I have the EP35 model. Thanks! I'm actually re-doing the entire package & guide to accomodate the newer PCI EFI v9, so it's back to "beta" status right now. Should make some good progress within the next few days. New version supports 10.5.6, as usual...and...Snow Leopard

swilso
whoa. The icons look pretty. Can't wait for it to come out. I think ive been subscribed to this thread and the anandtech for the last few months. Can't believe how easy it was with your original boot-132 guide, I installed zephyroth on a mates K9A2 AMD phenom system a wile back and man I would not do it again. The P35-DS3L and your guide was just as easy as a fresh install of windows, can't imaging how much easier the new guide is going to be!

weaksauce12
Will you be releasing the guide soon? I hope so! Target is "definitely before Christmas". Originally I intended to release this on Thanksgiving weekend, but the project grew and grew and grew. I've converted the system over to PC EFI v9 Chameleon (a newer bootloader) and am now using Extensions.mkext in the Extras folder to load the kexts. I'm also working on some new kexts to tweak things even further. My only problem is that my finals start today, so I'm juggling studying and wrapping up the new package

weaksauce12
Oh alright. I'm just prepping to do a full system wipe, and use the new guide. It's been a bit of a wait, but it will be worth it...far easier & better than Kalyway. Do you have a spare SATA hard drive? If so, don't nuke your install just yet...I have a hard drive-based installation method that does everything right from your desktop

nintenno
did you ever get sleep working with boot 132 for some reason, my d3sl will not go to sleep at all my brothers does so just fine, but not mine so any tips for getting sleep working? I'll give you whatever degree you want for this install ASAP, preferably yesterday or better still last week It appears that you will deserve it... Yup, that's actually the idea - you plug it into your existing iMac, Macbook, Hackintosh, whatever and install it to a secondary bare drive, then pop that in your Hackintosh and boot up to the welcome screen There is of course still the option of installing straight from the Leopard disc for non-Mac owners. did you ever get sleep working with boot 132for some reason, my d3sl will not go to sleep at all my brothers does so just fine, but not mine so any tips for getting sleep working? Auzigog
Hey weaksauce! Thanks so much for this guide. I built a hackintosh about 8 months ago. I recently managed to spill water into the fan vents, so I need to build a new system. The P5W board isn't available anymore, so I went on a search for a hardware setup and guide that I could feel confident in. And your guide seems to do the trick! Anyway, my question is whether or not I should wait for the updated guide before purchasing parts. Does it have updated hardware suggestions? Also, I can't seem to find the GA-P35-DS3L motherboard anywhere, so that poses just a slight problem. What do you suggest? Thanks!

Alternatively, "macpalace7" on eBay usually has stock of the P35, new-in-box. I've used him a few times in the past with good results. I am also currently testing the Gigabyte EP45-UD3P board - slightly more expensive, but has 8 SATA ports, 8 USB ports, onboard Firewire, up to 16gb RAM, and two 16x PCIe ports (one @ 16x, one @ 8x electrical). The plugin isn't perfect yet, so if you want the current most compatible board, the DS3L is the ticket.
~pcwiz
Hey people, just wanted to notify you guys that weaksauce12's site and mine (my entire network) will be going down somewhere between today and tomorrow. Rest assured, however, because I can get the transfer done pretty fast. Weaksauce12's blog will be the first thing to go up after the transfer, followed by my main site, my blog, OSx86 Tools site, and the others. Don't worry about data loss or anything, I have MySQL backups and backups of all 15000+ files on the server, and I still have access to my old FTP so its all good to go
DTPHawk
Does anyone have a recommendation on a pci firewire card for these systems? I just picked up an apple isight web cam and am looking for a cheap way to get it hooked up. I'm also looking to upgrade my EVGA 7200GS 256MB video card to an XFX 8600GT XXX Edition 256MB from another pc. Does anyone have any experience with this card or recommendations on swapping them out? My plan is to wait for the new guide and do a complete re-install and swap out the video cards and install the new firwire card, all at once. Does this sound reasonable? I just picked up an apple isight web cam and am looking for a cheap way to get it hooked up. As long as it has TI chips, it'll likely work. And I would just install the FW card - no drivers necessary - no need to wait. OTOH, I have yet to find a FW800 card that has anything near FW800 speeds - almost every one I tried was recognized, but when doing disk speed tests, all of them proved slower than FW400 - in some cases substantially slower...
