weaksauce12
Call for hardware: I have Spring Break coming up this month, in a couple weeks, and I want to finish up the Wiki and get the new threads up for the DS3L & UD3P. What I need from you guys is hardware details, specifically peripherals, including: Bluetooth adapters, Firewire cards, Bluetooth cards, Sound cards, USB cards, Wifi adapters - basically anything other than a keyboard or mouse that you have found to be compatible (or not) with your Hackintosh. As always, the more details I can get on Video Cards, the better. This way we'll have a rich resource of known parts that are plug-and-play compatible with Leopard, as well as stuff that needs drivers. So whatever you've got - RAID cards, Video Capture Cards, etc., please post the following info: 1. Function 2. Manufacturer 3. Model 4. Status For example: 1. USB Sound Card 2. Syba 3. SD-CM-UAUD 4. Works 100%, plug-and-play (no drivers needed) This will make it a lot easier for everyone to shop for new, compatible parts. Thanks and be looking forward to Good Things towards the end of the month

weaksauce12
APC USB Back-UPS ES 650http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techsp...ase_sku=BE650BB No drivers needed with no flaws Great list, thanks! I forget, does OS X have a UPS utility for USB UPS's? (say that 5 times fast, haha) I think it's safe to assume most keyboards/mice/printers/scanners will work. What I'm particularly interesting in is the oddball stuff - USB Wifi, USB Audio, USB networking or other "unknowns". I think we're safe in assuming that any made for Mac USB equipment will work, but if you come across something that isn't specifically made for Mac (like the Syba USB sound stick) and it works, please post that as well! Also, do you get kernel panics at all with your system? I think my new 3870 is overheating on the screensaver sometimes and KP'ing (I have an aftermarket heatsink & fan system). Makes sense, but you seemed to want it all :^) As far as a UPS utility, it is kind of like how XP works with a UPS - it appears pretty much as a laptop battery. There is no specific utility, but it will alert you when you are on battery power (you can turn off or on the icon up in the top bar by the clock - i still don't know what that is called yet heh). You can also have seperate profiles for when it is on battery or on AC power so you can effectively sleep or shutdown in a power outage scenario. -shawn
NoSmokingBandit
I have a ga-p35-ds3l and for some reason my cpu fan speed never increases, even when im working the thing pretty hard. I have iStat's cpu meter in my menubar so i can see if im really stressing my cpu, and if i do some video encoding it runs my cpu pretty hard for a while and the fan never kicks up at all. It all works well enough in windows, just not in osx. Is this normal or is something wrong over here?
mosslack
Is it safe to move to 10.5.6 yet? I am running 10.5.5 and it is completely stable so I want to make sure that I don't cripple an otherwise very usable system. zadfly Best to make a backup first, but yeah, I've been at 10.5.6 almost since it came out. No problemo. HTH I have a ga-p35-ds3l and for some reason my cpu fan speed never increases, even when im working the thing pretty hard. This keeps the CPU fan running a full speed all the time so there should be no worries. HTH

Sorry that I have not check every page in this topic for detail. lol it's 80+ pages, I certainly HOPE you haven't read each page in detail Newertech has a 802.11g model ($29) and an 802.11n model ($49) of USB Wifi adapters, both of which should work great on Hackintosh since they are both PC & Mac compatible. I have not tested them myself however (I have a Gigabit LAN setup, so no wireless for me anymore!). Here's the links: http://www.newertech.com/products/mxusb_gb.php http://www.newertech.com/products/usb.php I have created an extra section on the upcoming Wiki for 'verified peripherals', it is a small but growing list, so if you pick something up, let me know if it works or not and I'll add it to the list! I have so much trouble doing good time estimates on this project, I always run into a snag with bugs or documentation or something and it keeps extending the release date. Thanks SO MUCH for the release, I just reinstalled everything from scratch and it all seems much more stable. However... I'm having issues with Time Machine. There's some posts around about using EFI studio to add the strings for the Network card. I'm about to go try this now..... Maybe worth you adding something to the guide about this? Thanks once again!

I haven't personally tested it so I can't say for sure, but it's got all the same guts (ICH10R, ALC889a Sound, 8111C NIC) so it should work pretty well I'd imagine. Do you have one handy for testing right now, or are you looking at ordering one?

Let me know if there are any differences in the BIOS betwee the EP45T and the EP45 list of settings in my guide. It will probably be the same situation as the P35/EP35 - EP35 worked fine with my guide (well, once we got the right BIOS loaded! haha).
