I tried your final draft version and all i could say is that it works flawlessly. Sleep, shutdown & restart works. Just can't wait for the final release.

Thank you.

lol...just wait. My new slogan is "So easy, even a Caveman can do it" :)

I mean seriously, you have no idea. If you like the final draft version, you're gonna flip when you see what's in store for Saturday :D

When I install it, I'm probably going to take it all for granted since I haven't seen the older version(s). I'm really excited, though.

Hope your finals are going well, weaksauce. I just finished my last one today. :D

weaksauce12, thanks for you help!

I have an EP35-DS3L rev1.0 with Bios F4. Your boot 132 dvd work great on F4 (I don't update the bios because is risky and my hardware work with F4. I don't see any reason to update.. Also, reboot and shutdown work like a charm).

I use the 10.5.4 retail dvd and I need to update. Ok.. 10.5.5 update downloaded and installed but my PC crash after update. I think this is a sound card issue: http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/6751/dsc0003ep9.jpg

I hope you didn't try to update the BIOS in windows! Did you do it through Q-Flash ?

Yes, I used Q-Flash. After it was done I saw a message that it was searching the hard drive for some backup flash. Than it restarted, ran about ten seconds with no post, just a black screen, shut off, than restarted again, lather, rinse, repeat.

The 1-Click app has a built-in Plugin Maker. All you have to do is add your Kexts and voila, out pops a plugin

I know everyone wants me to support their board, but the fact is I only have a P35-DS3L. You have to do extensive testing and make board-specific files like the DSDT dump for your board, from your board - I can't do it on mine because it requires the board itself to be running OS X to make the DSDT file. The simple fact is that I can't support everyone because I don't have access to every board. But, thanks to PCWiz's awesome programming prowess, you can easily make your own plugin! :D

does your guide include this steps? for other boards....

i act dont think the ds3 needs any other kexts... only DSDT... ( i can make that on any HACKINT0SCH install and every 10.5.x version , right? as long as i dont change the motherboard afterwards :P

Upgrade to the F5 BIOS. I can't do any support unless people have the correct BIOS revisions.

That's odd, I've never had a problem...did you contact Gigabyte's tech support?

My guide is specifically for the DS3L. PCWiz's documentation will cover the rest. I may release a Developer's Guide at some point in the future. The problem is this stuff gets outdated so quickly because of the daily developments in the OSx86 Community...but it will be a good basis to start from.

Yes, the response was RMA the board. Great option when it's your only computer and the process takes 6 weeks by their estimation.

Yeah that stinks!

You may not want to upgrade to the BOOT-132 guide...The EP35 needs the F5 or newer BIOS, otherwise things will be buggy. I'd say stick with what you have, unless you're willing to try a BIOS upgrade again...

I guess I could hold out until snow leopard. Everything I need runs flawless on 10.5.4.

I don't know why we need F5 update. The F5 update support more CPU. Some user report success with F4 and boot 132, and I have 10.5.4 retail already installed on F4.

If something not work, simply not work... or someone motivate why we need bios f5 ?

There were various bugs with the F4 BIOS that were fixed in the F5 BIOS. You're completely free to do whatever you want with your own board...my guide is just one guide among many and you're free to choose anything you want ;) I've been doing extensive testing with a userbase of about 30 systems for the past few months and those are my recommendations, so FWIW the F5 and newer BIOS for the EP35 and F7 and newer BIOS for the P35 worked the best.

Good news! Bios is updated using Q-flash.

My updating method for EP35-DS3L rev 1.0:

1. F5 Bios downloaded here: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherb...?ProductID=2778

2. 10GB formatted HDD used for flashing. The HDD connected on IDE. All SATA cable removed...

3. AHCI disabled.

4. Load bios defaults.

5. Reboot and press "END" (enter Q-FLASH)

6. Save the old bios. (backup)

7. Bios updated using the new file.

BTW, read the motherboard manual twice before flashing. The manual is the best documentation.

The GA EP35-DS3L works too, and it's available at most places. Alternatively, "macpalace7" on eBay usually has stock of the P35, new-in-box. I've used him a few times in the past with good results. I am also currently testing the Gigabyte EP45-UD3P board - slightly more expensive, but has 8 SATA ports, 8 USB ports, onboard Firewire, up to 16gb RAM, and two 16x PCIe ports (one @ 16x, one @ 8x electrical). The plugin isn't perfect yet, so if you want the current most compatible board, the DS3L is the ticket.

I'm curious how stable the EP45-UD3P plugin is. I'm testing my old parts tonight and I'll be ordering the necessary parts afterwards. Newegg is still out of the DS3L board so I was thinking of a ordering something else so I don't have to sit around and wait. Any thoughts?

Right now it locks up intermittently. This is my first ICH10 board and there's still some research for me left to do. Been uber busy between final exams and the Soup 2.0 guide, so I'll be working on it over my holiday break, along with the Wind.

So I understand that you're releasing a method where I can plug my SATA drive into Macbook, instal Mac OS X to it, then run a simple app to make it ds3l friendly and pop it in my hackintosh? My machine is hosed (anyone else have a stable machine and then after a few months kernel panic and never work quite right again?) and I've been waiting for this elegant solution. If you need a tester, I'd like to try this out this weekend.... email zoloft@gmail if we can help each other :)

Yup, that's pretty much it. It's even faster if you rip Leopard to an image and install from that (instead of from the slow DVD disc). If you don't have a Mac, you simply use the BootCD. Easy as pie. All of this BOOT-132 stuff has been around for ages, I'm just trying to make it easier for us DS3L users to do :)

Guide will be released tomorrow, putting some final touches on it between today and tomorrow. I have a C++ final tomorrow so it may be somewhat late when I release it.
