mister_lola
I know I'm one of the many seeking help on installation of OSx86 on PC, but please could someone help me? I have a Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, and as I see, there is no BIOS mod for it. Is it possible for someone to find the time and will to make a modded BIOS for this mobo? BIOS link: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket...-TURBO-0401.zip If not, could you please point me in the right direction?
Lucifer Caitiff
Hey there, please be gentle on me, I know how annoying the lame noob questions are. I want to do this, I just want an idea of what I'm doing before I go screwing with my bios, etc. Is there any chance I could get someone experienced with this hardware setup to IM me or something? I'm not a complete moron, but it's hard finding info specific to my hardware... Here's what I have Motherboard: P5Q3 DELUXE/WIFI-AP CH1-11 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz RAM: G.SKILL 2x2GB 240-Pin DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Video Card: BFG Tech GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 I also have an extra 500 gig hard drive to throw at this project. I'm sure I'm just making this harder for myself, but I figured it can't hurt to ask. AIM: ORLY Luci Yahoo: lucifercaitiff or you can reply here. Among my questions for getting started on this, is there a specific version of OSx86 will run best with my hardware? Anything special I need to do with it once I......acquire it? What do I need to do to my bios for this? I'm sure I'll have many more quetions once I get going, but this should keep me occupied for a while. thanks

Yep, same error here no matter what I do. Installing is fine, no need for any commands but booting just freezes with that error. You probably don't have to do anything with your BIOS. 2. I originally used the ideneb version of Leopard V1.4 10.5.6 and everything was working fine with a few tweaks. 3. When Snow Leopard came out I decided to buy a new hard drive and Install Snow Leopard 10.6. I used the following thread to do my install and it worked pretty well. Here's the link to the thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=180954 4. The thread is specific to Gigabyte boards, but it also works for others. I have the same board as you. See my sig at bottom. I used the boot cd method described in that thread. 5. Once Snow leopard was installed I had to round up kexts for the Marvell ethernet adapter, software for the Ralink wifi (Ralink site) and kexts for the Soundmax. 6. After SL was installed and I was satisfied it was working I did a software update to 10.6.1. I haven't done the update to 10.6.2 yet as I've been working on my Win 7 and Ubuntu installs. 7. The retail install disk for Snow Leopard costs 29 dollars and you can download everything else you need to install from links in the above mentioned thread. One note, The Ralink software will only work in 32 bit mode but it does work. I haven't checked the Ralink site lately to see if they have added a 64 bit driver. 8. I would print out the start of the thread listed above and then set about downloading all the items you will need to do the install before starting. Follow the thread carefully and you should be able to get Snow Leopard working. Good luck Note - Just checked Ralionk site and there appears to be new drivers there. Lucifer Caitiff
wow thank you so much! That should be enough to get me going, I'll post my progress. This actually looks very straightforward... It looks like I can just go straight in with the purchased version of snow leopard 10.6? or did you first install the 10.5 system and then go up from there? f4llens
Do someone know, what's with Juzzi's epic thread? It doesn't work any more The thread was so useful! And can someone point me the manual how to use hmmm mmm some method which doesn't require patched BIOS? BTW, there is an EFI-bios for P5Q Deluxe. Pros/contras? Maybe it causes Leo to run normally without patched BIOS?

Supernova83
Hi all, I need your help! I read that my MoBo requires the correction of APCI, so I can use the DSDT or a BiosMod. I think that DSDT process is complicated for me but also with a BiosMod I have a problem. The lastest Bios released for my Motherboard is too old for my configuration, there is anyone that can help me to create a Bios based on the lastest? Gringo Vermelho
Either Add your DSDT.aml, with the CPU aliases removed, to your boot CD or Try to find a boot CD that uses Chameleon 2.0 RC5 Then you don't need to flash your BIOS.
