mov is for movie trailers
-tool-
@mattrb, if someone could try PLEX in their Atom based Hackintosh... Mplayer runs great. However I'm very skeptic about how better and smoothy could be a mkv 720p file...

puma7
All my stuff is working except 1) sleep 2) printing (i dont think its related to the install, just windows failing to connect to os x) Questions... 1) how can I dual-boot w/ ubuntu if OS X is already installed? 2) where is a good FREE word processor that runs fast on this machine? firefoxsilver9
ok i'm thinking about building this "Perfect Mac", but thinking it maybe a better idea to just buy a new case, HardDrive, DVD Burner, and motherboard and use that along with my current pc's parts (Intel P4 3.00HT, ATI Radeon 2400Pro 256mb PCI (or intergrated graphics on the board), 500w Antec 80-PLUS psu, 2GB DDR ram. Which one would be best in performance and compatibility? Also cost effectiveness. The p4 is an 478 socket so i'll need to get a MB that supports that. I might be able to use my current MB (i used kalyway 10.5.2 in the past along with a Celeron d, audio needed a little tweaking and a GeForce 6200 pci card and worked fine) but not sure.
