larini
I start time machine and choose a fat32 partition in my second HD. In this HD I had a ext3 partition and a fat32. It says me "ow, I need to format this..", Ok. This peace of s.h.i.t format all my hard disk, erasing all my data! scj312
Well what do you expect when it says it's going to format the disk? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/111892-time-machine/#findComment-792330 Share on other sites
nintenno
im sorry, but formatting does erase your disk besides, time machine only works with HFS+ formats, so FAT wouldn't work my only advice is read before you click! nintenno
to partition, did you go into disk utility? or did you just click format Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/111892-time-machine/#findComment-792350 Share on other sites
larini
Time machine shows me all my partitions, including ones that it can`t recognize (ext3 partitions). I simply choose one of then (a fat32) to be formated to hfs (in time machine). All blows out.. attempts
i'm not too good at this, but i think since you had a fat32 and ext3, time machine may have formatted the entire hdd for the sake of makin an hfs. so both partitions fell =( if ever you see the word 'format' in a prompt, pretend like it's guaranteed to lose all the data on all partitions of that hard drive, because if that worst case scenario happens, at least you'll be prepared for the consequences, unlike me on many, many occasions^^; Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/111892-time-machine/#findComment-793618 Share on other sites
