Ok guys, this topic has been around for a few months now and a lot has been said about specifics of various scenarios. I was wondering if there is a link for steps to follow for someone like me who has ONLY ONE GUID partition used for OSX and have recently upgraded from 10.5.2 to 10.5.5. I have a ton of issues with KPs at the boot time but somehow surviving for now. I am really looking to clean up a lot of Kext, kernel, etc. customized mess that is my laptop (Sony VAIO VGN-TXN19P) and have a reliable machine that always boots and upgrades with stock Apple DMGs.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Best,

_KK

Joel,

Glad to hear you have a T60 working! Which features are working?

I'm working with a T60 T2400 1.83GHz + 64MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 + Intel 3945abg wireless + Intel Pro/1000 PL 82573L + SoundMAX integrated digital HD audio.

With the BOOT-132 generic.iso plus MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.4 plus AzaliaAudio.pkg plus PS2Fix1054 plus Chameleon, the basics are working.

What doesn't work:

* Wireless (I assume that's why you bought that Atheros card? Does that work OOB or do you need driver magic?)

* The Intel Pro/1000 PL 82573L wired network connection works but says "not connected/cable unplugged"

* No battery status, power management

* No suspend, hibernate

* Closing the lid causes the display to go into 80 column text garbage even if the BIOS is set to do nothing on closing the lid

Will your boot-t60 file solve any of these problems? Sorry for the noob question, but what do you do with it?

Thanks.

Regards,

IMF

here's my boot-132 for T60

hardware:

T5600 1.83GHz

GMA 950

Azalia Audio

Atheros AR5BXB6(0x168C, 0x58A)

everything is working except bluetooth, i think my bluetooth is fried, cant use it in windows too.

* Wireless (I assume that's why you bought that Atheros card? Does that work OOB or do you need driver magic?)

if you want to buy an atheros card, you need to get it from a working IBM laptop but i cant assure you that it will work.

* The Intel Pro/1000 PL 82573L wired network connection works but says "not connected/cable unplugged"

no idea, search the forum?

* No battery status, power management

try http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=808073

* No suspend, hibernate

you have to remove AppleLPC.kext in the extensions folder

* Closing the lid causes the display to go into 80 column text garbage even if the BIOS is set to do nothing on closing the lid

sorry, i dont understand

my boot-t60 will work with hardware that is the same as mine. for different hardware, you need to have a different set of kexts

If "image in an external drive" means a "filename.iso" image, then the answer is no. If you have used disk utility to restore your DVD or an iso image to an hfs+ partition on an external drive then the answer is yes. When you see the prompt for a hex drive ID 80,81 or [9F] then enter the ID of the drive containing your restored install image.

Hey Guys/Gals.

I've used the Chameleon for Hard Disk on my Retail Install along with some recommended kexts for my board (GA-EP45-UD3R).

Could someone please show me how I can add/delete the kexts that were added along with Chameleon? Do I need to add/delete the kexts and do a re-install of the Chameleon for Hard Disk? :(

Can anyone help me ? i've downloaded a generic.iso, and i've boot it with retail DVD. It take me to the langauge screen but the mouse and the keyboard doesn't work. what should i do now to make it work ?

Well, the first thing is to tell people about your hareware configuration. What processor - Pentium 4, Core2Duo, AMD, what?

Then, there would be the list of kext from the initrd.img file on the boot-132 cd you are using.

Those would be a good place to start.

Hi all,

I installed OSX from Retail , after that I managed to format everything and I tried to reinstall OSX, but I doesn't work anymore. Since my system is always the same, it should be some kind of minor issue.

I got always the kernel-panic unable to find drivers for this platform \"ACPI\" , pointing to the file ACPIPlatformExpert.cpp

Do you know what is this kext for? Can you suggest me some changes in BIOS setting or in the system itself in order to resolve the problem? Can you suggest a better AppleACPIPlatform.kext to write in the image?

ps.

- My bios settings are those used by ls8 (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=77165)

- My DVDROM is SATA

- I have 2 SATA and 1 IDE HDD (I tried also to detach the IDE)

- I have also a gigabyte 8400 GS NVIDIA

Do you have any glue of this problem?

thanks a lot,

Does anyone have a working complete iso image that will boot the Thinkpad T60 without any problems? I've seen an initrd.img file posted a page back, but when it is applied to any of the isos there is always an error. It either freezes or complains of the boot.plist error and freezes at the blue screen after changing to the Leopard DVD.

Please help. This is driving me crazy. I thought that wireless would be my main problem. I look forward to your answers. You guys are great.

Hi, I've managed to install Leopard from retail DVD.

First of all my sound did not work, so I patched it Taruga's style :D

But today the other problem appeared...

I can't mount my USB drive ... no matter - with or without restart <_< anyone knows how to fix this ?

@nobullone,

I'm not aware of any comprehensive BOOT-132 solution for the T60 unfortunately. Take a look at my post #902 above for what I have working and not on the T60.

I had a similar problem when I updated to 10.5.5 and I changed back to my old AppleACPIPlatform.kext and it looks like that fixed the problem. This was with my EP45-DS3 mobo, I also have a P35-DS3R hack and I´m not sure but I think I have the same kext in that one.

Two quick questions:

I'm trying to follow the guide, but I keep getting stuck at the beachball. I'm using the CPU Drop-in DVD v 10.5. that came with my sons iMac last year. I'm wondering if this is a full dvd or just an upgrade dvd and if that's my problem. I have no problem buying a new retail dvd, just don't want to waste my money until I know I can make it work.

I would also like to install OSX on an external USM hard drive. I've looked through the forums, but couldn't find anything definitive, is this doable, or should I use an external firewire drive?

I have no idea about your first question - the dvd. However, I can tell you that installing to an external USB drive is quite doable. That's what I use for emergency repairs when I trash my main OS X install on the internal drive.

OK, the retail DVD made the difference. I was able to install OSX on my latptop and was able to put the bootloader back in and boot back into OSX. I now have two more questions:

1) Do I always need the iso disk I created to boot into osx? If not, what do I need to do to make my osx disk bootable?

2) I currently don't have wireless working, can anyone point me to some quick info?

Thanks,

Tim
